In 2022 we had to deal with power outages(Load shedding it's called)..... We were without power for 147 days....that's a total of 3528 hrs...π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬... believe it or not it's actually getting worse.....At the moment we don't have power for between 9 and 12 hrs a day....EVERYDAY!!... Like I've said before Never take for granted where you live.... Other than that everything is just dandy.... Stay well Frens...

WTF?!?! That is crazy. Good to hear this from someone on the ground bc ZERO media outlets have reported this. That is an insane amount of outage time. How are ppl/workers able to get anything done???
Exactly.... Everyone who can afford it have generators or/and invertor packs....problem with battery invertors is that sometimes there's not enough time in-between to recharge......100's of businesses have had to close down.....it's a fucking nightmare....
People dont realize that it affects Cellphone towers, water distribution and lots more.....traffic lights are always out so lots more accidents... What To do hey...?!
Damn, I'm sorry you have to deal with that Purkiss.
Thanks but what can we do....the hand we got dealt with....for now...

What people used to do? Papers and phone calls. Regular routine day. No more computers or cell phones. Reading the whole documents and mail things etc. No emails.
I was there in 2008 when they cancelled the Scorpion police squad. They were set up to investigate corruption but got too close to those in power so were disbanded.
They had an 80% conviction rate, the ordinary cops had a 2% conviction rate.
1000% spot on....The Scorpions were ex- Police and military(White)....And started coming too close to ALL of them....if they weren't disbanded we would be in a completely different situation right now....
I want you to know I am not anti Black but if the white minority had not built South Africa into the nation it is--or was-- the people there would still be living in mud huts and eating each other. Geez, when is common sense going to take back control?
Never a truer word spoken...However, if you try to mention that anywhere you are shot down because as far as the Libs around the world and our blacks are concerned we shouldn't have been here in the first place....We "STOLE" the land from them....Go figure
Just to be clear I'm also not anti-black but unfortunately, the blacks here are Nothing like the blacks in America or Europe or even Asia....They have a completely different mindset...They are still very much tribalistic and it shows...We are 2 Very different cultures...VERY different...
Praying for you and all those in SA. May God protect you and your people during this time of unbelievable hatred going on down there. It is nowhere in the news here.
Thank you...Much appreciated..ππ» Yeah, you won't find anything in the Media...π
I have only visited Jo'burg and Pretoria and it seems that the white man was there before the black man, especially in Jo'burg.
There was nothing there when the white men arrived, just rock and scrub, an empty land devoid of people.
I was told that the animals there in those days, especially the migrating animals were so numerous that a herd of Impala or Springbok took a week to pass a fixed spot.
I visited Johannesburg on several short occasions for work during the 1980s, when the "apartheid" racial segregation was still a thing. A nice country but the ruling whites had ruined it. It was not enough that they were on top and very rich they had to act like tyrants and make sure everyone knew who was boss and get their asses kissed.
I expected that the black people (I am white) would give me hell but they were actually quite nice people. Unless maybe just putting on a nice face so I would tip them but I don't think so. My white ex-pat colleagues on the other hand, some of them were OK, but most of them beer-swilling low-IQ unfortunates.
From what I see now the black people (tribalistic and different mindset as purkiss80 says) have swung the other way and now they want to smash everything to show their power. It's wrong but if you whip a dog it's gonna bite you.
A real shame because I liked the place (even though I stayed in Hillbrow which is like Baltimore.)
Hmmm? Sounds like what we are seeing in major US cities where law and order have broken down. Coincidence?
Hey hey hey...they said Africa wasnβt a shithole...did they lie??
I went to SA during the water shortage when they were limiting everyoneβs usage. Felt like a NWO sandbox when I was there.
I takes a special human to be awake in a situation like that...stay strong over there hopefully we bail you out soon!
Thank you...I appreciate the support...ππ»
I wish we would take jn SA immigrants like we do Mexican ones
Nah, they're the wrong shade laddie, wont work in the PLAN!

This will be the reality here in the states in a few years. I live in a formally red state, now blue. I have seen the forecasts for the next few years for my company in this state. We will be 2000 MW in the hole within 5 years. The transmission lines aren't large enough to bring that amount of power from out of state, plus every other state will be having the same issues. On top of that we will be retiring "aka shutting down permanently" nearly 1000mw of older units in my company alone. Upper management is scrambling to setup dozens of simple cycle units (40mw each) to try and compensate for the shortfall. Last i heard, they haven't even made the purchase yet. My memory is a bit foggy, but they are calling these gas units supplemental renewable units.
These rolling blackouts will be easier to manage due to smart meters. Kinda like they knew what was in store.
ESKOM , which is the sole Energy supplier owned by the state needs approx 6000MW at the moment to keep the lights on ... They have +-60000MW capacity of which +- 14000MW is offline due to planned maintenance...+-17000MW is offline due to breakdowns....That leaves half of the Capacity that we have available...Not forgetting that the Cable thieves come out during these planned power outages(Loadshedding...They have a timetable of where and when the power will be turned off!) to steal what they can making the situation even worse...

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ESKOM+generating+capacity&atb=v314-1&ia=web
Your point on offline due to breakdowns is important. Continued neglect ("managed decline" according to my VP) , will result in much more offline than need be. These facilities are quite literally falling apart around us. Its gotten much worse in my time here.
Do they at least keep emergency services powered?
No ..π€¬
So hospitals are cut off during those blackouts?
Yip....They have to run off their own Generators....
That is insane.
But hey, it's all okay! We got rid of that horrible Racist regime, after all. A little power shortage is a small price to pay for Feeling Good about destroying White Supremacy, right?
Right?
Right...Don't forget High unemployment(32.9%) and their own people who live under the poverty line...and oh yes...white man bad...
Purky how did you end up in SA? Weβre you born there?
Yes ..
Doesn't look good my fren.. a decade?! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-11-28/south-africa-may-face-a-decade-of-blackouts-without-gas-fired-power-study-finds?leadSource=uverify%20wall
Not Good at all.....SA used to supply the rest of Africa with Power back under white rule(Apartheid)....
The TV made "apartheid" sound like such a bad thing.
π
At least you got rid of the whites in charge of building and running everything though.
True....Except we STILL get blamed for Everything... There are 'forces' here(In and out of Government) who are determined to Divide because if "Racism" wasn't brought up every fucking Day(Newspapers, tv, etc) I think we could quite peacefully live together...But 'They' are always stoking the racial fire here, always because otherwise, 'they' have nothing to offer the population....
There can be no peaceful coexistence.
Sounds just like here. Now SF is talking about giving reparations to SF blacks to the tune of 5 million a person. Absolute insanity.
Never give up your gas stoves! Stock up on butane canisters and keep a camp stove in the closet jic. I gave one to all my siblings when Texas power went down, bc that was literally the only way we could eat hot food was our gas stove. And ours wasnt even the worst. Rolling blackouts for a few hours at a time. Cant imagine how it is to live like that like the OP. But thankful for the experience. You learn what kind of person you are and what kind of person you need to be through these things. A blessing in disguise.
I have several large propane tanks just in case. They will come for the gas appliances if they get their way. Also have solar and gas generators.
ππ
Lol. Load shedding..as in throttling usage...rationing.
Fancy words for what it is.
ππ...Often...Fucking really pisses me off...π
Thanks...π
God bless you fren. I can't imagine how that would work here. It'd be bad. Thank you for the reminder.I am so appreciative to be born and raised here.πΊπ²

Insert Chuck Mangione joke here.
π...Nah...that was during Covid....Some shitpaper is Not going to help me get the truth out on the internet I'm afraid...
I'm curious as to the cause(s). Zambia has had recurrent problems with load shedding (currently 12 hrs/day), mainly due to overuse of the Kariba Dam, which is jointly owned with Zimbabwe. One problem is that the Kariba power is also being sold to other nations for money (graft), even though the citizenry needs it desperately and should have first claim. There is also a problem sharing it with Zimbabwe, which is in worse economic shape than Zambia. Not only does this put a damper on the economy (idled industry), it starves business generally through the absence of internet service. Individual homes have had to install solar cells and storage batteries to eke out even a few hundred watts of replacement power. (Not that I am a solar cell advocate, but beggars are seldom choosers.)
Simple...The ANC(Governing Party) were handed over a perfectly working Country back in 1994...Everything worked....In 2002 'they' were warned that we had to start building new Power stations ....In 2007 were warned again ....Did fuck all except steal from the state coffers to the extent that they are basically bankrupt to this day...Plus the fact NO maintenance......'They" have destroyed Every working institution that we had....Dumbass MF'rs....
I'm not surprised, but I didn't want to assume without confirmation. Zimbabwe had Robert Mugabe and Zambia had his political apprentice Edgar Lungu. The U.S. might sport an identical timeline...
Do you have a generator?
At work, we have a 10Kva Diesel Generator plus 2 petrol Compressors to help through the day...At home just gas for cooking and Battery invertors for Lights, TV, fridge and PC...Still not enough to keep me from getting pissed off everyday with Traffic though...Fucking Nightmare in the Cities and suburbs...
Sorry to hear FREN. Sorry to hear.
What can I say but we soldier on and deal with what we have and do what can be done...π
Are they trying to sell electric vehicles there?
ππππππ..No...But the Government did come up with a plan to help in the rural areas....They provided Donkey Carts(Without the donkeys though)...Lol.....Didn't work...They either broke apart within days or the owners sold them for cash to some other fools....
That's unbelievable. Do doubt the government paid for the carts and people received kickbacks.
Donkeys...taste like chicken??
My sister lives in val de vie and she and her husband have a 1k gallon diesel generator along with a manmade pond that is fed by a nearby river.
When they built the house there wasnt the power outages like today, but their reasoning was the droughts.
They have 100 olive trees, 8k feet of roses and a vineyard. They wanted a guarantee they could keep them watered.
When power goes out, it takes about 1 second for the power to come back on via generator, but can you imagine the bill when it is time to fill that generator back up with diesel.
Damn
Iβm heading out there later this year. Is this happening in the Cape or up in Joβburgh / Durban? Are you still in drought w/ water rationing? The ANC have a lot to answer for IMO.
Cape Town is run by the opposition so things work a lot better....
