If true, this is desperation from Xi and likely the people that will reign him in are those powerful enough in China to offer him up as a sacrificial lamb. The CCP, like any powerful organization, has all kinds of opportunists waiting for their moment.

Hu Xijin, the person who posted the threat, is a CCP journalist. Its notable that he is trying to convince China to increase its nuclear power but otherwise he's just a journalist, not someone with power (as far as I know)
It was explained around there that the China News are owned by the CCP and they chose what to publish... so... something to think about it.

When I got my first job out of college i was working for a lithography company designing laser/optical delivery systems for machines that make microchips. Our biggest buyers were intel and amd.
