This, all fake numbers. Directv barely has 13 million subscribers, so that would mean every single subscriber in addition to all other cable subscribers would have had to tune in. Complete and utter bullshit. I'm willing to bet the actual number is 1.6 million and the Oscars will correct that number in the future on a Friday night so no one notices.

For context, 10 years ago they had an audience of 44 million and I’d have to listen to my girlfriend (now wife) go on and on about it. This year I don’t even think she knew it was on… and we haven’t seen any of the movies. Personally, this is a big win.

Yes, that and the quality is rock bottom. It’s either a lame sequel, a super hero movie (also sequels), some artsy LBGTP movie, or a foreign language drama.
My local theatres have started dusting off old movies to reshow (Wayne’s World is playing this weekend). They must be hurting.
