Never ever ask for an exemption. If you ask you are giving them permission to say "No".
Declare an exemption. If they ask how you are exempt you say for religious reasons. If they ask what your religion is you tell them you choose to not disclose that for fear of persecution. Any further questioning is a violation of your unalienable rights. The Constitution does not give you these rights but it points out that you already have these rights and the Constitution is there to ensure that your rights are not infringed on by anybody in a position of assumed authority.
Let them know that if they choose to violate your God-given rights then their agency will be sued but they will also be sued on an personal basis. If they say they are just doing their job remind them that receiving a pay check doesn't give them the right to infringe on your rights.

I'm in the same boat. My plan is to refuse the vaccine and then apply for a waiver with USCIS for religious or moral reasons.
That's the only current legal way to do it that I know of. Otherwise try and stall for time? The head of the CDC is stepping down on June 30th, and the longer things go and the more obvious is it that the jab is poison, the more likely it will be that the requirement goes away.

My office serves as a civil surgeon for these immigrants. We do medical paperwork/ vaccines, etc. I am sooo frustrated at the Covid requirements. Until a month or so ago, the requirement was vaccine and booster unless was one-shot Covid vaccine. Now everyone is required to get bivalent no matter what they’d had already. I have had a few who were going to try the waiver. One pt said that his lawyer told him not to bother- no waivers were being granted. I would also wait it out. I’m an RN and no way would I get the Covid jab
Up until May 11th the language said that not-getting the vaxx would make you inadmissible. That language is gone now, but I doubt it'll change much.
under no circumstances should getting vaxxed be chosen. If your friend does it, their life may be very short or their illnesses a lifelong burden for their loved ones.
I understand that two years remain of demands on people having to do with the poison jab. Tell your friend to postpone plans. Definitely wait for Trump to be back in the White House. As I am confident he will be. The alternatives are unacceptable for America's future.

This post shows us a new angle. People on the path to become real US Citizens have different requirements vs walking across our open boarders.
To become a Citizen they are illegally requiring vaccines. Co-Morbitiy is not out, yet you cannot legally mandate and EUA product.
These seem very related to our everyday talks here. I know they just removed the vaccine mandate for incoming travelers, I had no idea they still were mandating this for real citizenship. I bet that drives a lot of people to the board for the walk through experience also.

I find it 'odd' that only legal immigrants have a jab requirement. (Another way to spell 'odd' is 'infuriating'.)
It's almost like the gov't will only accept people who are willing to bend the knee --- or cross the border illegally.

It's about the money. Tourists won't visit from other countries if they're required to get the jab, so that requirement is gone. For legal applicants, they figure they can funnel more money into the CDC by forcing people who need to apply for citizenship to get the jab, because almost none them don't have the money or time to be able to sue.

It's worse than that, non-immigrants aren't required to get the jab to come and visit. It's ONLY for immigrants coming from a foreign country and for people updating for permanent resident as far as I know. It's and arbitrary and shitty rule with no justification.
Also, I think there are strategic reasons for making its own post. I hope that people lurk here to get visibility on this. I'm not sure who is the best point of contact to try and get in touch for this.

Does your friend know that becoming a US Citizen means they are putting themselves under the jurisdiction of the corporation known as the USA? It’s a foreign entity to the real lower case usa and is domiciled in the District of Columbia. Once becoming a citizen the citizen is claiming also to be domiciled in the District of Columbia and therefor under the corporation’s jurisdiction. They are better off claiming to be a foreign national. They will have more rights and not automatically be contracted into paying taxes and being subject to local laws.
