No, you'd be instantly set up for execution probably. You can't threaten any candidates they want, even as a joke. But they can sure actually attempt assassinations of anyone they don't, and receive no penalty.

There are plenty of instances of people who commit assaults or rapes or threatening people being released from jail. This isn't unique to this instance. According to the state, the individual is innocent until proven guilty, even if they committed the crime in front of cameras and a huge crowd of people.
There's all sorts of stories of women being abused and attacked by their partner, cops finally arrest them, then the guy gets out on bond to then go home and kill the woman.
