I think the Bourdain documentary was intentionally desecrated with "deep fake" audio in order to cause this reaction in the news, hense further planting the seed in the public's mind that deep fakes exists, thus getting ahead of the future release of the info on Weiner's laptop.

I think this is more true than people realize. Not everyone wants - or has - access. A lot of the people who decided to leave the urban areas and work in much less populated areas have had problems with connectivity, speed, especially with everything becoming so heavily focused on video, especially in areas with few options for service. The idea that everyone is hyper connected is just not true. My MIL lives in the heart of SV and she does not have a computer, no cable. Just an antenna for TV. She reads a lot. She isn't ignorant. In some ways, I think she is better off.
