Costco was the first in our area to require masks. We called up and canceled our executive membership of 17 years the following day.

I love this area, I'm north of Spokane but I work right down by the Idaho state line. Real estate is exploding (I'm in the industry) so act fast. I bought a nice house on 5 acres in 2018 for 300k, it's now worth almost 700k 😂
I haven't worn a mask at all really but the last time was probably last summer. I really don't go out to bars anymore but restaurants don't care so I imagine bars are similar. Walmart, Costco, etc never say anything when I walk in

Just 10 minutes ago, the lady next to me at the self check out at the grocery store stopped packing her bags and glared at me. I just smiled and went about my business. Knowing the anger I triggered was good enough for me. AND No, she wasn't a fit woman.

Where I live, most of the people I see masking are working at shops which force them to mask. Almost all stores have newnmask sign on the door, almost everyone ignores it and no one says anything. The staff are just as friendly as usual and you can see when people are smiling with their eyes, even with muzzle. I see it when I make some small talk or wish them a nice day. I do see people masked voluntarily, but they are in the minority, and I've never had any negative interactions with them, these stories are bonkers to me and I've lived in places where people were much more polite than where I am now. I guess if I was confronted like that, I'd just tell them that they are free to make their own healthcare choices and I will make mine and give them a nice smile :D But I am always surprised to hear these stories and would love it people stated the general area they live (so I can avoid them)!
As someone who is classified as obese I am starting to think that's is a lie. I got COVID, it was horrible the first day and slightly better the second then by day 3 it was nothing more than me feeling like I had a bad flu. I wasn't hospitalized and I don't believe I had the "omicron" version because I lost all taste and smell (still don't have it). I don't believe obesity was a comorbidity I believe they had something else going on. (Also yes I know being overweight isn't healthy, I just think this is something else the media overplayed)
Glad to hear you are doing better. When I spiked up in weight, I just started walking. Nothing major. Just a walk around a block or two. Each week it go easier and easier and pretty soon I was walking miles.
It also seems to help get everything "moving" if you know what I mean. Start small. You can do it. We're here for you if you need encouragement.
Remember, there's a different between obese and morbidly obese. People who weigh 450+ lbs. are prevalent in this country, sadly.
If you have to use an electric cart to make it through a grocery store, you're morbidly obese.
And it's true that people that large are much more likely to have type 2 diabetes and much more susceptible to respiratory diseases, such as pneumonia, influenza or GMO common cold AKA Chyna flu.
Its actually less than 450lb that is morbidly obese as I am technically classified as this despite only being about 280lbs (I don't know if I still weight this much but that was the last time I weighed at a few months ago). It is based on your BMI.

I figured Kennewick was a pretty red area. I live in Orange County, CA and the only “Karen” moment I’ve had was at the Buffalo Wild Wings on West Gage in Kennewick. Purple haired monster BWW employee and the rest of the incompetent crew were running 30 minutes behind on my order as well as SEVERAL other folks. I was one of the more patient customers and, in the middle of a take-out logjam, this loser had the audacity to stop what it was doing to ask that I pull my mask over my nose. I literally laughed out loud and asked why my food wasn’t out yet.
