Something don’t smell right with this whole thing....... it’s orbiting erratically for starters and “experts” say they don’t know where it’s gonna land ?? Unless I’m missing something big I find that hard to believe .... the world has been shooting stuff into space for almost 70 years now and have always been able to know where the re entry items would land with some degree of accuracy ...... what’s the diff with this one
It technically is always falling. ISS is in a low enough orbit that the very thin atmosphere there slows it down slowly and without regular thrust to maintain orbit would decay back to earth. It blew my mind when I learned how far out the atmosphere goes (like individual molecules, not thick air, just enough to gradually slow down orbits)
And it did. I remember driving w my aunt n grandmother listening to it on the car radio.
I think it fell in Australia . Ok factually I was paying more attention to my pet rock at the time. ?
Controlled (i.e. thrust-vectored) re-entries of objects with known and planned orientation / orbital dynamics are much easier to predict than this hunk-o-junk
I briefly heard on the news continental US - likely somewhere between IL and NY. I think they don't want people to panic. The thing weighs 18 tons. They think 4-5 tons will reach earth. Most things this size usually land in the pacific and don't cause a problem as a result. However, 4-5 tons of debris landing on a continent is going to be huge. It's the equivalent of 8-10 airplane crashes.
something will land on the audit building and be blamed on space junk.
The DS know that, for them, this is a genuine existential issue and as per 9/11 when much evidence was destroyed (Abel Danger) so blowing up the audit must be a real threat.
maybe that explains the air activity over the area.
The orbit is straight, it's the earth that is rolling in its daily wobble. The earth is tilted at approximately 23 degrees from the plane of the ecliptic, and it wobbles. Look at orbits going back to our very first satellites and space capsules, they all had that "sine wave" look to them. The earth's spin is not stable like a spinning top. If I remember my Astronomy 101, I think it's call "precession".... the way the earth wobbles as it spins.
It's decending, and will be slowed down a huge chunk by the atmosphere. But by the time it's close to the ground (think 1-10km) it could still be going around 800-1500 km/h. Still extremely dangerous ⚡⚡
It's estimated that the Tungusta event was caused by a meteor traveling at over 54,000 km/h and was about 65 meters in diameter. So much more mass than the Chinese object, and at much greater speed as it hit the atmosphere, caused that kind of damage in Tungusta. I wouldn't worry too much about this piece of space junk.
But, that event had the asteroid coming in a 40,000MPH.. It exploded before it could hit and the shockwave was more ferocious than the more recent event in Russia..
Quick, everyone, head to Canada! Anyway, the re-entry should be spectacular to watch, hoping it enters the atmosphere at night time so we can all see the fireworks. Much of Earth is ocean and unoccupied areas, from the Ural mountains and the Russian steppes, to the great plains of Mongolia to the jungles of Africa and South / Central America, and the American west. The chance of this thing falling on a populated city, or even a small town like mine, is rather remote.
Are all the tools sold at Harbor Freight made in China? I went in one of the stores once, but didn't buy anything; just all seemed pretty bad quality to me.
Kinda weird, I posted the message below a while ago, but when I was checking a response to another post I made on this entry, it was gone:
It looks like a normal orbit to me. Any orbit around the globe, when plotted on a map in 2 dimensions, will look "erratic'. It seems like with the regularity of the orbit, it should be possible to estimate the time blocks when the trajectory would put it over the U.S. (or anywhere else in the world), such that there could be a table that shows, for example, between 3:30 and 3:35 EDT, on Saturday, it will be over X portion of the U.S., between 4:25 and 4:30 EDT, on Saturday, it will be over Y portion of the U.S., and so on. That way, if you hear it's coming down, you could look at the table and say, "Oh, looks like it will miss the U.S., or uh oh, I better call Aunt Edna, because it looks like it's going to crash along a line that passes through Kansas".

Uummm...cuz it’s Chinese junk?
r/chinesium
Nahh...the Chyneez prolly own half the County.
I am old enough to remember a political cartoon of a chicken running around yelling 'The Skylab is falling! The Skylab is falling!'

Did you also get the "Sand Breeding Kit"? :)

If they really put no effort in to track its descent, they wouldn't be able to provide that data to anyone else either.
Let's hope it lands on the White House.
It will land directly on the bldg where the audit is taking place...

we should know by Saturday or Sunday
That’s the DS preemptive response. RODS OF GOD! Eyes on the obelisk!
I was thinking the Beijing, or Hollywood.
No save the house, get rid of the infestation.
I think it said 41 hrs.
fat fingered numbers?
The man is blind! Haha
It's from CHINA
WalMart trash.
Maybe the white hats took control of it and are aiming at something. "News unlocks map." "Find the markers."
No theories that it's actually a weapon?
It is from fucking China.

Here's a link to a tracker:
https://aerospace.org/reentries/cz-5b-rocket-body-id-48275
and there's 10 more launches planned by the end of next year!
whoa... the thing weights 18 metric tons, and it's moving at over 28k km/h
I'm no physicist, but I feel something like that could level a few blocks...
Also what's up with that orbit? it's like a sine wave almost...
The orbit is straight, it's the earth that is rolling in its daily wobble. The earth is tilted at approximately 23 degrees from the plane of the ecliptic, and it wobbles. Ohhh, of course, I feel like an idiot now...
Thanks for clearing that up.
Not at all, everyone of us brings different skill sets to GA... carry on, anon.
Precession of the equinoxes

Think of the Tunguska event which leveled 800 square miles of trees.

no def not that exetreme
holy crap...
It could level an entire city, a large one at that. Saying that the object doesn't break up on re-entry.
Rods from god
Sounds like a great cover story to strike basically any target in the world.
Lets hope they dont like the Cabal either

What's with the velocity and altitude chart? Those massive spikes? Actually asking as I have no idea the mechanics of it

Probably 95% if not 100%.
It’s like “round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows.” ??
Scary part of this is it’s from chyna...... could be a dirty bomb on it, warhead ect On purpose who the hell knows with them
