An actual coup, which was already in motion, and known about by Trump and others on his team and within the CoC, was finalized on Jan 6th. Perhaps it will one day come out that Pence was purposely allowed or even commanded to execute this final action of certifying electors. We may never know.
Before, on, and after Jan 6th, Trump and serval of his team took defensive and offensive actions.
