Your immune system can be faulty in many ways. It can over react to something, under react to something. For example, you can Trust your immune system to heal from an ear infection - your body will heal, but at the same time, there may be long term damage from the protracted healing, that will cause other problems later on.
This is commonly seen in EBV cases. Your immune system can take care of it, to a degree, but that in turn can lead to other issue.
Is COVID as dangerous as they've made out? No, not for all people. But the immune system is nowhere near as simplistic as you are making out.
If a vaccine were to work with minimal damage, it'd be great honestly. Not all vaccines or treatments are bad.
