My pastor said last year that the “powers that be” are already trying to claim the Bible as “hate speech”. One elderly women exclaimed, ”WHAAAT” and he replied, “yep, people don’t like what it says in regards to their sins and are trying to silence Christians.”
That's selective hyperbole. Anything can be labeled hate speech now, since any critical / against-the-current-cultural-tastes speech is now equated with (psychological) violence. I think pastors who talk like what your pastor is saying need to be more measured and just stick with explaining the Word of God instead of interpreting current events for the congregation. Its apparently quite tempting when a lot of people listen to you as a guide, to become just like the political pundits on TV (left or right) who get high ratings by keeping their audience in perpetual states of unresolved stress and anxiety.
Thousands of non-mainstream bible believing churches across the land are preaching the whole counsel of God without any threat of silencing, including my entire conservative Presbytrian denomination and similar denominations. Same thing with synagogues and the Torah.
Just because its fashionable to unfairly try to label bible preaching as "hate speech" doesn't change the real world legal protections of the Bill of Rights.
This is exactly why the United Methodist Church is about to be ripped apart into several factions....they've been arguging about whether to "reconcile with" or reject the demands of the militant alphabet crowd for several years now.
There is no about to be it already has. Conservatives won the vote a couple of years ago not to have Gay weddings and Woke clergy but it was ignored by the "leadership". Instead the Woke Mob controlled the Denomination from the top. Those that didn't agree had no choice but to leave. In order to leave you had to buy back your facilities and pay two years of the money that you would normally have given to the parent organization plus pay your share of any retirement of previous preachers. In the 60's when the "older churches" joined the greater denomination they sold their property to the individual conferences one dollar. After that if you built another building you had to receive permission to build it from the conference and they owned it having put zero dollars into it. The largest UMC church in Georgia got out but had to paid 13.1 MILLION Dollars to get out.
Well, there it is. I'd read about this split a couple of years ago, but hadn't kept up on the details. How absolutely disgusting. Since the African continent contains so many more conservative UM churches...I'm surprised they haven't flexed their power and/or influence in this mess.
Primary reason I'm in the dark? I was raised UM, attended and volunteered at many UM churches as an adult....but my wife and I left the denomination (and really, organized religion in general) five years ago, given the obviously woke direction the UMC was taking. We don't regret that move at all...but I desperately miss being part of a faith community.
I refuse to support the UMC ever again in my lifetime.
The African Churched helped win that vote from about two years ago. It did not do any good. Many of the churches are going to the new Global Methodist and I think the African ones are too. But the Global Methodist also want control over property and my small rural church does not want to go down that road again after having to write a check much much larger than the dollar bill they were given for their property in the 60's.
I cannot blame you -- and I'm so sorry you and your church are victims of this unnecessary schism. I didn't mention it earlier, but I was "recruited" by several clergy members in a UMC church where I volunteered throughout the 1990s to attend a UM seminary to be ordained as a pastor. I visited seminary several times and THIS CLOSE to attending. In retrospect...and I'm really sad to admit this out loud...I'm grateful that I did not go through that process. This split is heartbreaking, on so many levels, to so many people. Having said that, I KNOW there are Godly and effective UMC pastors that are still out there...
Why is this allowed? It is clear the $1 was a token, it seems a court would rule that only a token was required to leave. Double their money and send them $2. 😅Plus, who paid for any repairs or renovations? Local or organization? Who changed the doctrine, so who actually left? A good legal team should be able to punch a lot of holes in this money grab.
At the moment, they seem focused on Catholics but the recent revival happening in Kentucky may get them to widen their investigations. Grass roots Christianity is definitely more threatening, common folk throwing their arms in the air and shouting "Amen", versus well dressed Catholics muttering a dead language.
I sincerely hope all seek Jesus and follow his teachings. Jesus is the only way. If your church isn’t preaching and teaching God’s word then protest, change, or leaving it is needed. Regardless of denomination or “religion”
Of course, that is up to each of us which faith to follow, but certainly no government entity at all should be passing judgement on what faiths are "good" and which are "bad". Only when another person's natural rights are violated should a government entity maybe get involved. This does not include a perceived "right" to not be offended or take an unborn baby's life.
My comment was an entirely sarcastic poke at the F.B.I... I have total respect for Catholics and their beliefs as well as for all religions. And Latin cannot be changed or subverted because it is a "dead" language and not a "common" tongue like English that is constantly changing.
I'm not a Christian (not an atheist either) but this is wrong. You can't force people away from their faith. That's tyranny and certainly isn't freedom of religion which is one of the major tenets of America.
Sounds like The Book of Revelations and the end of days on the horizon... Remember; the Anti-Christ walks amongst us...It's only a matter of time before he/she is revealed...Is it Nikki Haley?
My Mom, who can be nuttier than squirrel poop, used to tell me 10 years ago that Obama is the antichrist. She kept stating that one day she would be proven right.
Nero was the antichrist. Christ fulfilled Matthew 20ff and these events occurred during the lifetimes of his living disciples. Christ destroyed the Temple in AD 70 and the horrors surrounding that are well documented in Josephus'works. Dispensationalism and the pretrib rapture are not historic Christianity. For a few sources to research more, try End Times Madness by Gary DeMar, or Doug Wilson's book When the Man Comes Around. Also listen to James White from Apologia church in AZ.
That being said, Satan/lucifer always follows the same basic plan and there will be countless antichrists, many attempts to deceive all humanity, etc so many of today's events mirror what has already been accomplished, and ultimately Christ does win and establish an eternal kingdom without sin and death
Who says "historic Christianity" is right? And what is "historic Christianity." All we have is the Bible to inform us. According to "historic Christianity" Christians are all going to heaven. But the Bible doesn't end with Christians going to heaven. It ends with New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God (Rev. 20:2). And the city is prepared as a bride. Who is the groom? Rev. 19:7 ID's the groom as the Lamb. So, who is the bride? This mystery is great, but I speak in regard to Christ and the church (Eph. 5:27,32).
Really wish they stop confusing Catholics with Christians. There a clear doctrinal differences. They cannot be equated to one another. Catholics are not Christians.
Christians only follow and pray to Jesus bro. Mary and the saints have no elevated status and should not be prayed to or thought of being able to intercede on our behalf. Also, Jesus is our only high priest. We commune and repent only to Him. No earthly priest or any other man can or should intercede for your repentance or salvation. It goes deeper than that but those core beliefs alone are big enough differences to separate Christianity from Catholicism.

He was specifically referring to those who choose to live sexuality sinful lifestyles and don’t like being called out on it.
Homosexuals are already trying to silence those who are in disagreement with their life choices.
Btw, the Presbyterian church I used to clean for openly supported homosexuality and wanted to practice “gay marriage” there.
You really love acting superior to the Christians you created in your mind...
Any church that allowed themselves to shutdown with little resistance is little threat to the DS.
Same with any church that does not strongly oppose abortion and LGBT agenda.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution article on Mt. Bethel UMC church leaving.
Babylon the Great in Revelation 17 is the "Mother of harlots." A mother has offspring.
At the moment, they seem focused on Catholics but the recent revival happening in Kentucky may get them to widen their investigations. I sincerely hope all leave the Catholic church and instead go to a protestant church.

The Catholic Church may not be what you think it is.
Latin is powerful in the sense that it cannot be changed or subverted. It is an anchor into the churches past.

This right here.
Honestly, I hope they do try to criminalize Christianity. It would do great things for Christ's church.
Problem => Reaction => Solution
Persecution of Christians => Demands: All religions equal => Penalties for suppressing religions (including … Satanists)
Start with the LDS dry humpers on the FBI and other agencies
Yeah, throw some scientologists in the mix.😬
Tell them to take it up with God, and we will do as he says, to us.
It's not just the CCP that Frank "works" with...
Well, we know where they call home. They say “HQ”. We say hide out.
Cmon really?!?
We are supposed to believe this is by chance?!?
FBI whistle-blower with the name SERAPHIN talking about Christianity
Really wish they stop confusing Catholics with Christians. There a clear doctrinal differences. They cannot be equated to one another. Catholics are not Christians.
Every protestant faith has doctrinal differences. Some very large. By your logic, noone is Christian.
Btw, Catholics are Christians. I am Lutheran, which is quite similar to Catholicism, sucks to learn I am not a Christian.
smh That comment is doing the enemies work for him.
Bro im not even religious and I know that catholicism is a subset of christianity.
