Happy New Year Frens! Hope this will be a healthy, happy, prosperous one for all. I’m excited about what this year holds. Was listening to Kent Christmas today from his service last evening at Regeneration Nashville. He is so anointed and when he gives a word from the Lord it’s powerful. Gonna start reading the Bible soon. Quick question to anyone should I read the King James version? Or the Geneva version? I've been trying to find out since I've noticed there may be some concerns with the King James version.
People have been saying that the King James Version is the most perfect version of the Bible as long as I can remember, but I came to realize this was not the case as I studied 2 Thessalonians.

Geneva Bible of 1587
for that day shall not come, except there come a departing first
Coverdale Bible of 1535
For the LORDE commeth not, excepte the departynge come first
Tyndale Bible of 1526
for the lorde commeth not excepte ther come a departynge fyrst
Now look at the Bishops' Bible of 1568
for the Lorde shall not come excepte there come a fallyng away first
The Bishop's Bible was translated by catholic bishops and this is the first time that this verse was ever translated as "falling away."
The King James adopted this bad translation from the Bishop's Bible.
I don't dislike the King James Version, in fact I think it is beautifully poetic, but it is definitely not perfect.
It is okay to read even bad translations of the Bible, most of them you will get the gist of what the Bible says, so I wouldn't worry about it too much, but just know that there is really no such thing as a "perfect" English translation, and anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you something.
Personally I have come to the point where I try to study the original Greek and Hebrew myself to try to understand the meaning. You don't have to be a professor of linguistics or anything. I have found a lot of interesting things about different verses by looking at the original languages.
Gotcha alright I've actually planned on reading at least 1 chapter a night. I want to spiritually heal myself because currently spiritually I feel broken. Even though I have a great job and can take care of myself I still feel empty.
Tbh I tried KJV because that's the best one, but the old English made it really hard for me to read. I prefer NIV to read but to listen (audio book) I highly recommend this KJV version with Jim Caviezel playing Jesus.

I still have the CDs from a decade ago. But you can buy the audible from Amazon and doenload to phone to listen while working driving etc
You will get many different answers to this question. Here is mine.
If you have never read the whole Bible, cover to cover, start with which ever one you will actually read. Ask God to guide you. God's word is like a hologram. Each translation can offer a ray that all comes together for the fuller picture. Best thing to do is remain in prayer as you read. Let the holy spirit teach you. Both the versions you mentioned have a value. our growth in Christ is endless.

I started reading KJV, but later found out that Geneva version is what inspired the founding pilgrims when they came to America, and supposedly has a lot of footnotes that are valuable, that are omitted in the KJV version.
Perfect. I just wanted to check cause while I am lost on where to begin I tried checking here through search if the KJV was a good start. Didn't know there were quite a lot of translations of the holy script so I was quite confused. It's why I put the question here. I figured there are more here with knowledge on this so that I could finally get some answers as to how to connect with God and read his holy text.

Prayer request please for 9-month old niece not breathing well. In hospital with RSV. Unable to nurse and breathe and so dehydrated. Please pray with me for healing.

Lord you asked us to come to you in our time of suffering and struggles. So we lift up this precious child to you with humble hearts and ask for you to have mercy on your perfect creation. The blackouts they keep posting are Radio blackouts caused by solar flares. We are currently in Solar Cycle 25 and it'll only get more active. These charts they provide as 'proof' are for radio operators (like myself) to know which parts of the ionosphere might currently eat up your signals. It's the dumbest larp.

It'll do the same thing as the rest of the cycles have - it get's busier until the solar maximum (this is based on number of sunspots) until it calms down and we start another cycle. They last on average 10-11 years. 25 is predicted to be less busy that 24, and will probably end in 2030.
Hams like an active solar cycle because it can open up other methods of propagation we don't normally have access to with a 'quiet' sun.

Just wanted to post this here since I have no one else to vent to. Just broke up with my girlfriend on new years eve. Don't wanna get into details but I found out some things she did recently that are just really downright dishonest and she isn't being up front with me. She has some deep mental issues that I've been trying to help her with but she doesn't want my help, and tonight what I found out just pushed me over the edge and I realized she's been basically using me to enable her bad habits. I told her I wouldn't do it anymore and she blew up at me acting like I was attacking her.
I would ask some frens to pray for her because I can't get through to wake her up.
Best thing to do is to separate yourself from her as quickly as you can. If not, she will destroy you as well. Sometimes the best thing you can do for you both is to get away. Let God take care of it. Go live your life and look forward not backward.
You've helped her all you could. You've planted the seed. God will do the rest for whatever plan He has for her life's journey.
It's time for you to shake the dust off your boots and move on. Plant seeds somewhere else. Pray to God to send you your soulmate to spend your days with and become fruitful.
My prayers - look at it as a blessing, it may have saved you years of grief and tears. Mental illness gets hard to live with when the person refuses to acknowledge the problem or do anything to resolve it. Speaking from personal experience.

I can either pour out peace with my actions, or pour out war. I know which my Savior wants me to do & where the other choice is truly rooted.
I have grappled with that for a while. I get so passionate about what is going on. I have gotten passed what people think of me. I had to have a "Come to Jesus" with myself that I rather save my soul than save face. I am sure we have all gone through something like that. I post and post and post on Facebook, Twitter, and Tik Tok. I will post something like this: Red Pill Meme, Red Pill Meme, Red Pill Meme, Scripture, Daily word from God with pretty picture, Red Pill, Red Pill, Red Pill, Joke, Joke, Joke. My mom has already figured out my routine. KEK! But, she has to read some of it to know when I am stopping with the jokes. She is not quite awaken yet. She is with her eyes just a little open, but I am still working on it.
I honestly believe what we are doing is from God. We are fighting for the TRUTH AND WHAT IS RIGHT!
