I'll have to dig for it. The rescue act of whatever (the hell it was called) required a social security number (not an ITIN) to get the federal relief stimulus. There were three broad categories of "illegal" aliens that qualified.
The first and second were those here under DACA and TPS (temporary protected status). These are technically aliens temporarily present in the US without status..... But in my book they qualify as 'legal'. Because hey, we have given them documents.
The third category was aliens who had SSNs but no longer had a valid status (I. E. Overstayed their visa or work permit).
This came up due to considerations in my 'day job'.
I'll see if I can find the relevant legislation. But no, not every border jumper got the stimulus. But some who HAD been here legally before but aren't legal now were able to get it.
Defrauding the People of the United States carries serious penalties.
This has to be Illlegal somehow. these traitors all need to be arrested and prosecuted

I work in finance. I have seen countless tax returns from illegals over the years. They file with an ITIN, yet also report income from a W2 with a stolen/fraudulent SSN. They have zero withholding from their paychecks. They claim dependents who are all in Mexico. They get thousands back every year, without paying a dime. We're talking untold billions of taxpayer money going to them. Could the gov stop that any time? Of course they could. It would take minutes to put a filter on filers who report W2 with an SSN that are filing under an ITIN. But they don't. They won't.
