In the US, political power starts at the grass roots and flows upward, to municipalities, counties, and states. The counties and states have all the real power, although some really big municipalities can rival that as well.
You could see an example of that when AG Garland wanted to interfere in the AZ audit, but could do nothing. By the way, it is not the AZ audit - it is the Maricopa COUNTY audit (just one very populous county in the state of AZ).
In the same way that we really don't have national elections (they are the sum total of all the state elections), the states are the sum total of all the county elections... so all the important forensic audits must be done at the county level, not the state level... the counties have the power (jurisdiction) in that situation.

When I was a young a adult, my parents pulled the same thing on me when I started college. I wanted to take a year off, make money to pay my own way. They forced me to go on financial aid, and then paid any extra owing money themselves. Said this is for the best.
Little did young me know that what they really wanted was full access to my school accounts because "they paid for my schooling". So as revenge, which in hindsight is a fuxking stupid tactic, and I don't recommend doing it. I started to tank my courses, skip, and do the bare minimum. I endured hell for myself just to spite them. They forced me back on a repeat, except paying for the full tuition so I owed them. I did the same thing, but this time I did it unconsciously, so I was really upset when I failed out.
Time went on, and I realized what they did to me. I moved out two years after those events, and went back on finacial aid solely this time. I learned for myself that college wasn't for me, and dropped out after a whole year. I then turned around, and took online courses for exactly what I was going to college for (programming and game dev) at a fraction of what I was paying the college for, and I enjoyed it. I am now making my own game, but still in debt.
Would I go back and worn younger me when given the chance? Of course, but then I wouldn't have the learning experience of how manupulitve my parents were when they wanted to be. Now that I am out, I still maintain contact with them, though don't allow them in my life too much. They will still know when I get a new girlfriend, marred, have kids, etc, but that scar will always remain.
I made a couple of big games, countless little ones. Now that games are popular and every kid wants to do it, I’m always asked for advice on how to break in. I know you are not asking, but I always say the same thing.
Make your own game first. Then you will know if that’s really what you’re supposed to do or you’re just caught up in the hype. Also, no better portfolio piece than a game you finished on your own that doesn’t suck.

Know a lot of these families, I’m very old. They think they’ve done everything right, but they chose bragging rights over their kids true purpose and having a real connection with them. We also made our son provide his own finances through a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering and he graduated at the top of his class. Even after he had to take Physics three times!! He paid his loans off in 3 years and now 8 years out of school he makes $127K a year creating financial program systems for a major healthcare provider. He bought a $220K home a couple years ago and is engaged to an equally successful young lady. How's that "make my own game" and "spite my parents" working out for you?
Considering I explained that I have learned my lessons, paid my dues, and know what I did to fuck up my own life, I know quite well what I have.
Despite all that happened, my parents still love me, they know I learned, but I still keep them at an arms reach when it comes to my life.
Also, your son was head of his class in como sci? Good for him. I am glad he is making you proud with his high pay check and life. Not an attack, genuinely proud for you. You don't need to attack someone who wants to follow his dream instead of settling for something he will hate doing, and probably hate those around him because of it.
I work grueling hours at 2 jobs that let me get by with no days off to pay penence for my young stupidly, yet I still find time to socialize and destress with those I love and care for, work on what I really want to do in my spare time when I have it. No need to attack someone who learned his lesson the hard way.
What you will "hate" doing? Do you really have hate in your heart or is it just 'dislike'? Hate is a corrosive soul crusher. Lose that word and emotion in your life/vocabulary and many things will likely change for you.
Let me rephrase then. Instead of looking solely on what makes a computer tick, I rather take the programming knowledge that I have and tell stories to people of other lands, then sit and program the next advancement in AI technology.
One thing my parents did foster in me was a sense of wonderment and to use my imagination to create things, which my great grandmother (May God watch over her soul) allowed me to explore more as I grew up. It allowed me to know what I liked and what I disliked about the world.
Like, I love to grow vegetables and feed myself instead of paying for them from a grocery store constantly. Going to learn how to can from my grandmother this year when the cucumbers grow. As side effect, I researched manu things to protect my garden and make it prosper, despite some plants dying, and my local rabbit problem (live ina city, so I can't just pull out a gun and shoot them)
When it comes to why I chose game developemt, s I stated above, its about showing people stories that have been in my head for years. I want to spread joy and happiness to people, while at the same time be happy they enjoy my stories.
As for rabbits menacing your garden, there are all sorts of chemicals to use against them. Nasty chemicals and not necessary. You can spray some vinegar around the perimeter or plant edges to repel them. Human hair clippings repels them, too. Coffee grounds sprinkled around plant bases will repel insects and help some for rabbits. Stick a 3-4 foot high stick or wooden dowel in the garden dirt at a slight angle (or off the fence) with a string and a strip of folded aluminum foil off it so it spins and moves and flashes reflections. Scares them. You can hang old CDs too that will reflect and spin. Human urine also repels rabbits but since you live in town, carry it outside in a cup to sprinkle around rather than apply it directly...😁
I was going to set up some pie tins this weekend when I was back home, as I was told that should help. Yiu described how it should be set up like my grandmother told me with the pie tins. Before the work week though, I swung over to the dollar store and got some cheap fencing to put along it. I am hoping it helps somewhat while I was gone at work.
The vinegar and coffee grounds sound like a good trick too. Should have some vinegar at home, and I can raid the coffee machine at my grandparents house for the grounds, as I don't drink coffee.
PS....If you buy vegie plants already started in the little pots, let them 'harden' outside for a couple days when you get them home before you put them in the ground. Let them get used to the sun and wind. Baby plants are grown in nurseries and not exposed to full sun and air currents till you take them home. Let them acclimate outside the nursery before transplanting. And ALWAYS let their dirt be a little dried out before transplanting. Transplant them dry and water them into the ground. Their little roots spread out under the ground that way and have a better chance to thrive. Pinch water leaves off the bottom of plants and let that callous for a couple days while they are hardening. You may have better luck with your plants surviving.
