I'm $4000 away from paying the mortgage off on my 200 year old home that my father restored 40 years ago. I've fought tooth & nail to not lose this property to NY taxes. I have 200+ acres, was born & raised here, came back to raise my own children here. Medically I qualify for disability but continue to work so that I CAN afford to stay here, but because of that I cannot afford to up and leave.
No one is going to buy this property in the middle of no where without a massive financial loss to me.
That is the heart breaking decision I'm facing as a birthright resident of this state...walking away from everything I wanted, everything I did for my family, where I planned to die.

In my world (the one where things are logical and make sense) this would operate like those warrant roundup stings where they tell the target population they've won a big prize and have to come to a centralized location to pick it up. There's balloons, photographers, and red-carpet treatment. Then they head behind the curtain to the back room to pick up their actual prize, and are met with (in this case) ICE agents and a bunch of chartered busses headed straight to the airport for a mass deportation exercise. (sigh) It's sad New York isn't my world.
