I relieved her. We ended up on the topic of abortion, and since she has a 4 Y/O child I wrongfully assumed she was neutral or pro-life. I told her about the video circa mid-80's The Silent Scream. This is a 30 minute documentary that is presented by a Dr. using models, abortion tool displays, and a sonogram taken by an abortion Dr. which the Dr. doing the narration of the documentary claims the aborting Dr. never did another abortion after viewing the film of the sonogram. In the footage you can see the fetus clearly agitated as the suction tube breaks the sack and sucks out the fluid. Then the fetus is terrified as the suction tube rips it apart.
When I told her that pro-choice was actually poor choice, I guess that was the last straw and she stormed away. Most likely she will inform the site supervisor and/or upper management. All of which are Christians, but Jesus said many will use His Name and Know Him not. I guess we will see what happens.
The perception of what security is and the reality are two different things. I know in the beginning Security Licenses came about because many security guards were fresh out of jail. I had a pair of brothers who were my friends and their father and uncle both worked in security, and were also in and out of jail.
I guess I'm petty, because if I get terminated I will write a letter explaining how corners are cut to save the building management company money. The typical camera setup doesn't work well because its digital and they degrade the quality as well as only record when there's movement, but this doesn't work very well. See the suspect then see again 20 ft away etc... Also no proper documentation of incidents. Our reports go to the security company management to "Fix" any problems. This is only a sampling of the problems and is systemic throughout the industry.
In-House security working directly for the client instead of through an agency is a better option. Basically contract security takes some of the money and all of the benefits at most agencies. As a senior, I have Insurance via my wife, and since I work a lot of OT, I can take a non-paid vacation. However a job that pays 1.5 for OT and if you work on a holiday doesn't attract the best when it comes to younger people.
The state I reside in has the most lax security laws, but is now trying to improve them. 2 years ago you had 6 months to take the online course and get a security License. This leads the management to find a body any body to fill the positions. I was also shocked when I found out there was no training requited 2 years ago for handcuffs, batons, stun guns, pepper spray etc... Thank God that changes now Jan. 1st.
I'm not an eloquent speaker, but I will stand up for what I believe in. I literally had a few close incidents over the last few years on the bus regarding the vax and the myriad other things going on. I had to learn how to determine when its appropriate, when an Urban youth screamed at me I could be assassinated (I was talking about Obama at the time lol) I have woke a few people up regarding the vax etc.. and there's a good chance I may have at least made someone think before deciding on abortion.
As Trump says, We will have to see what happens...
Note: My supervisor is sort of based, but is fully brainwashed Re: the Palestinian/ Israeli conflict. He supports israel genociding the Palestinians. Pastors have been useful idiots regarding the jewish people. There's a disconnect between chosen peoples, and having to accept Jesus or go to hell. Now the Cabal is done using the Christians, they want to exterminate.
As for me, everyone is a good person until they prove themselves otherwise. I believe most people are good regardless of religion, race, or nationality. I'm not on Israel's side, or the Palestinians, I'm on the side of the innocent people killed on both sides.
God bless Trump, the Q team, the Anons.
I don't think they have legal grounds to fire you for being Pro-Life. You have freedom of speech and were not intentionally attempting to hurt anyone. The sensitive bitch got triggered by something she didn't like, tough shit. If they fire you, get it in writing and sue the shit our of them.
Yeah, Thanks for your advice. I might just do that... Security is a dirty business.
Basically on par with the illegals except for taxes.
I got into security after getting hurt in an industrial accident. I left, but always end up back, and now I have no intention of doing anything else, I'm 65...
When I started in Security I'd say 1/3rd was in-house and 2/3rds were agencies. The main selling point is that the security company will at least have a body to fill in. Whereas if you hire them yourself, who covers for a call off. Most security is 1 per shift. So now maybe 5% is in-house.
Nice Hotels often have in-house and pay a bit more and have benefits. They make up for it by having lots of duties that an agency guard wouldn't do.
Often on third shift you are Bellmen, Engineering, Housekeeping, Deliver the express checkouts, and pick up breakfast menus. Many security guards are quite lazy, but I never minded having to cover other work, I had better pay and benifits.
Maybe stop talking politics and just do your job. Even looking at your posts right now you are talking waaaay too much.
I never talk politics at work. Talk about sports, weather or anything else. I know a guy like you who constantly gets fired for talking too much. You might need to listen more.
I have a couple coworkers that I sometimes have to remind that we are being paid to work. Doesn't matter what the topic, after 20 minutes break time is over and it's interrupting others. There's plenty of opportunities to chat - take an offsite lunch break with coworkers.
Also know your audience. There is no way I would talk politics with a liberal hive mind at work.
They are first to send you to gulags. If Trump was fairly elected different story. But we are under commie rule.
Yea, just sit on your morals while they shove liberal rhetoric up your ass. Be a good goy. Kneel when they hand you your shekels.
So what if you could have saved a baby. It’s not worth job security. It’s just politics, it’s not like it actually changes anything...
Just sit at home reading online message boards praying somebody will deliver you, counting your 30 pieces of silver.
Exactly.
Shutting up got us here.
Yeah. I shouldn’t have been so acerbic but I tire of cowards.
Says J6ers who posted shit on Facebook and now getting rounded up by FBI.
They did their civic duty, what angers me is that we're not up in arms to get them out. Ffs francis scott key traded himself for a group of prisoners on that prison ship, and we wont even save protesters who've been locked up for 3 going on 4 years with no trial!?
This is what I am saying. En masse means wat more than rhat.
In this case lady already had a 4yr old. But OP assumed and was talking about a abortion movie.
You can't read.
You probably also getting fired alot for running your mouth.
Yeah and just deny that you said anything if it was just between you two then she made it up lol….
Sage advice... Working security for years where you are alone makes one a bit communication starved, but even before that, as a child, my gram used to tell me I could talk before I could walk and haven't shut up since. LOL I was a preemie baby, it was true.
This is the problem with people.
We need to speak up not accept.
Not in a liberal hell hole. No thx.
It’s actually considered “harrassment” according to most HR training videos now a days. They can argue that OP is making an uncomfortable work environment and his previous run-ins (like the student/Obama altercation) only substantiates the claim.
They say worse and we accept it.
We got here shutting up.
Naw. Losing a job in a liberal hell hole is all you gain in this situation.
In other situations I'd agree. But you gotta play your cards and this is a losing battle.
I respectfully disagree.
If they want you to sign anything - anything - simply say, "no problem, I will sign once my attorney has had a chance to review it." Then make sure you have an employment lawyer who represents employees ready to speak to (the vast majority represent the employment side). This was advice given to me by an employment law attorney. Some companies offer legal benefit plans if you need a place to start or if you have an attorney, ask for a referral. It doesn't mean the outcome won't change - in this case they still may let you go. But it puts them on their toes because most people just sign, usually because they are in shock. This happens a lot in layoff situations and by signing, you lose significant leverage that is difficult to get back after the fact.
Just a clarifying question, do you approve of the Palestinian terrorists who murdered and brutalized the Israelis?
Maybe I can answer for him. I disapprove of the idf and mossad allowing the attack. I disapprove of the Israeli citizens being disarmed.
And of course the butchers that attacked are evil, but those that allowed it to happen are just as bad if not worse.
I agree that it looks like the attack was allowed to happen, similar to 9/11, but the Hamas terrorists are truly evil, and a very large fraction of the Palestinian population supports them.
I'm never in approval of anyone harming another.
If they have trouble finding employees, you're probably fine. Maybe you'll get a meeting or phone call with HR about "appropriate workplace discussions" or some such, but no sense worrying now. Take care.
We will see, I survived 2 seperate accusations of racism at a hotel I worked for in-house. I'm not too worried, no benefit security jobs are easy to find. I was hired pre-interview.
My company has the owner and an assistant... Rather small company.
I'm guessing the lady ether had an abortion or knows people close to her who have had one. My attitude is If I make someone think and make a different choice (Regarding topic) and 99 dislike or ignore me, its all good. I know several times when I reached someone experiencing physical abuse, or people with dead end jobs...
Just say you identify as a black women.
They might promote you.
Security is the only employment where they like old white guys... 2 years never called off, never late. I work OT when asked...
Young people think its ok to be late, constantly want schedule changes, and call off often. My company lets the site supervisors interview people, and my boss has a soft spot for welfare-range-people.
A funny aside, my company was underpaying me, so when they asked me to work OT at a really hard security post and I knew they paid more there, I asked for a transfer. My supervisor is 72 and doesn't need the money, he just can't give up working. I'm the one who covers most of the call offs etc... I got a raise and am still in my much easier post. However I would have been ok if they had transferred me instead. I actually don't mind being busy.
I have a question for you and maybe some advice that could help - you know your situation and the people you work for better than I do, obviously.
Question (2 part): How did your conversation get to the topic of abortion and who brought the topic up in the first place. If she brought it up, you're pretty much in the clear, IMO. She brought it up, you gave your opinion - end of story.
Advice: No matter who brought up abortion in convo, get ahead of it by telling your side to your supervisor. Not in a rat out way, just that you are concerned because it was obviously something that upset your coworker. Go on offense rather than try to defend yourself after she has complained. Or, do nothing and let the chips fall where they may.
This. Own the narrative.
My fault for brining it up. She has a child so I assumed she was pro-life. Most likely had an abortion previously. We had just met, I was her relief.
Going to let the chips fall where they may...
Well good luck with that mess. Best part of retirement is that if shit canned, it is easy to shrug off and move on to the next place. Easy leaving when I get bored to another.... whatever.
Thanks, yeah always easy to find a shit job. Security is the one industry that likes old white men. We show up regularly... Kek
can't really put the genie back in the bottle, if you were called spiritually to mention that movie, then so be it
creator has a plan for us, so if you are to stay there, you will, if you are to move to something else, that will happen
Amen.
Indeed! God bless!
Probably don’t want to talk about sucking babies out of uteruses and them screaming and dying the first time you meet somebody. Especially at work. That entire conversation is something that you work up to, you just don’t dump all that on somebody.
Now… Of course, I agree with you I think it’s murder, but it’s a very sensitive subject, also, even if I did agree with you, I wouldn’t want to talk about babies being sucked out of a vagina at work.
I hope you don’t lose your job, but sometimes we have to be a little bit more sensitive about the topics. We discussed at work, or anywhere for that matter.
Yeah, bad choice of topic... She has a child but probably murdered a previous...
I wish there was an updated, better quality Silent Scream video made. I'm sure if women contemplating abortion saw the reality, many would chose life for the baby.
I was thrown when you said the pay is high $17 and up. Thats not high pay here in Canada the minimum wage is $16.55.
But just so you know security companies usually get the dregs of society. I did security temporary during 1991 and believe it or not I got the job automatically because I was white. Apparently very few whites here apply for that job so when whites show up they are hired right there without an interview.
Yeah, spot on. I'm in Tenn. now, but the last job in Fla. before I moved abroad in 2017 was paying 9-10 an hour depending on location. My previous high was 11.67 working in-house security at a hotel 2001-2007. Even now, wages in Orlando are a few bucks less. Here in Tenn. the minimum wage is 7.25, but no one makes that at least in the big cities.
Prayers for you!!!
TY
I can't help but picture you as Mike Ehrmantraut 🐸
Nah. Mike doesn't talk this much.
Good point😁👌
LOLZ
No more half-measures, Walt. Either you're pro-life or not!
If your company is that desperate for personnel, and since you appear to be articulate and above average intelligence, you may just get off with a slap on the wrist. If you get a PIP or something like that, I'd give you the same advice I gave my wife a few years ago when she got a PIP for "attitude adjustment."
She was furious... a great worker, a hard worker, but some of the 'mean girls' at her job ratted her out for "not fitting in" or something. It was bogus, my wife just didn't have time to engage in girl talk or gush over every new baby that the girls brought in after maternity leave.
At the time, we both needed the jobs we had, so I sat down with her and let her vent... fully ... and then suggested that she go back in the next day, put on her 'game face,' meet with her manager, sign the stupid PIP agreement, go above and beyond whatever was suggested to her, smile a lot (my wife was and is an actress in local community theater), and play the part for the required duration of the PIP.
I think it was 2, maybe 3 months. She did just that, and at the end of the period was given an "atta-boy" and the PIP was reascended. It finally turned out that her supervisor KNEW the complaint was bogus, but she had to go through the motions too.
My wife and I both absolutely HATE woke culture, the culture of snowflakes and victims and oppressed people, but it's the world we have to navigate in.
If you can tell you employer to take this job and shove it, fine. But if you need the job, become an actor and fake it with a smile on your face. You can do that, but in the back of your mind (this is the unspoken part) you can think, "Fuck you" all you want.
Sorry I can't do what you suggested.
Doing that got us where we are.
Oh I get it, your mileage may vary. This was a long time ago, though, and it made sense at the time.
Today... if put in that situation again I would probably handle it differently.
OK that makes more sense.
I ytell it like it is at work.
Well, I may have told you this before, but my very last job was at our local research university in the grants department. I edited and wrote grant proposals in science and engineering.
I began noticing that government interference started creeping into the process, forcing us to waste valuable space in a 15-page proposal on crap like affirmative action, diversity, environmental stuff, etc. That takes up a lot of space when you're limited to 15 pages.
I once voiced this concern and they looked at me like I had grown a second head. "WHAT?! SACRILEGE!'
I began to see that the writing was on the wall the way the university was heading so at a time of my choosing, I put in my retirement papers and never looked back.
No you never told me that.
The schools are all infested.
Great share and sage advice to the wife. In the end, I can find another bottom end job easier than they can replace me. They hire Urban young people who call off and arrive late. The people growing up on Government assistance are spoiled, and it will likely take a few generations to ween them. They all eat McDonalds food daily as well. LOL
Everyone is currently worth 3.4x higher than their current salary adjusting for inflation. That's $57.80 per hour for you OP.
Yeah, money is fast to spend and doesn't buy much. I keep as little as possible in the bank. Pay bills ahead and bought a small amount of actual money.
I was at 15 and pressured for a move to a better paying post. They increased my pay instead. 2 bucks an hour is the biggest raise I ever got and I'm 65. My wife who is in EKG tech. got 4.80 raise a few months ago, and is getting like .75 cost of living in Jan.
Inflation is crazy,
I don't see what grounds they could use to fire you, unless they go with something like harassing another employee. But honestly, as you stated, it's so hard to find employees these days, they'd be foolish to try. And if they did relieve you of your job, I wouldn't be surprised if they came back later begging you to return. Think of all the covid vaxx refusers who were later asked to return. Regardless, if you are a believer, God has this, fren. If you do get fired, He'll have something better for you. Thanks for sharing your story. Blessings and Merry Christmas to you.
Yeah, I'm a Christian, and Thanks for your kind words.
Certainly. And please keep us posted! I hope you won't be fired, but if you are, let us know and we'll all join in praying for something even better for you.
Thank you!
interesting. We should not take the higher road, but we should also be wise. Tough at times. for me i would listen for years about others talking about sports all the time and yet have not time to learn how to our job.
at work i focus on work and try and do the best work i can do. for instance, if i go to a business that is a different religion there is no point to say they are wrong. i am there to do a job and by doing a good job they -might- see how good i am. :)
where i find it, baffling is the opposite spectrum of this. when -they- say masks work and mrna works as if it is a religion and i am to kneel before them.
this is where i say -nope and i tell them to do what they have to do.
there is a thing called super spiritual and overzealous. over time people learn to be wiser and at times we all fail to do what we should do.
on this board i will say more than i will at work, but if the situation arises at work i have no issues about speaking up. the double standards of the religious freaks of leftism are at times the same. they become overzealous and super spiritual, however when they do these things it is ok, just as when a Christian does these things it is ok.
one of things that got us into this culture nightmare is this scenario. the people on the right and such usually just want to be left alone and most times will keep their mouth quiet, while the contrary takes place. the issue is they went for blood and demanded kneeling. they will and are reaping what they have sown.
not one person is perfect and there is a Spiritual war going on which involves both good and evil people, both knowingly and unknowingly supporting good and evil.
consider starting your own business? nothing better than a free person doing what they can and being their own boss. i am not a risk taker like that, but it sounds like you are. :)
I'm a senior who retired early and moved abroad. Now back in the states I had two choices. Live in a crime ridden apt. complex or return to work. My wife helps, but has a lot of family to support in her home country, she chips in 800 towards rent and utilities and I pay 1600-1700, then we both buy food and household.
We are going to move in a year to be closer to downtown, but live in a mid-rise condo instead of a big house with a lot of yardwork. We will be able to reduce our rent by 300-400 a month.
A lot of wisdom in your comments, thanks.
nice. One of the things i have always wanted to do with my family was to be more supportive of each other. When i was younger i did the math and seen how the successful familes of the world did it, yet i was not heard.
when i was young i remember oprah had a show and a guy was on there and he made 50,000 dollars a year. My mom would always watch her in the 80's. I remember thinking that was a ton of money and i prayed to God that when i grew up i wanted to be able to make that much money. Maybe 10 years old at the time and i knew what it was like to be starving and looked at as trash.
my grandpa was successful and so was my grandmother that lived in the same town. Grandpa was a mason and would take me to some meetings and such.
when i turned 18 i moved out the city/state i grew up and shortly after joined the Army. Still trying to get my family to see the benefit of helping each other, but never happened. when i left my hometown i left everything behind, girlfriend, friends, quit college... bought a ticket and left with nothing.
i have lived in places that was 300 a month and the neighbors would try and scare you as you came home from working 3 plus jobs. i would always wave at them and laugh.
as i get older and nearing the age of that word 'retirement' i cannot believe how it gets here. out of anyone who ever listened to me in my life is my wife. She was the girlfriend i left behind and she became homeless and worse for a time.
God gave me everything i have and i still wish my family would have listened to me. My wife took my advice, and she is very successful with many academics. For a time, she was also a democratic voter.. I refused to listen to my very educated wife telling me to take the mrna and i did it without yelling and with patience and was able to accomplish her from not making the kids get it and she as well decided to not to get it. Zero fights. I know it can be done.
the retribution of our lifestyle is we are both the black sheep of the families. My kids have lost family interactions because of our outlook.. mostly me. As we get older i still wish family was what it is supposed to be. in the usa it too is a fake. I am not bitter. I know God is real and very have the courage of leaving everything behind as i did and even fewer can understand this concept. :)
Thanks for sharing and for avoiding the jab for your family. God has been there for me even when I wasn't paying attention. I had a childhood from hell, but somehow God got me through it and uses me to help people when I can.
You are there to satisfy insurance requirements and provide the illusion of watchfulness. Please take your position seriously for your own mental well-being but don't risk your health or safety for entities who will toss you aside. The cameras are there for forensics, not prevention. If something isn't caught, it will come down on their heads and not yours, only then will something be done.
You are correct, in fact my first security job years ago was at a dog track, and the Insurance required someone to be on-site 24/7. Daytime had the Maint. and office staff. Before that they used to let a mean dog roam the building.
Fuck any circumstances, abortion is 100% wrong. The only reason to surgically remove a fetus is if its a miscarriage.
Yeah, I saw a video where an OBYGN claimed he never saw a case where killing the baby to save the mother happened.
