Why would people pay the BBC to hear non-stop propaganda lies?
That's the same reason I don't subscribe to the Houston Chronicle. I won't even line bird cages with it.
Ignorance. Before I awoke I listened to NPR and believed every word. Now I listen occasionally, when I don’t mind getting kissed off, just to learn what the enemy is thinking and planning.
The emotion they use makes it difficult to realize they’re manipulating the populace.
lol you actually believed that BLATANT, shrewd and OVERTLY BIASED propaganda?
I was younger and ignorant.
dude I wasn't even old enough to vote for obama in 2008 and I knew dems were AWFUL HUMAN BEINGS I hope you never fool yourself on anything in this world again.
Yeah. I don't understand how all that works. Is it like our paid cable networks?
No, in the UK, if you have a TV, you must pay a TV license fee. This license fee is used to support TV channels like the BBC. It's compulsory; essentially a tax to pay for public TV. People do try to dodge the fee, but vans roams the streets looking for TVs running (perhaps using electronic equipment, I don't know as I live in the US) in order to find TV license fee evaders. People are simply not paying the fee. I doubt it is because they've gotten rid of their TVs.
I remember when Bernie Sanders convinced Joe Rogan TV in the UK was free lol.
I already knew this at the time. Redpilled my normie friend on Bernie with that one
Wow. Outrageous!
Like in Germany: We have to pay for the brainwashing they serve us. In 2021 someone refused to pay it, because he has no tv since decades, and they send him to jail for 6 months. It is not connected to owning a tv, radio or computer, but to your home address. They simply assume that you use a device for information and therefore you have to pay.
The fee works out at £13.25 a month. For nearly half that price you can get Amazon Prime with all of its benefits. With everything online these days I wouldn't be surprised to hear most people have got rid of their TVs.
Can you legally dodge it by getting a TV with no OTA tuner?
Yes. I dated a guy from England and they charge fees for everything. I couldn’t believe it. A fee to have a boat. A lake fee per day to enjoy your boat. Yearly Fees for your cars. Fees galore! The councils up everybody’s ass about every little thing.
Their food prices were much better than ours. And the quality for produce and dairy was excellent. American dairy takes all the good fat out of our cream. Their heavy cream is decadent.
We have them on the beef though, and they have us on Ham.
Yeaaah, I'm the Tax Maa-aann. ( Bet you just sang that)
Basically what the other guy said. They use information gathered at point of sale ( if you bought a TV or subscription to a TV package etc to identify people who should pay. Rumour was they used to drive around with listening equipment..
Anyway, they rely on you incriminating yourself when they knock on your door. If you don’t invite them in, they cannot enter. They are not the police, they are a private company.
They will also try sending warning letters.
Some people have been avoiding these letters for years and years without repercussions.
Most pay to avoid the hassle.
Just never answer your door or mail, eh! I bet that most of the people who pay to avoid hassle have at least two jabs and wear their masks still. ;)
Just tell these licence snoopers "I do not watch live streaming broadcasts" and shut the door on them.
When you buy a TV it alerts them to your purchase and they send you a letter telling you to get a TV license.
I know someone that swears by the BBC. "I know American media lies but I trust BBC"
Many people still pay for cable in order to be brainwashed.
Millions of Americas pay far more every month to hear non stop propaganda lies.
It's called cable tv.
The fact that Brits have been ripped off with this mandatory tv license stuff for years is just ridiculous. I'm glad some people have refused to pay (that seems to be what the headline is implying.) I hope some of our British frens will explain this further.
Oi mate! Ya got a loicense fer dat tele do ya?!

I loved cancelling mine years ago AND giving a full, lengthy explanation as to why the Beeb sucked. Very enjoyable and satisfying.
I always wondered if you are bombarded by ads, or does the fee negate them?
No ads on the Beeb. Unsubscribed years ago, doubt its changed.
Thanks, I was always nosey about that.
When Top Gear was on with Clarkson, Hammond and May, OK, it might have been worth some money. (See, also: Dr. Who run by Stephen Moffat.)
What I expect is happening now is: streaming.
I was going to say we already got the best part of the bbc over here.
Newspapers, magazines were destroyed by propaganda, relentless adds, and social media. MSM, social media, Internet searches (Google, Brave, Bing) are destroying themselves with propaganda and censorship. Don’t forget Obama was the one who got a law passed that it was not illegal to spread disinformation and propaganda. Why would he do that unless he was trying to switch the narrative and change everything?
We used to trust the media. They broke that trust and will never get it back. Do not pay for lies and propaganda ever again. Bankrupt them completely. Do not let the government pay them with your tax money. They deserve the fate that befalls them.
WHAT??? Woes for Big Black C....???
...I'll see myself out. kek
and there's one standing right in front
Hold up. Tv license? You need permission to watch TV out there?
You need to pay for the privilege, even if you don't watch British Bull Corp.
I bet the use of the Plex/Sonarr/Radarr/Bittorrent stack in the UK is higher than everywhere else.
They killed Doctor Who. DEAD.
the Big Black Cock will no longer be Big.
the optimist in me hopes maybe the BBC will either be killed off or reform because of this. (lotta good classic tv made by the BBC back in the day, shame to lose that legacy)
The cynic in me is pretty sure the UK parliament will just say "fukkit," do away with the loicense, and fund the fuckers directly...
The realist is shrugging his shoulders and saying it's not my problem anyway, because I'm not british...
I don’t pay my license fee, as I do not watch the BBC or any live broadcasts or utilise the BBC Iplayer. As long as you don’t do any of those things you do not have to pay the license fee. I stopped paying 5 years ago and I get threatening letters from them but they are meaningless as long as I am not watching the BBC products, or as rightly said above I do not allow anyone in to check (I don’t even have a cable box connected to my telly and am not signed up to the Iplayer so I just ignore the letters) The first year I went online and informed them properly and my reasons (the covering up and therefore support of child predators and blatant bias towards the left) but they then expect you to “opt out” every year and send the threatening letters in the hope people will pay. One of the sneakiest things they do is warn you that they will be deleting your Iplayer account for lack of use, just log in to make sure it isn’t deleted, at which point you are liable for the license fee!
BBC used to be respected but certainly in England they are seen now as a propaganda channel - same as any other state tv channel
The fact that anybody still watches TV is absolutely beyond me. The rest of my family basically spends all their free time staring at a TV screen, and yet all they do is complain about how there is nothing to watch. 🤡
Yes. even if you don't watch the BBC.
