Teacher here: Things are rigged against us. Larger classes, more tests, more standards, more certifications, more requirements, inadequate ways of teaching, and making sure kids are bored make teaching very difficult. The only way to meet all of the math standards is to have math in science, and ELA. How do we get the writing time done, we write math problems too. How do we cover all of the standards? Define teaching as “the student will be exposed to these skills...”. This does not include how we need to cover pride month, black history, cultural diversity (IMO - it’s nice to add some cultural flavor to a lesson, but I don’t think kids should be allowed to know more about Aztecs then the American Revolution in America). Again, my opinion, but we need to teach the common history that ties us together, rather than learn how evil America has been. After all, bad people do bad things. That doesn’t mean that all Americans are responsible for the evil of the Masons...

Oh my... I am afraid to share, and will try not to be graphic... It took me awhile to get the lighter placement, timing, legs positioning correct. At a party I once burned off part of my friends mustache. It was a story that followed me into my 20s... I am not a flatuartist, but I can be dangerous :)

NSFW comment - Everytime I see “Gas Lighting” - I think of a high school friend who used to light his farts on fire. Yes it was disgusting, stinky, and worse when rear end hairs were singed. Gas lighting = worse smell - more disgusting...

Our school district is in a tight place: unmask - make a large group of parents (and the community mad), keep the masks and a different group is mad. The school is keeping the temp cooler, and less humidity; so, kids will sweat less...
If the community rose up and said “no more masks”, it would support the school enough to make it happen.
I must add: what do you let your kids play? What do you let your kids watch, and listen too? What do you play, watch, listen too? Good habits are caught, not taught. It’s harder to have good character when you slap, kill, steal, and rape in a game.
Lol - I know em too... I came to teaching late in life - my first day was after I was 40. I took a pay cut leaving my last job to teach. I personally put enough time in during the school year to equal full time hours over the summer. That doesn’t take into account I needed a second job to be a teacher (pay cut). God called me into teaching, and has blessed me greatly.

As a friend explain you feel uncomfortable, and that you are worried about your friendship. You can explain that you feel your friend should live a happy life filled with love. You can also explain that as a follower of Jesus you would like to offer your understanding of Salvation. Personally I would skirt around the bigger issue with love. In the end: all sin is equal in that it will keep you out of heaven (I do believe there are different shades of sin).
You have so much information wrapped in such a small space, I would call this a Truth Bomb! Thank you Fren! That was the final piece I needed to morally walk away from the curriculum and simply do what is best. I have tried so hard to follow the rules, but your statement gives me the truth I need. I will fail the system to teach better.
