I think POTUS knows the Republicans will never eliminate the filibuster from the Senate rules. So, my curiosity is why does he keep banging on this?

My gut says he has a reason for wanting to prolong the government shutdown. He believes the Dems would dearly love to see the Republicans nuke the filibuster before the midterms. So, they will keep holding out and, in some way, play into President Trump’s hands.

I’ve been way too busy to keep up with everyone’s thoughts here, but this is a topic that has caught my attention.

I’m just shocked anyone ever found what she does remotely educational. Her popularity makes no sense to me at all.

This a total Uniparty move. President Trump has made it clear Social Security is not to be touched. And, in doing so, he has taken one of the perennial issues off the table that attracts retirees to the Dems. But, just in time for the midterms, Rand Paul is out there trying to throw the Dems a life preserver.

You’re right, a person can start drawing a reduced amount at 62 and the so called full retirement at 67 years of age. And, just about everything you can read makes drawing at 62 sound like a bad idea.

I did a back of the envelope analysis and if a person only makes the average life expectancy, they draw more money out if they start at 62 years of age. If you live past 80, you draw more money out if you wait until you reach the “full retirement” age.

I’m thinking there is a big difference between influential MAGA people and MAGA Influencers, and POTUS does things to expose it.

The former believe deeply in the MAGA cause. The latter are posers who don’t really care about MAGA principles, they want to influence the MAGA movement in directions that suit them or their handlers.

Looking at your second point, I remember a big discussion about using period correct legal dictionaries during a Congressional hearing. It was the hearing the Dems used to justify President Trump’s first impeachment.

What I remember is the only thing the constitutional scholars seemed to agree on was the necessity to consult legal dictionaries that contained definitions from the time a legal document was written.

I looked at raising meat chickens, but we don’t have a State or USDA poultry processor nearby. Even if we did it would take a substantial cut of the profit from selling direct to consumers.

I know in my state the limit for on farm poultry processing is 20,000 chickens. Above 1,000 there are some additional hurdles, but they don’t seem too complex and no inspection of the animals is required.

What stops me is the thought of putting together a team that can process that many birds. If we can’t find help to make small square bales of hay, I’m doubtful people will want to process chickens.

Something doesn’t sound totally right in this story. New Hampshire seems to need three things: smarter State Representatives, better news reporters, and more State or USDA Inspected meat processors.

I’ve lived in three different states that had different levels of legal meat processing: Custom, State Inspected, and USDA Inspected.

Custom butchering is the term for someone buying a live animal (whole or on shares) and having it butchered for their use only. There is no inspection for custom processing.

A farmer can only sell red meat directly to a consumer if it is processed in an inspected facility. If it’s USDA inspected they can sell direct to consumers nationwide.

If it’s State Inspected they can sell direct to consumers within the state. And, fairly recently there is a provision where state inspected facilities can qualify to ship out of state. New Hampshire can control its own destiny by enabling more State Inspected meat processors.

My first reaction when I heard the news about his assassination, was at least one data mining, super computer knew this was going to happen. And, whomever controlled that computer did nothing with the information.

So, POTUS is going to fire the guy who made sure the world is aware the Warp Speed vaccines perfectly matched the virus at the time?

The guy who is saying POTUS deserves a Nobel Prize for using Warp Speed to defeat the DS lockdown forever team?

And, the guy who, if we read between the lines, not so subtly insinuated the Covid jabs were changed after POTUS left office?

Typical, totally wrong analysis by Chuck Todd.

I can’t recall that many Presidents and Prime Ministers being summoned, and more importantly, showing up at the White House. When you add in the short time factor it almost seems scripted.

I’m guessing the coffee substitute tastes similar to chicory? I have had a hot chicory drink from the north of France and liked it.

Back in the 60’s, in early spring, my mom would send us kids out to cut dandelions. She would make a hot bacon dressing loaded with onions and pour it over the greens. It was a combination that made them palatable.

I also know people who would gather the dandelion flowers then batter and fry them. They are actually pretty good.

I wish I could find an article I read back in the 90’s that detailed how the left was recruiting non-believers to infiltrate Christian Seminaries. I think the title of the article was based on a 70’s folk song “Look What They’ve Done to My Song, Ma,” because the lefties who infiltrated the Churches were changing the words in traditional hymns to “inclusive language.”

I clearly remember one part of the article where a Professor at one Seminary felt something was wrong and asked the students how many believed in God? Something like 10% raised their hands. Long story short the article was pretty much describing the new Pastor at my church so I left there soon after.

The 25th Amendment already contains language that Congress can define set of people to decide if a President is fit to remain in office. Pelosi was talking about this when POTUS had Covid. There is no need for a new Constitutional Amendment.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide,

That is pretty impressive.

Another thing that intrigued me about Speaker Johnson is how often he had face-to-face meetings with President Trump while POTUS was out of office. It seemed to me an in person meeting is only necessary if you want your discussions to remain private. And, made me believe his moves and countermoves, while unpopular with many, were done with the help and blessing of POTUS.

Like so many things, we’ll have to wait for future to prove past to know for sure.

Why would Vladimir Putin and Russia want to damage the chances of their friend who pushed through the Uranium 1 deal for them? Knowing how critical HRC was in helping Russia purchase U1, the whole Russia, Russia, Russia narrative never made sense.
