At the Dawn of WWIII, the United States that has been invaded by the Soviet Union and its Cuban and Nicaraguan allies. A group of American high school students who resist the occupation with guerrilla warfare, naming themselves the "Wolverines", after their high school mascot.
Starring a pre-Roadhouse Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen before the hookers, and C. Thomas Howell as "not Ponyboy".
Also new comer Darren Dalton, with whom I went to high school. He played the role of the mayor's son who was also the "rat" among the group. As the film was shot on location not far from where we lived, I also landed a minor role as a "citizen" confined within the fence that was erected around the town square. As a teenager at the time, I was clueless as to the implications of this movie but I was certain that the Soviet Union was the enemy.
Bare with me. Beginning of movie I Sept. I just put it on. Scoreboard 13 to 21 drop, pulled up drop 1321. Hmmm a delta drop from today pulls up! I know, I'm not good at this. And I need to watch the rest of the movie. Only few minutes in. Very good sir.
I saw the movie when it came out. Chilling to watch in thr waning days of the Cold War that we had lived with at the time. I have always wondered at the opening scene if such a force in real life would have opened fire on what was obviously a group of students watching from a classroom window.
Still love this even if it now strikes me as a bit too military -industrial complex. There's a new version of the same name and also an Aussie version called 'tomorrow when the war began'
Great movie, been a while since i have watched it. To think now the Russians are based and its commies inside our own countries that is what we have to fight.
I always remember laughing that after it was on the TV late night sometime in the 90s someone spray painted "wolverines" on the side of the small police station we had down the road.
The Russians aren't based.... They still defend the Soviet Union and all it's bad actions. Also, their government kisses the ass of muslims. Furthermore, their allies are all the commie countries left in Earth like North Korea, China, Venezuela, Cuba etc.
And the director/screenwriter , John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Dirty Harry, Conan the Barbarian) has an awesome daughter, Amanda Milius...who directed The Plot Against the President—excellent...lots of Devin Nunes and Kash Patel in that movie...
And she worked in Trump’s administration and is on WarRoom w steve Bannon every once in a while.
Nobody is responding. But that's OK. I'll I'll a need, or over reaching. So, on the radio that, the old guy gives them, say the chair is against the wall, John has a long beard. Well c before d. And Durham has a long beard. Ok. Im reaching. Thank you for listening.
That day will come when President Trump will announce that he will run or he
will announce that he is endorsing someone else to run for President in 2024....
No other option exists at this point.
....Thank you to everyone who attended the Rally last night. It was a two-hour speech, and the only disappointment was that they were screaming, “Please, please, go longer.” They love our Country, and I love them!

Big Rally in Pennsylvania today. Get there early! Thank you to Newsmax, and others, for doing such a great job of T.V. coverage. The Ratings are incredible!

It apoears that a good amount of people have been watching that video recently. Literally just watched the recent Elvis movie yesterday. Then link to the HI concert that embarrassingly I never heard about until watching the movie, is posted here. Coincidence!
"It's such a deep theme in the universe, duality – man woman, black white, ebony ivory, high low, right wrong, up down, hello goodbye – that it was a very easy song to write." McCartney also said that, in "Hello, Goodbye", he was promoting "the more positive side of the duality".

The theme of this movie and how it applies to Anon Theatre should be self explanatory.

Ty, classic

It was clearly to scare teenagers watching the film.
However, it could be used as a scare tactic in a real life situation also. I don't put it past anyone.
I see it as morally symbolic....
Communist mindset dropping on the youth's mindset though the education system.
Is the movie actually good?
I enjoyed it. It's typical war action.
When they grab supplies at the store listen in the background one guy yells out " grab some toilet paper I ain't using no leaves". 😁. 8min 40sec. mark
And definitely don't use poison ivy leaves :)
One of thee best WWIII/apocalyptic and U.S. patriotic 80s movies hands down!
Amd for those who have finished the movie, here are some highlights from the Rifftrax version:

The new red dawn sucked. The one with josh peck in it right? Unoriginal and halfassed used tropes from the first movie.
They changed the villains from China to North Korea apparently.

Been years since I've seen this! Thank you
This movie is the sole reason I have an AK and plate vest and two weeks worth of food under my bed.
I think we should all warch it again a few times as a refresher course in courage against all odds.
I managed to scoop Premier Tickets from the Radio Station, and saw the very first showing, in the DFW area. Great 80's movie

Nice! TPATP was an early Anon Theatre
I love this post! Always great recommendations for new stuff and stuff I’ve not seen in years. Watching this now and scary as all get out...
This is my favorite movie right behind my all-time top, Return of the Jedi!

The lead up to that announcement will be the equivalent of Betty Page doing a strip tease to Bolero.
