Right ... you can't sue a politician, or as a politician GET sued. We are not politicians. We are private citizens. It is likely that people in your 'orbit' know your political affiliations. It would stand to reason then that if someone outside of the political arena that has the 'pulpit ' you don't have to defend yourself, made a defamatory statement against your group affiliation (such as suggesting we are terrorists), then we as a private citizens should have a right to legal redress.
You can sue for anything that you want. Whether or not you will win is another story. You would have to prove actual harm that was done to you as a result of the defamation.
I can see a lot of lawyers getting rich from representing people who have lost their jobs because of their political leanings.
