I was recently let go due to a new HR director who subscribes to CRT. She felt my efforts to remove a poor-performing employee with a severe disrespectful attitude was not in keeping with her philosophy of "providing a job for everyone" despite the ability to do the job. I am going to let you play the "guess the race" game.
My question, which is not in keeping with this group's general message is about buying my own healthcare. Has anyone had experience buying a personal plan, if so what was your experience? Is it possible to get a good plan for a single person? Any insight offered is appreciated.
I apologize for creating a post, not in keeping with the theme of the group, but I this is my only social media outlet and I could use some help.
Thank you.
Geting rid of you doesn't comply with her philosophy of "providing a job for everyone" either.
Fair-minded individuals who believe in the principle of Meritocracy are not people in the woke world.
That is what I thought. Thanks for replying.
Yes, I was going to post the same thing as Atlas_One. Do you have any recourse for unfair dismissal?
Not sure. I haven't signed the "no recourse" ppwk yet. Gonna think about it.
Thanks for the reply.
Honestly? Get a lawyer who is familiar with employment tribunals. This smells of an opportunity to teach your former employer a lesson in #getwokegobroke.
Remember, those smiling enemies ain't your friends...
Do NOT sign until you have an attorney who works with the employee side of employment law review. They will pressure you, but you simply tell them ' I am not signing anything until my attorney reviews it.' It may be the attorney says to go ahead and sign, but it will send a clear message.
I hope you can get some good legal advice. Good luck! Report back if anything interesting comes of it.
Thank you.
File a complaint with the EEOC, for hostile work environment. I believe it’s offered by the government, or something like that so it shouldn’t cost you anything. It’s a basic right, to fight back if your unlawfully fired. I don’t know if you had insurance with this company or corporation before, but if you did, you could apply for COBRA, and should be able to keep your insurance, it costs more but it’s still less than having to have individual insurance. The upside is this, if you’re not working, and the unemployment that you receive is under a certain amount, you should qualify for welfare of some kind. Especially because of the pandemic, they’ve change some of the requirements. I don’t know what state you live in, or how all that works there, but these are some options you have. Definitely contact the EEOC. Are used to work for human resources for a large corporation. When people filed lawsuits against the company, they usually settle out of court. I need money that you can get for them for firing you with an unlawful cause, it’s a benefit that to you that you should use. I know some people don’t want to use the welfare system, but in a pinch, until you get a job, you may as well. Because all of these illegals coming in are going to use it anyway. At least you put into it, don’t be too proud!
There's nothing wrong with drawing unemployment insurance, because after all, we've paid for it. States have 'unemployment fund' payroll taxes.
I wouldn't feel guilty paying $250/month for auto insurance for years and then suddenly filing a $200,000 claim because I need major surgery. That was part of the contract.
Word! I feel ya!
Thanks for the advice. It is not something I would normally consider but maybe I should.
It has been a difficult pill to take. I have been steadily employed since I was 18 (I'm in my early 50s now). I feel so betrayed. When I was interviewed for the position, I was specifically asked by the EO if I had the skills to terminate poor-performing employees. My boss and the old HR director actually said to me that this person was "the worst employee in the whole group". I was simply doing what I was asked to do.
Unfortunately, we got a new HR Director and she had a different idea. It is my belief that she rationalized with me being white, "I had a better chance of getting another job" than the other person.
The biggest betrayal was that I did everything I could to help her when she first started. In an effort to build a strong working relationship, I took her out to lunch several times. She talked about race every time we went to lunch, and at first, I was open to having an honest dialog. Then one lunch she came right out and said “all white people are racist”, it was at that point I had to tell her that I didn’t feel comfortable discussing race anymore. After that, she started with the silent treatment and not even looking me in the face when we would encounter each other in the hall.
I am a very up-front person, so I struggle with a person harming me for no good reason. I have MS, which she knew, and taking away my ability to earn living and have healthcare goes beyond my ability to perceive her as being human.
Immediately get on unemployment like within two weeks, it’s your money so take it
Again that is something I have never really used before, but I am signing up tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply.
Every dollar you can get from the government is one less dollar Hunter Biden can spend on coke and whores. Grab it all.
If you are in good health you might try Medishare. It is cheap.
Thank you for the information. I will check it out.
FYI, these are cheaper but they have no obligation to cover anything. It's not necessarily bad, just beware that it's not insurance.
Nice, I’ve done it before, easy money. Don’t forget they tax it though
I was unfairly not contract renewed once, but God then blessed me with the best job I have ever had! I pray the same blessing for you.
EEOC claims and other things have timelines that you must meet. Do it quickly before time runs out. From my understanding of the EEOC process, nearly all claims are dismissed after being investigated... Don't be discouraged, the dismissal is actually a right to sue letter. It means you have to use your own lawyer and not the government taking the case on your behalf.
It would probably be best to work with a lawyer before you file, but better to file than not at all. It's not about the money, its about the principle. Go woke, get broke.
Health insurance is overpriced. You will have an eye opener. When I lost my job, I had x number of days to elect COBRA. I waited just under x number of days before getting my own insurance. If I got sick, I would have bought COBRA. This saved me a month or two of premiums. For insurance, it was easier for me to avoid the exchange and buy insurance directly from the insurance company.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It's a shame that people get shanked for trying to do what's right.
Maybe God has something better lined up for you, it's worth considering whether there are other avenues you could/would like to pursue.
I worked in the corporate world for many years. People can be very catty. I’m sorry you had to experience this, but the Lord will bring you to something bigger and better. To be honest, he did you a favor. Having to work with a person like that every day can be quite difficult, and make somebody very downtrodden. Lift your head high! You no longer have to be in the presence of somebody who thinks that they’re better than you based on the color of your skin. Nobody deserves to be treated like that! I pray that you find a better job and a happier life. If in time that happens please get back to me and let me know, I’m excited to hear about your new future and what’s gonna be happening with you. God bless you and have a great day!
Thank you so much for the message. Your thoughts are appreciated. You are right about the atmosphere. It was very toxic. Truthfully I only stayed because the money was good.
Again, thank you for the sentiment. All the best to you and I return your wishes for good things heading your way too.
Take care.
I know this is probably not why you want to hear now, but just wait and see what happens to that department when people who work are let go and all they have left are the inefficient people. Trust me you’ll get the last laugh. Sending best wishes to you friend.
Agreed. It wasn't the greatest job, but it did pay pretty well.
Thanks for replying.
Yes I agree, karma is a powerful thing, and it is real. If the action is unjustifiable, then the reaction will definitely come, and it won't be pretty. My husband and I were once victimized to the point of moving, by a prominent doctor who lived a few doors down. His children threw rocks at our house, he would drive too close to us if we were walking on the road, and he tried to choke my husband underwater in the surf. He was de-certified for fraud a few years later and had to start a new career.
If you are correct about the reason for being fired, I'd find a good employment law lawyer in your area. You might have a great case of reverse discrimination.
In terms of healthcare, if you're younger and in good health get a plan that covers catastrophic issues. That's where the big costs come in. For the routine stuff, pay out of pocket. If you were covered by health insurance at the job you were fired from, make sure you tell your lawyer. That could also be a claim you have.
Maybe you are right. I am just dumbfounded and still processing it all. How can someone harm another for something like CRT?
Thanks for the advice and reply.
But you have MS? THEY FIRED A DISABLED PERSON WITHOUT CAUSE??
I second this - that and you mentioned you are over age 50? Age related discrimination.
Make them play by their own rules.
Edit to add: COBRA premiums are expensive because you are paying the group rate. I don't know how much you paid as an employee, but my employer covers 75% of the cost. It can be a real shocker. This is a qualifying event, so look at individual coverage as well - it won't be inexpensive, but you should compare.
I know you are in shock, but Do. Not. Back. Down. Your job now is to fight for you.
single, individual, plans are generally reasonable. look up individual plans for your state and then find a broker who can show you plans available
I've heard of health care co-ops where folks pool their resources to get a reasonably priced plan. Alternatively, you could start your own business and purchase insurance through the Small Business Admin.
I sincerely hope this door closing provides you a far brighter future. I recently witnessed this happen to a guy who lost his job and was financially devastated. He moved to a different state and got the job of his dreams making more money at a conservative company where he isn't required to wear a mask. He's a much happier person these days.
Thank you so much for the sentiment and the positive bump. I am hoping that things will turn out for the best.
All the best to you.
There are religious based co-ops that have reasonable plans. If I didn't get mine free, that's where I'd go.
Thank you for replying and for the tip. I will check it out.
All the best.
Medishare is a good one.
Someone mentioned that. I got some great advice. Thanks for replying.
All the best.
Sorry to hear this clown world claimed your job. Samaritans ministry is a health sharing program that I believe gets you around the obummercare requirements. https://www.samaritanministries.org/
Clown world is no lie. I am still trying to wrap my head around it. I did nothing wrong and I got the boot.
Thanks for the link and regards.
All the best.
I don't have insurance because I think it's a scam. However, I realize that doesn't help you.
You might get some better answers here: https://communities.win/c/Health
They just don't pay the bill, and ignore the debt, pay in cash for everything. I know a few people who do the same.
This is more common than most people realize. My uncle negotiated a $30K hospital bill for my aunt's appendicitis down to $10K.
Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the sentiment and link.
This screams lawsuit
We are with Samaritan Ministries. They are amazing and worth a look for Christians, requires signature of church rep.)
Thank you so much for the comment. It means a lot that someone out there wishes me well.
All the best to you.
Government is paying for Cobra and Obama Care now due to covid. Not sur if you can jump through enough hoops due to circumstances, but its woth a try. I would go for cobra, it keeps the same insurance your employer had for a period of time. Your crack HR Director should have provided information or told you they would be sending you information in your exit interview. If not your rights may have been violated. Another question to ponder is, do you live in a right to work state. A whole other subject that mat apply dependent on what actually happened on record.
Thanks for the reply.
I am going to look into Cobra.
Reading through the comments, I noted a similarity to two novels/stories: Atlas Shrugged and Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron... There are pieces of "legislation" uncannily similar to both stories ending up in "congress" (a group of baboons). Title IX is replaced with the Sports Fairness Act, and unemployment is protected for "underachievers"... Mid 20th Century authors a seers??
Dude its called THE INTERNETS
So you're still here with the dooming, but evidently kicking it up yet another a notch to make it seem more personal?
So you don't believe there is a plan?
And then you lost your smell permamently to the Coof?
And now you lost your job because someone in HR (who evidently likes to live very dangerously vis-a-vis employment law) decided to fire you from your good-paying job instead of a poor-performing subordinate... because of CRT?
And, on top of that, we're now your only outlet?
In the off chance this ever-growing epic of woe is true, you've got some good advice out of people here. Because this place is truly a good-hearted bunch.
But I'm not buying this ever-escalating, passive-aggressive, sad-sack doomer act for a second.
What did I do to attack you?
Yes, I am going through a rough patch. I apologize if it does not suit your idea of who I am suppose to be.
Let's hope you never have to go through one, but I will make sure to put in a request just for you.
I did get some good advice from some GOOD PEOPLE, of which you obviously do not know anything about.
Get a life and get out of others. TIT
Stay encouraged and don’t worry about it. We are family here!
If you can get sympathy and advice with your tales of woe and doom on a research (and frog-meme) site beset by woe-peddling doomer shills, well yay for you. Again, these are good people here. But cut it with the textbook crybully comeback when someone notes that it all sounds fantastically concocted. If you maintain that was an errant assumption, consider why, and then just move on.
What is so hard for you to accept someone having a bad time? I struggle to understand why you have to be so hate-filled over something that has nothing to do with you.
I don't do social media, this site is my only social media effort. I saw that other people had posted their issues for advice and thought to try it myself. I normally fix my own problems but I thought I would try reaching out to others this time.
So now you have problems because I responded to your nasty post? I should be sad for you but I know that you are just meat, so it means nothing.
Ok, sure, pal.
The troll is so thick on you we can smell it, but I guess that’s something I take for granted, not having lost my smell (permanently? reaally? ?) to the Wuflu.
I suspect the reason the Bolsheviks endlessly remind us that Hitler burned books is because their playbook always involves poisoning the minds of children using white genocidal propaganda.
Thanks for the reply. I am actually 50/50 Hispanic and white. Guess I am going to have to start using my mother's side of the gene pool going forward.
Yet you were let go because someone with a darker skin deserve the job more than you do? This is fking asinine. We're truly living in a clown world.
While I'm disabled, I'm white and this is my fear when I'm going to start searching for my career job and I feel this will not bode me well because they will look at my skin color, while ignoring my disability (which I prefer) but also ignoring my skills. I'd rather they depend on people who are capable of doing the job, rather than using a race card, measuring how dark their skin is in order to qualify for the job.
All in all, I think she did you a favor because you won't be there at the end of it when the shit hits the fan and the company goes into flames. You got out just in time, IMHO. Also I agree with most of the people here, you need to lawyer up because this is blatant discrimination (or at least reverse discrimination) and to think we're going backwards, rather than forward now... Next thing they will incorporate at the workplace you got let go of, is separate water fountains and separate bathrooms...
