We were looking to buy a second home in the mountains of Western NC. We didn’t buy anything bc we ended up having to redo our own home after we got flooded out by Hurricane Flo in 2018. we still kept visiting though.

We ended up changed our minds after the houses doubled in price during and after COVID. Before COVID a 2 bedroom cabin could be found in the 200ks. Many homes were listed for months before CoVId. Then the mountains got popular and prices were doubled (or even tripled depending where you looked) and so did the mountain populations. And when we went in the summer we usually rented a cabin. The last time we went in 2022 it was too crowded for us.

I suspect home prices there will drop precipitously now. It should be interesting to see if they will even rebuild in some of these areas.

Didn’t know who Jaguar White was. Had to look her up. Since she’s in the entertainment industry I would think she would be in the know about these things.

No I don’t. It popped up on FB. Said the village was devastated by flooding but the Estate itself was spared.

I was really impressed with Vance. He’s definitely future presidential material.

I just spent all day looking for supplies in Wilmington NC to send out to Western NC.

There’s a group of people in my neighborhood who already delivered a truck of supplies to Black Rock in the mountains. They made it!

When we here in the coastal plains of NC were hit with the flood waters of Hurricane Flo people from Block Rock came to our aid. Now it’s our turn to assist them.

Costco was all out of bottled water. It was crazy in there. Probably people panicking from long shore man strike. I’ve never seen that many people in Costco ever! There was even a long line just to exit.

I ended up getting water at Lowe’s, but they were all out of gas cans.

I gathered as much stuff as I could afford from hardware and grocery stores and dropped it off to my neighbor’s home.

There are so many churches here in my own area gathering things up to send there. I just hope it gets there soon.

FWIW The churches do a much better job than the Federal Government.

Give your donations to them

As a former Hurricane Flo flood victim evacuated by boat and were given refuge (with our pets) at a local Baptist Church. Stayed there for 3 days until the roads reopened. During our stay there they fed us 3 meals, handed out extra water, even found me some baby wipes. They even had a huge group of Emergency Trucks that came in from the south and we were able to take hot showers and have our laundry done. They even gave out spare clothing for those who came without anything but the clothes on their backs.

A day after we arrived the people who were housed in a government shelter were bussed to the Baptist Church. Their roof was leaking they had no food or water and generally were sleeping on the floor. (We were given cots). They were amazed by the difference in care.

I read online the Biltmore Building was not affected by flooding but some of the gates and lower areas of the estate were.

In General Asheville which went under water is a very liberal city. Yes, there are many conservatives who live in the mountains but even many mountain cities are blue (The city of Boone which also got hit may also be blue).

You’re welcome. I have to do my own research onto it.

Been taking bible study with a group of other women from other denominations. So it’s useful to learn how to justify my own faith as it relates to the Bible.

I just gave you one link about Saints. Here is another that actually gives you the biblical references for why Catholics pray to saints: https://www.ncregister.com/blog/4-biblical-proofs-for-prayers-to-saints-and-for-the-dead

There are many others if you try want to delve into it. I am no theologian so I cannot draw you to biblical references. I do know there are more books in a Catholic bible than a Protestant one, however.

Being raised Catholic I never questioned it. It’s tradition. We celebrate All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day. And everyone who goes to Heaven becomes a saint.
Some lived lives that the Catholic Church recognizes.

Again we do not worship them nor do we worship their statues.

Just so you know praying to saints dates way back to the very early church. And the first Christian Church was Roman Catholic.

I’m a practicing Roman Catholic

You are correct May and the saints are not omnipresent. However this may help you understand:

https://catholic.cafe/2020/01/16/are-mother-mary-saints-and-angels-omnipresent-like-god-to-listen-to-prayer-requests-of-the-faithful-from-different-locations-on-the-planet-at-the-same-time/#:~:text=Mother%20Mary%2C%20the%20Saints%20or%20the%20Angels%20are,%28Ephesians%203%3A20%29.%20It%20is%20God%20who%20empowers%20them.

Catholics pray to the saints and especially to the Blessed Mother to intercede for us. We also ask them to pray for us. We do NOT worship their statutes NOR do we worship them.

We pray the prayer above to St Michael to protect us. We have different Saints we pray and ask help from. Some have specific novenas you can pray to specific saints to help us find lost things, ask for healings, etc.

I often pray the prayer above to Saint Michael but don’t typically pray to other saints for their help.

We pray aloud and also silently on our own.

This morning before Mass at my church we prayed the rosary aloud as a group. We will be praying the rosary every Sunday before Mass bc October is respect life month.
