It's too bad he had to have a stroke for her advice to finally work on him.. He lost 40lbs in 3 months (healthy weight now) and went from 7 medications down to 2..
From what I’ve researched, type 1 canbe reversed however you’re on a timeline. The longer you have been on insulin the less likely you can get off. If you can start treating the cause and healing your body within the first few months I think there’s a much higher chance of eliminating even type 1

T1 is usually caused by a trigger that causes the body's immune system to attack the pancreas, decreasing its ability to produce insulin. As an auto-immune condition, remission is always possible but rare. I would investigate those substances known to cause remission, such as Hydroxychloroquine.
Type 1 is different than type 2. If you have type 1 insulin is required. Your body doesnt make insulin at all. In type 2 insulin is produced but the body doesnt use it well. A type 1 has to cover their meals. To not do this isnt an option. These days a lot of Type 1s have insulin pumps that do this automatically.
I am a T1D. Once you get used to it (big learning curve), it's not so bad. I was diagnosed at the age of 25, a few years after getting the Anthrax vax. You guys will learn what to do, and he will be just fine.
Insulin won't hurt you. The best thing you can do is continue to live life like you always have. Learn the carb intakes of his favorite foods. Document what works. Then cue in on the patterns.
Don't be afraid of sweet food, just avoid the ones when a lot of highly concentrated added sugar. Other than that, keep him eating whatever he wants, being sure to count for the carbs with the insulin.
Also, those glucose tablets work pretty good in an emergency low. But, if he starts to feel low starting to come on, then a perfect go-to is a granola bar, or a fruit cup. Try to get something that is between 15-25 carbs.
Anyway, I'm sure you guys are getting tons of info thrown at you all at once. Just remember that you guys will learn how this works, and he will become a master at taking care of himself. Just be patient.

I recommend checking out Dr. Richard Bernstein’s book regarding diabetes. He himself was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 12….told he may not see his 18th birthday. Now in his late 80’s, he is still practicing medicine and going strong.

Your son and your family are in my prayers. There are many doctors online that talk about diets that help with epilepsy, diabetes, etc (very low carb diet, carnavore diet). Dr Berry and his nurse wife Neisha, Dr Eric Weisman, Dr Cyrus are a few that come to my mind. I hope God answers our prayers.
I second diet. Eliminate processed carbohydrates. Even with sensible diets they can really do a lot of harm I’d suggest watching Dr Eric Berg and Primal Edge health on YouTube. I’ve experienced the benefits of these diets for halting and reversing very serious conditions.

That's wonderful. I know it works for those with type 2 diabetes, but never heard of it working for type 1. Is that what he was?
