Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment

Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)

Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Oh wow. Even RT News is hinting that Michelle Obama is a tranny. https://gab.com/RT/posts/110732850093046420
Yeah, because she’s going to come out as a tranny. Finally, with some sad story that she didn’t feel safe to tell anybody the truth but now she feels like it’s OK because everybody’s embracing this LGBT movement. And then she’s gonna run for president. The left will go wild. They’ll love it!
Poor oppressed Michelle Obama! She’s black, she’s a woman, and she’s a tranny. She ticks all the boxes.

That giant Ukranian Antonov is back in the US again. Took off from Maine heading south.
I'm doing something wrong trying to use
. B bold . I italics
" works for me.
Anyone else have this issue? It's not a problem. I try not too put everything in " because it makes the post longer.
I presume you're using the buttons above the comment box.
For bold you have to put the text in between the four asterisks, in other words, two asterisks in front and two at the end:
** text goes here, remove spaces **
text goes here
For italics, same thing, in between the two stars, one in front, one at the end:
text goes here
Also, backquotes, one before one after, (or an indent), will get you a text box:
` text with backquotes, remove spaces `
text with backquotes
Hope this helped!
WOW
thanks for the instructions
Silly me I thought clicking on above buttons was one click
🤞🏼hope it worked.
Edit: Well at least I figured out green font. Will try again on another post
YW, for being technologically-challenged I don't do too bad! 😄
You're doing great!
Good luck!
BTW, two tildas ~~ before and after will get you the
strikethrough.Thanks fren. What's a tildes?
It's the squiggly line over letters in some languages, example - ñ.
There should be a symbol for it on your keyboard. On a regular keyboard, you might have to use the shift button on a key to get it.
I'm on a touch screen keyboard and I have a key to bring up a couple pages of symbols. Also, if I longpress on a letter, it gives me choices for other ways to write the letter, plus a symbol or two. These are my choices on the 'n' button: n, ň, ņ, ñ, and lastly, the backquote `.
Another thing I learned is that a few underscores _ or hyphens - will get you a line across to separate parts of your comment.
Not sure what you're using, but if you have any problems, I'll do my best to assist. Like I was telling another user, I wish this supported more of markdown code.
Oh yeah I know it but didn't know the name. Kīlauea I'll start practicing😀 I didn't try on this comment.
I practice a lot myself, toggling between the Preview/Edit Modes. I just have to remember to cancel the comment if I'm just playing around and don't want to post it, otherwise I have to go delete it! 😄
Yes it did. I never knew this. I always wondered how people did it.
Also to note, two tildas ~~ before and after gets you the
strikethrough.Thanks!
You're quite welcome!
Oh, and another thing I learned. A few underscores _ makes a line across to separate parts of your post.
A few hyphens - will do it as well.
I can't remember anything else I've learned so far. There's a lot I'd like to do, but haven't figured out how yet, or if it is even possible, that is. I wished it supported more of markdown.
This is my first summer of living in an extreme heat state and I gotta say this ain't for sissies! It going to be 114 degrees today. 😵💫
One of the reasons I'm here. Lower cost of living but, whoa, it comes with it own price tag.
Just has this thought... how to red pill leftists. Instead of focusing on current events show them footage of WTC 7 collapsing. That may convince them that there is a cabal destroying the country from within? That is how I red pilled my conservative friend.
God Bless ya, general chat and GAW in general.
Crazy times. Let God be your rock.

I've been thinking about those biolabs. As far as Ukraine goes, While it's regrettable that the Deep State deposed Viktor Yanukovych and installed crappy Nazis in the government and Petro Poroshenko began his war of genocide against the ethnic Russians, I'm fine with having Russia take out the Nazi regime in Ukraine. The only unfortunate part is that those Ukrainian Su-27 Flanker jets with their beautiful blue digital camouflage schemes have probably all been destroyed by now.
What I am NOT cool with is the idea of Taiwan being attacked. I've never been there, but it's the one country I really want to visit. I haven't seen my family in Arizona in over 11 years. While I miss them, I don't miss America and I can no longer recognize my own culture anymore. Sorry if that offends the prevalent "USA #1" sentiments on here, but so far I'm glad I'm not there and I've had plenty of people tell me that I'm lucky I don't have to endure the pronoun/rainbow puke extravaganza there. I just don't want to go to America.
A lovely coworker will visit Taiwan in August and visit Jiufen. She's a single woman, and very beautiful. She has been planning her trip to Taiwan for a while. I'm so jealous and I've been wanting to go there for a number of years, just walking along the red lantern-strewn streets with a Tsingtao beer in one hand and a camera in the other. (If you've ever seen Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" movie, Jiufen is the model of the ghost village where Chihiro's parents are turned into pigs.) And in April I had reached out to a Taiwanese friend I had met in Tokyo after I graduated college, and she finally found my email and happily responded to me, telling me about her kids and we caught up a bit.
Taiwan is a cool country, and upon reading a book about General Claire Chennault and the Flying Tigers (I'm a huge Flying Tigers fan), I learned how exactly the commie-infiltrated US State Department had handed China over to Mao's communists. The USA betrayed Chiang Kai Shek, who was a staunch ally of ours. General "Vinegar" Joe Stilwell (racist Democrat POS) had hated CKS and had a feud with him, but CKS favored Chennault who had studied Chinese culture and assimilated. Fortunately, MacArthur (Republican) was in charge of Japan's occupation and Japan thrived. Taiwan was sort of on their own, but have managed to survive and thrive.
There may be bad actors in the Taiwanese government, but the Taiwanese people appreciate Trump. If China does attack Taiwan, I really hate to see people get killed because I cannot equate those pepole to the Azov Battalion in Ukraine. I'm just not cool with the thought of Taiwan getting attacked. With China encroaching in recent days, I am rather concerned. The old friend I'd reached out to will be visiting the USA and Canada this week and stay there for the rest of the month. I pray for her and her family's safety. And I'd hate to see my coworker get stranded there if an invasion were to break out while she's over there.
Sorry for concernfagging, but Taiwan has a special place in my heart, despite me never having been there.
Remember that whatever we know about various countries, and yes that includes Taiwan, is part of the illusion of the matrix. At heart all countries are great, and normal people living there are all wonderful by themselves, but each country has a ruling Cabal puppetry that has created various problems inside and outside their country.
Solving these problems and removing not just the puppetry but also the structures they have built and the illusionary webs they have weaved.
A lot of these things require carefully planned actions - some kinetic, some non-kinetic. Almost all countries are going through this.
Even i there is need for kinetic action in Taiwan, I don't believe it will be as bloody or devastating as in Ukraine, since the entrenchment there was very deep.
Whatever happens as we enter closer and closer to precipice, lets keep our minds open and always remember that there have been immense collateral casualties all across the world, and there is almost no price too high to pay for Great Awakening.
Before I went to bed last night I found out about hobby horsing...
Some memes should just stay dreams
I've probably missed your the point you are making. Are you joking or are you referring to a kid riding a horse on a stick? I had both as a kid and my grandchild will also.
Horse on stick
Rocking Horse
Oh no I do not mean traditional children's toys..I mean this new "sport"
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8RkcwRg/
What the?? 😂 I wonder how much it costs to be a part of that? We pay a pretty penny for my daughter to do that on a horse that requires hay. Freakin weird world.
Lord Bless that's insane. People will do anything these days. I don't need to participate in hobby horse games. I can injure myself standing still.
Kind of like extreme ironing, but with enablers.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.
This turned into a really nice thread, and I'm going to check into Kitchens of Distinction. Obviously I've never heard of them. 😁
My shoegaze starts and ends with My Bloody Valentine and a little Slowdive. That's probably like saying my basketball knowledge is entirely Michael Jordan, but I do like what I've heard. More would be nice.
And R.E.M. is top-tier in the one of those bands I know a little about, but know I should know more category. Random, little known tracks of theirs pop up and, when they do, the majority of the time I think "damn fine tune".
A couple other bands that I feel this way about, that I feel have a similar vibe: Guided by Voices, Third Eye Blind and, I suspect the most talented of them, a the B-52s.
Thanks for the tunes. 😃
Kitchens of Distinction is shoegaze with rather shimmering guitars. Their album "Strange Free World" is good, but while "Death of Cool" has perfected their unique shoegaze appeal, while it has some fantastic songs, that one has more gay crap. If you want the KoD sound but without the gay stuff, I definitely recommend Airiel. In an interview, the guitarist flat out admitted that he wants to make KoD-style guitar music to get chicks. If you're up for 10 minutes of fantastic guitar in a sentimental love song by Airiel, listen to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4zM49AcfLg
For Christian shoegaze, the first two Starflyer 59 albums, Silver and Gold, fit the bill, but are a bit on the heavier guitar sound rather than the warm fuzzy sound.
The first two albums by Russian band Pinkshinyultrablast are fantastic (plus the EP leading up to those), but unfortunately they went full-on dance music and got boring. From the Philippines came a phenomenal shoegaze band called Moscow Olympics that matched New Order-style basslines with Pet Shop Boys-style vocals. They released one incredible album in which each song just got better and better than the first, and then the band just disappeared. I even tried reaching out to fans in the Philippines and nobody there knows what happened to them. Sad.
For the original shoegaze scene, a lot of the bands were all friends with each other. Lush, Chaapterhouse, Pale Saints and Moose all got along with each other, which gave the shoegaze scene the moniker "the scene that celebrates itself." Shoegaze was a bit of a derogatory term initially, but has since then become far more appreciated for its impact on music.
The few Third Eye Blind songs I like. I've never heard of Guided by Voices, guess I'll explore a new artist. I love almost every genre but it's something about B 52s I don't like. Years ago saw them open for Sugarland and I sat the entire time. Totally out of character for me I'll be the only middle aged woman standing and acting a fool at a concert. Strangely my husband the classic rock/Hank Jr fan likes them.
Awesome! 👏👏👏
A couple of months ago I picked up the "And I Feel Fine: The Best of R.E.M." album which covers their IRS Records days, before they signed on with Time Warner and got boring and mainstream. One of my favorite bands in high school.
Driver 8! Probably my favorite.
That's the only REM song I know. Might have to listen to them. I don't know why but didn't get into them. I loved The Romantics and years ago found an album in good condition. Still listen to them when I want to go back to 81-85, my high school years. By 85 I was either into old classic rock, little bit of 80s country and a little bit of pop.
I believe that Michael Stype is gay, but that never influenced his lyrics at all. He kept that out of his songwriting, fortunately. R.E.M. did some rather exceptional neo-Country songs that are great. I had many of their albums on audio cassette, but never replaced them with CDs. This "best of" album is the only CD of theirs I own, and it has all my favorites, plus some I hadn't heard of before.
I'm going to check them out. Thanks for posting, I had forgotten about REM. Recently I've been listening to 80s rock music full albums. I've always thought the better or deeper songs were not released on radio. Over the last two years I've been listening to GNR & Queen a lot. I've listened to country music for the past thirty years and at this time in my life I need rock music to escape life sometimes. I'm all over the place with music and my mood chooses what I'm listening to. If I'm sad it's Led Zeppelin. If an artist is Gay I'll listen to the music if I like it. When they start pushing their agenda I'm out. Freddie Mercury and George Michael were gay and very talented, probably a lot more I'm forgetting. Michael Jackson, not sure about other than just weird or controlled. I rarely listen to him but loved it back then.
There was a fantastic shoegaze band I fell in love with in high school in the early '90s called Kitchens of Distinction. Beautiful stuff. But the more I listened to the lyrics, I was like, "Holy crap, this guy is totally GAY!" Full of accusations, holding society responsible for his F'ed up mental well-being instead of blaming his depravity and faggotry. I loved the music until I started paying attention to what he was saying in the lyrics, and it ruined it for me.
(shoegaze band) is a new term I'm not familiar with. I went full country in the 90s and didn't explore any genres except classic rock. Maybe because I was newly married with a baby. For some reason I thought I had to loose some of myself to be good wife and mom🤣 Crazy thoughts we get in our heads.
We had an amazing classic rock radio station 80s & 90s. RDU 106.1 and now that is talk radio. They play rock from every decade. There's still a version of that station but nothing like what it was. They do still honor 50 minutes no interruptions for commercials. Today it's the only radio station I'll listen to.
Fun times!
Damn. I’m early and I’m still late.

A meme worthy comment.
Still writing that essay. I do not want to throw out something half-assed.
In retrospect, this would probably require a couple days to write up, along with gathering all of the videos and transcripts and evidence. There is a lot to go through.
No worries, take your time, do tag me when you make the post.

What I have written.
I'm finally on next days thread before morning. Y'all are great but I'd rather be home in bed asleep. At least I'm getting caught up on post here. I need to keep a go bag packed with healthy snacks, book, glasses etc. Last week my brother had a heart attack and praise God, first responders, his work medical Tean & hospital he's alive and home today. If he had been home in the boon docks he would not be alive. Fast forward to tonight and I'm in ER with my mom. She's at a nursing home and they randomly checked her oxygen and it's low. Hurry up and wait around here for test, blood work etc. I hear this small local hospital can't get help. I also heard people have left the ER because of management and getting off on holidays is by seniority. Meaning some get off all the time and new to five year nurses have to work. (I know people that has worked here.) We all know how bad the medical system is these days. But where you going to go with its an emergency!? I can't complain about the staff, they are doing their jobs but have at least 5 patients. Just ranting! Of course this is a day I don't have even Tylenol or herbs with me. Chairs here aren't fit for a cat! My dad's so stressed from the last week he had to home. He couldn't sit in the chairs. Edit: Someone is seriously blowing a car horn at the ER where staff enter/exit. I hope I don't come off as not caring about my mom. She's either asleep or getting test.
Anytime I go to the hospital now, I bring a blanket and a pillow to sleep in the car if I have to. The last time I was at the hospital in Kauai with my family member, I slept in the back seat of the truck. I had the most bizarre dream, I really had some REM sleep. Weird.
Praying for you and your family and hoping things are better soon. We’re all being tested right now. It’s getting old. Lol God bless. Have a great night.
If I gotta be in hospital Hawaii would be my preferred location. I'm only ten minutes from the hospital. I just got home. They are admitting her for test tomorrow. She's going to sleep through the night and they have our numbers. I appreciate your kindness and prayers.
I’m hoping all is well with your mom. The Lord will see her through. Get some rest.
Thanks fren🐸 I'm home and on here for a bit then asleep.
Prayers for you and your mom, Moody. And your brother. The whole family, and the hospital. We are being tested. Sometimes you need to step out of the room to rest. Your mom would understand. Breathe deep, and lean on Him.
Thanks fren🐸 your kind words and prayers are appreciated. Things always happen in groupings, especially groups of three. I know I'm being tested, too much has happened in the last year. Then again it might be that volcano rock I brought back from Hawaii ten years ago. I'm joking but I was told they receive it back in the mail all the time because people think Pele, goddess of Kīlauea has cursed them. I know God is in control we all will go through trials.
(i'm late to these threads second time in a row)
there still plenty more popcorn to go around? i'm feeling HYPE as of late
Keep the positive attitude… We need people like you when I myself am feeling down. Thanks for the uplifting spirit.
Sure thing

Maybe tomorrow you'll be first at being disappointed 😀
One can only hope.
Ok, ok …. The next person can be 1st in being disappointed.
I’m passing the baton… Here is your award.
1st In 🥇🏆
I’ll update the name once the next person claims their prize.
EDIT: We have a winner: u/Mr_A 🥇🏆
I was so disappointed that I left without posting anything. And then I came back for more. So good to see I wasn't alone and others were just as disappointed too.
Well, if that’s the case, then you probably were first. So we’re going to give you the award for today! Yay!
2nd place is just the first loser, Dale Earnhardt Sr.
My daughter coined this phrase when she was a very young. Probably 12 or 13.
There’s no such thing as losers, just winners who have never won!
Prophetic
I love that. Your daughter is a trooper! None of that getting participation trophy crap.
If you grammar fag I'm going to go all Greekish on your ass
You called me?
I have to board a 'plane in a few hours. Flying doesn't bother me, although I have a slight fear of stopping really suddenly.
However, the bullshit that accompanies flying really stresses me out. I'm the guy who ALWAYS gets pulled out of line for an additional "security" check. The passport recognition machine never recognises mine. There's always a tiny bottle of eye drops secreted away in my bag - been there for years and forgotten about. And "please remove your belt" so I waddle through the check point with my trousers round my ankles.
Anyway, I'm going to read this on the 'plane:

🤦🏻♀️ I'm the worst speller and usually try very hard to make sure it's right before posting world wide. Thanks for letting me know fren🐸 It's correct now.
Went right over my head🤣 Glad we have misspelling and being awake in common.
Autocorrect is the enemy. They pretend it's correct but its knot.
Just thought of a scenario for a mild black but not black comedy film.
AI develops in the world and becomes sentient (fiction, btw). But AI doesn't go all skynet. What the AI does is gradually engage with the humans in the form of all the automated activities. Primarily, AI spends its time messing up people's writing and making 'mistakes' as the spell checker.
That's it. AI is happy and satisfied. It's a comedian.
Film takes about 20 minutes.
That would be super funny. But I think they have somebody who already does that Siri! KEK!
Also Ender's Game, and especially the sequel Speaker For The Dead, has a benign AI that is neither skynet nor Hal (2001 Space Odyssee). I really like the AI in those books.
And of course there's Marvin the Paranoid Android, but fortunately with limited powers. That's the closest to a comedic AI that I know of. Let me know when you publish!
Jane. Yeah, that is a really excellent series of books. Both directions (Ender's story, Bean's story) are brilliant, imo.)
I like it! The playful cat AI.
There's a book called "The Player of Games" by Iain Banks where the AI is basically a benign enabler throughout the story, and yet it's very creative. About different and conflicting cultures interacting within that scheme. One of my favorite books.
I see what you did 😊 with "knot" At least I still know the difference between there and there. It's amazing I remember half the stuff I was taught in school. Only class I liked was history and got straight A's. The rest I barely passed. I wasn't dumb, I just didn't care about learning. When I was in fourth grade my mom asked me why I knew every song on the radio and not my school work. "Because music is interesting and school isn't" Now I want to learn everything.
I hate Siri
Siri, Alexa, Hey Google are the same making humans lazier. I only use Siri to text if I'm driving. My husband should pay her for being his assistant. He even uses it to set a timer on his phone.
Oh yeah non of this technology is for us! I turned off auto correct for that reason. I think I have predictive text on, not sure. When I type wh, what & when is above the keyboard. I'm just tired and missed it. Heck I just read the quote before posting to make sure I was right.
none
There you go. No charge. ;)
😂👏🐸
