The truth about r-22 and the like is that the patent expired and the chemical companies need to regularly introduce new formulas to patent
There's additional bonuses to this method.
First, the old gasses become super expensive, so even small leaks are prohibitively expensive to recharge, but hey, why not "save" money by upgrading to a new system?
Second, the new gasses are inevitably less efficient than the old ones and require higher and higher pressures to operate, meanwhile condenser coils keep getting thinner and thinner and even switched from copper to aluminum so that leaks and catastrophic blow-outs increase, leading to more cases of bonus the first.
The new formulas have smaller molecules more prone to leaking. But that's not something anyone likes to point out. Also, I bet we could easily use smaller amounts of the old formulas with better efficiency and beef up the plumbing required to minimize leaks.
Yup that's the jist of it, as I understand. Don't worry... You can now buy a new frige with propane refrigerant. It can never be recharged in the field.
I saw this video on X a few weeks ago, this man is amazed they(the bulbs) are back and it looks like he is in a Home Depot. I looked on Walmart website, they do show some available too. https://x.com/HealthOrganica_/status/2044809793622450544
Finally. I have to sit in the dark at work b/c the lighting kills my eyes. Plus there is nothing prettier than incadescent bulbs at Christtmas time with that warm welcoming glow!!
I hope they stop the SPY network supposed to be in all new 2027 models where the AI in the vehicle can determine if you are able to drive by facial recognition.
Yes, this is far worse than any mandatory safety or efficiency feature. We’re gonna have to jailbreak our cars in the future. Not looking forward to that
This is literally the worst thing I hate about my car while driving. I always have to remember to turn it off. There isnt even a way to set the default to OFF.
I used to occasionally drive a company work van that had that button. One day I pushed the button over and over again in frustration, and the button broke. This was a great day. Coworkers thanked me. I was the maintenance manager, and I literally fixed the worst feature in that van by accidentally breaking it.
They should also get rid of the DEF requirement for diesels. Clean burning diesel technology is advancing enough that DEF doesn't provide much (if any) benefit.
If the feds are serious about improving mileage they should figure out a way to encourage affordable hybrid diesel-electrics. The batteries could be relatively small, reducing risk and weight. Some of the new electric motor technology is enabling powerful and light weight motors.
This is only one of many "improvements" that need to be removed because the improvements only give miniscule MPG improvements and cost the consumers thousands of dollars in repairs.
Here is a list
Electric motor steering assist. - repair $1500-2500.
Auto Start Stop - repair $1200-4000.
Constant Velocity Trans - repair $ 5000-7000.
Electric Radiator Fan - repair $ 700-1500
etc.
I only purchase old cars. The more technology they add simply creates more points of failure and expensive repairs. I want manual seats and hand roll-up windows.
The best improvement for vehicles was fuel injection and an electronic ignition system. That is where they should have stopped.
Now ban the chips and useless software that car companies are putting in to control you and your car. Get back to the basics and we will all be better off.
Auto start stop destroys transmissions. Not only is it an electronically controlled system but the transmissions require a different valve body that is extremely complex. Often, the channels in the valve body are blocked due to use because manufacturers claim the transmissions are “lifetime,” whatever that is supposed to mean.
I hope this system is removable and not just stopped. It makes no sense to me. Also they shouldn't charge us for it, if it is removed-I never wanted it and I should not have to turn it off if I never wanted it. It shouldn't come on with me, or whoever, starts the car.
It also enables about a $4000 repair job (or worse, a new engine) when the engine throws half of the lifters and croaks, which they almost always do. Worst. Design. Ever.
very true... and not to mention needing a tow truck to get a dead car in for service. that all consumes energy... and then all the energy used to make new starters.... there's the distribution of all the starters all over the country to parts stores... all those trucks consume way more fuel that a car will ever save..... let's not forget to mention that more and more cars have turbo-charged engines... when your engine stop suddenly at the red lights... the turbo housings are very hot... when the engine stops so does the oil flow... those bearings will cook the oil almost instantly when the cooling effects of the oil stops. turbos are not cheap either.
I just cant' get behind Pascal Najadi's claim, which he made when he popped onto the scene as the son of the founder of the WEF, that he's a Swiss citizen member of U.S. Space Force. Any one else smell a phony?
Still waiting for incandescent bulbs to be unbanned. And we need the truth about "ozone depleting" refrigerants.

Enshitification at its purest form.
AND YOU HAVE TYPED A MOUTHFUL...I tell ya'!!!!!!!! The cars NOW are WAY to COMPLICATED along with the "CHIP" that is also on the car!!@@@
The automakers just make the cars PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE TO GET MORE BANG AND LET THE BUYERS PICKUP THE TAB!!!!!!!!
That is all!!!!

What you're suggesting actually makes sense, but nobody can grift off of that.
What about muh ozone hole? Yea it was a scam. You can still get bootleg R22. Eff Dupont.

Enshitification…is now in my vocabulary dictionary. TYVM.
Chem trail also.
Re-legalizing Refrigerant 12 is more important than a lot of people realize.
Here's the full story.
I want incandescent bulbs!

Thanks, but I don’t want to pay over $500 in shipping charges for 12 bulbs.

Please let it be true! 🙏

Kek. Breaking good, not breaking bad.
There probably is a way to set the default, within the OBD, whose options the owner is often locked out of, due to lack of expensive terminal.
Yes. It is bad. Whatever Obama wants, bad for you.
Bring back classic muscle cars
Yea no new cars for me. I want an old bronco for daily driver.
I have two young boys and I've telling them, "I want you to do two things, be nice to everyone and learn how to hack."

They need a market for all that pig piss. It's toxic waste, but dilution is the solution to pollution
I remember that mantra from grade school. I guess that dates me a bit.

All the added weight and complexity has only increased the total cost of ownership.

My daily is a 6 speed manual SUV. Gets north of 30mpg on average. I was lucky to get one of the last ones they made.
Now ban the chips and useless software that car companies are putting in to control you and your car. Get back to the basics and we will all be better off.
Now pull the LED lights off automobiles. They are blinding.

If you can disable it, do it.
that was a mandate? I wouldn't know I drive pre-2010s
But how can the govt mandate a company to do anything to their product. Makes no sense
Just wait until you hear about the mandatory ai monitoring systems they just mandated for 2027 and beyond cars.
But they already mandate air bags, anti lock brakes, backup cameras, tire pressure monitoring, and maybe a couple other things.
I do agree it makes no sense and is bullshit though.

Auto start stop on our crz enables 50mpg mileage
i love it
It also enables about a $4000 repair job (or worse, a new engine) when the engine throws half of the lifters and croaks, which they almost always do. Worst. Design. Ever.
And without the auto start stop your car would get 48 MPG. You will never get a return on investment what you need to replace a worn out starter.
