I’m pretty sure I got a bad case of stones. I became so nauseous that I’ve had cold chills, headache, trouble breathing. I feel it in my side when I stretch or take deep breaths. I’m still urinating it’s a bit dark but not bloody. I hate feeling like this. It’s so miserable.
If you know any home remedies please share. I don’t have health insurance so the ER or home care are my only options. Walmart across the street.
Apple cidar/lemon juice/olive oil
alt: Alkali citrates (potassium citrate) or sodium bicarbonate are widely used to increase urine pH and help dissolve uric acid or cystine stones.
No salt: 6-8 glasses of water/day.
Sorry about your distress.
I have not looked into that.
But a quick search gave me this paper, which claims that kidney stones can be caused by both acidic and alkaline urine -- each causes a different type of stone.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21170875/
If true, it means there is no way to know if changing the Ph level of the urnine one way or the other would help, unless it is known which type of stones they are.
Even then, is there any research to show that eating a particular type of food causes a direct change of the urine Ph level, which causes destruction of the stones in the human body, as opposed to simply causing such a thing to happen in a laboratory test tube? I don't know the answer to that, but knowning it might be helpful.
Treatment as to type of stone. Correct.
Often 'prevention' is prescribed as 'correction' when it isn't.
Dissolution might take longer than you'd want or need.
But the issue is with alkaline/acidic levels in any case.
Good luck my fren.
Stop drinking the sugary fizzy poison that is a hallmark of American cuisine.
Try cranberry juice or tablets, lots of water, really push fluids. If you have pain, there is likely infection which you will need antibiotics. Take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen for pain or naproxen and see if it lets up some. I literally just went through this. My kidneys hate me. Soda is a pretty good thing to avoid if you have kidney issues. Best of luck I hope you feel better soon.
Corn silk. Get it as a tincture- with alcohol. I highly recommend: HerbEra Organic Corn Silk - alcohol. It will break up the stones VERY fast.
You have most likely been eating and drinking food that is not good for you, and eating/drinking too frequently (multiple times per day).
That is usually the cause of most illness.
I would heal through fasting.
I would stop eating for the next 3 days and see if there is any improvement.
Drinking water (distilled is best) is ok, but nothing else. Dry fasting (no water, either) would be ideal, at least for most of the fast.
The body needs to rest so it can recover from the damage.
I do intermittent fasting everyday (19/5) plus 3 days fast once a month. Also one or two 10 days fast a year. From experience and literature, the notion that distilled water is good for you under any circumstances is ill advised: Our body needs its electrolytes, namely and mostly sodium, magnesium, and potassium, especially during a fast. I urge anyone contemplating fasting to research the subject in depth beforehand. Do not take my word for it. Always verify.
Seconding the comment about distilled - it will basically dilute your electrolyte minerals which will be very important to your body during a fast.
I disagree.
This argument is based on a half-truth, that in reality is not true.
What people don't understand is that there are two types of minerals: organic and inorganic.
The type of minerals in mineral water and similar is inorganic.
The human body cannot utilize inorganic minerals. In effect, it is a toxin within our bodies.
We get organic minerals, which our bodies can utilize, from animal foods we eat (and drink, if raw/natural, and not boiled/pasteurized).
Distilled water is pure H2O. It is produced by:
Eat plenty of animal foods and you will get plenty of organic minerals. While fasting, your body has stored sufficient amounts that taking substitues in water is unnecessary, and I would say is not helpful.
You don't even need to drink water for most of the fast. Dry fasting (no food, no drink, no water at all) causes the body's fat cells to break down so the body can get at the stored water inside those cells.
That water is the healthiest we can have, since the body created it during fat storage. It is deuterium-depleated water which, again, is pure H2O. The stuff coming from the tap, and most bottled water, has deuterium in it, which means it is not pure H2O. It is better understood to be D2O, which is one of the reasons tap water is not healthy.
Anyway, plants function on inorganic minerals that they get from dissolving rock (microorganisms dissolve the rock in the soil and bring it to the roots of the plant, and the plant, in turn, feeds the microoranisms). The minerals we get from plants and mineral water are not the minerals that our body needs.
I only drink distilled water -- and not much, at that -- and I eat lots of animals foods. No problems with "lack of electrolytes" when I am fasting.
So, everyone do their own research on these matters and arrive at your own conclusion.
Just be careful, and keep everything in context. There are articles out there on the interwebs that claim that drinking distilled water will "flush out minerals from your body."
Yes -- INORGANIC minerals that your body is TRYING TO GET RID OF because they are a toxin in the body.
But it does not flush out organic minerals, which your body uses for various bodily functions.
Chanca Piedra the “stone breaker”!
Yes - one should research this one. And folks with history of stones should use as maintenance. I use a liquid one in a dropper, but some use a tea.
Yes. Chanca Piedra. Worked like a charm for me. Also helps with maintenance. Give it a try. I used 1600mg tablets.
Yes!
I just started using it.
It's great!
I add the extract to water that has MSM in it. Really helps to cleanse.
Works not just on stones (I guess, as I've never been diagnosed with them), but helps the skin, too, as little bits of minerals that would normally deposit in skin and make it stiff, get flushed out instead.
I read it helps will gallbladder problems as well.
I'm using it because I'm into general cleansing.
Borax and antioxidants. "Daily Boron" is Sodium Borate, LD50 (fatal dose in rats) of 6,000 mg/kg, Table Salt LD50 is 3,000 mg/kg
Here's a record of a guy with kidney stones the size of large grapes that were almost completely gone in a few weeks. Boron is excellent at helping your body properly distribute calcium.

Vitamin D is excellent as well- must take with food as it is a fat-soluble vitamin- as are Vitamins E, A, and K. Animal proteins are excellent for your health.
In the meantime, fasting is great as many people are mentioning.
drink lots and lots of water.
I use AZO over the counter also
Wow, sorry to hear that. I know someone who used to get Kidney stones but they would go into the hospital and undergo an ultrasound procedure to break up the stones to make them easier to pass. No matter what, you’ll eventually have to pass them. Many medical professionals suggest urinating into a fine mesh screen to try and catch the stone so it can be analyzed but if don’t have insurance that’s kinda a moot point.
sounds more like a kidney infection than a stone.
thanks for the kidney stone remedy.

My husband used ACV with mother mixed with apple cider sipped through straw and it stopped a gall bladder attack.
Ocean Spray cranberry juice not the generic crap. Lot's of plain water, nothing sugary or carbonated. You might also have a UTI. If it gets worse go to the ER. Have you had kidney stones in the past?
No I don’t think I’ve ever had them. It’s really my first time but I think I can tell they’ve been on their way because I’ve been feeling discomfort in bed on my sides for some time. 27male
Don’t dismiss a urinary tract infection. It can be easily confirmed yes or no with a urine sample at ER. Chills and sweating can often be bacterial. If you’re having any discharge that’s also a sign. If you start running a fever or it’s not better by Wed., go to ER. Drink plenty of water and Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice in the meantime.
Vitamin C and probiotics got me through it during the lock down. And lots and lots of water to help flush them out.
It sounds like infection, and the only cure I found works is lavender oil rubbed on the sore spots, as well as lavender flower tea, with a little cream added.
Fasting
If the stone is too large to pass, you could end up with sepsis and die without treatment. Check your temp for fever and check blood pressure because if your blood pressure drops that might mean you have a serious infection and will need antibiotics. If I were you, I'd go to ER if this causes fever that won't go away. Otherwise drink tons of water and pee a lot and hopefully it'll come out. It sucks you don't have insurance but if this gets serious then you will need medical intervention.
Trust me on this. Most of the posts in this thread are well-intentioned, but won't help you if the diagnosis is truly kidney stones. I know, because I have had hundreds, until I learned how to manage them. Since I learned the secret, I have had very few.
You need potassium citrate, because it dissolves the stones. Before I started drinking potassium citrate, my stones were a dark, rust color, and often had sharp and pointed crystal edges. Following the potassium citrate, they turned orange in color, and were smoother. It took a few weeks to move them out of my kidneys, and now they grow at a much slower rate, most frequently just particles of sand that are easy to pass. The potassium citrate prevents the growth of the calcium crystals.
The most palatable form of potassium citrate can be found in 7Up regular or diet. I think the regular has a slightly higher concentration. If you are in dire need, as you are now, then get one of the lemonade forms of Crystal Lite. (Read the labels -- not all Crystal Lite has this as an ingredient.) That has a much higher concentration of potassium citrate, although, I can't stomach the stuff long-term.
For maintenance, drink an 8-ounce glass of 7Up daily. If you are in the dire need category, try to drink the entire half-gallon quantity of the Crystal Lite mix each day. It will work! I know!
You sound like you're "managing symptoms" rather than curing or preventing, though.
HFCS and derivatives in that soda plus whatever other processed food you're eating will continue to build toxin levels in your body.
If you're a chronic kidney stone patient, there is no cure. Doctors have no explanation, and the best you can do is manage it. I haven't had a kidney stone in over a year...knock on wood. Before, I was having them weekly, sometimes three or four in a week.
I will take whatever is "bad" in a single glass of 7Up, vs a bad kidney stone -- no question.
I feel for you. My dad had them all the time, long ago. He went on a cleanse, cut all sugars, this was before we knew about HFCS and GMO, and nearly all grains. Chicken, rice or potato and salads, fruits, lots of water. He gradually brought back some junk food he liked but kept it to a minimum. And hardly had sodas again. Never another stone.
Cranberry juice
Heating pad and tens massager can help with pain management above that of typical Aleve. Drink lemonade or cranberry juice and slowly walk. Just keeping walking and peeing and drinking lemonade.
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Not sure of any sure fire way to stop the pain now, but if you are having these you are either eating and drinking too much junk food, smoking, or taking prescription medication like oxy or vicatin. You should stop all of that, drink as much water as you can and stop drinking anything else. Eat right, no more fast food. You will never have kidney stones again.
I wouldn't necessarily say that instant diet conversion means no more stones; the body has to divest itself of the accumulated toxins, so sometimes a stronger detox regimen is needed, else the fallback is stones.
I use lemon essential oil. NOW is a good brand and it will help dissolve gall bladder or kidney stones. I put a drop under my tongue and drink a cup of water. There are many other oils but this works pretty well.

I concur that cranberry juice or capsules is good for kidney/uti issues.
I also have very good luck using homeopathics for kidney issues/uti's. They are very easy to use and will be based on the symptom picture. There are blends you can purchase or singles you can get to keep on hand. It's hard if you don't know how to use different modalities but you can research anything online and how to use it.

My mom has had horrible kidney stones several times.
She’s used Chance Piedra tincture and swears by a home remedy where you fast and only eat like half a lb. of steamed asparagus and drink like a gallon of Diet Coke (the phosphoric acid in the Diet Coke breaks them up I think).
I don’t recall the exact amounts or for how many hours. You may have to figure that one out with a search.
