""Thank you for your continual prayers Penisse...""
See this right here is what makes g a w just so f****** top flite. Also your daughter has a mom like you and also all the prayer warriors here so she'll be fine. It's all in God's hands. Also kek once again for good measure. Penisse kek.
Praying for Christina, her husband, their children & you dear Tweety! God has walked with her every step and she has achieved a hard fought victory. His Mercy helped the couple to heal and forgive her, her sobriety and lifted your family during this year... I'm praying for His Tender Mercies to be with you all and the Judge in her March hearing. Hugs to you all! ššš
Now with 35 years clean and sober, I will tell anyone that I didn't do it alone. I have a loving God and all my friends in AA who helped me along the way. Now I sponsor five other guys who are newer to the program and I try my best to keep my spiritual house in order.
If I could tell a newcomer only ONE thing (and I have told many of them this), it is DON'T PICK UP THAT FIRST DRINK. I spend most of my energy in AA simply not taking the first drink. As our literature from the 1940s (the "Big Book") says, the first drink sets up a new craving that cannot be satisfied. I know this is true because I had to test it myself back 35 years ago. So I work the First Step every morning to remind myself that I am powerless over alcohol and that my life used to be unmanageable, and I ask my Higher Power to help me stay sober today.
That's my best AA advice in a nutshell. Other things are to keep going to meetings, have a sponsor to call frequently, and help others. But the paragraph above is my advice to people who want to keep it simple.
Iāve been noting that it seems to be the case that there has to be a constructive alternative, because sin removed and replaced with nothing seems to leave a vacuum.
Is that something thatās taught there?
Itās seemed to be effective with me.
In my long-time understanding of recovery (from alcohol and drug abuse) is something that the co-founder of AA, Bill Wilson, discussed in correspondence with the famous psychiatrist Carl Jung. In one of the letters Jung sent Bill, he said that all humans have a need for a spiritual fulfilling, and if that spiritual filling is not met, they will fill it with other things, like alcohol. Jung said that it is no coincidence that we call alcohol "spirits"... because it is a poor and cheap substitute for real spiritual fulfillment.
So AA is not solely about stopping alcohol drinking, it is an entire way of life and a spiritual program that says, no matter how far down the scale you have gone, there is a place for you in AA.
The stories I have heard from people in AA would curl your hair, and most average folks would scarcely believe they happened at all. I know a man who spent 16 years in prison for a murder he could not recall doing because he was in a blackout. I know people who had lost everything, but are now walking, talking, and laughing miracles.
Drink and drugs are just a symptom of spiritual sickness and a life out of control. Only after the drugs and alcohol are no longer in charge, people in recovery can then set about rejoining the human race as productive and valued members. By working the 12 Steps of AA, people become whole again and even the most devout former atheist can become a spiritual believer.
Happy Birthday, Christina!! Huge accomplishment & I'm so proud of you. I have 2 children that are recovering addicts, my son remains locked in the lifestyle trying to stay clean but afraid to fully leave the life & deal with his real issues. The other is my daughter, Becky, who has had cancer twice in 11 years, has 2 children that we took in while she finally went to a 15 month long treatment program & has now been clean for nearly 6 years. She graduated in May with her LADC & is working with ex-cons, helping them to learn to live a clean & sober life. God has been so good to her & itās been the greatest testimony just to watch her living her life.
Thereās so much more to her story but this post is about Christina. May God hold her in His hand as she walks forward. Shes doing the hard work just by staying sober during this hard time. God will continue to give her strength, all He asks is that she reach out for His hand. Gods blessings!!
Thank you for sharing Christinaās story. While itās difficult for a mother to write it down, we never know whose life we are touching once itās told. My Becky got cancer the 2nd time after she was clean for 3 years. She was engaged to a wonderful man, also a recovering alcoholic (5 yrs) who is very active in AA. They got married after her bilateral mastectomy & chemo/radiation treatment & have been reaching for the stars since then. Iām not saying itās all been easy. They both leaned heavily on God & sheās cancer free now for 2 years. If you asked them they would both tell you that God & family support is what has brought them through their recovery. God is so good to His people. He loves each & every one of us beyond our imagination. I cannot even fathom a Father that loves my children more than I do! But I know itās true.
This conversation has been such a blessing to me. Thank you for your openness & honesty. Itās really difficult to find people who are willing to be honest about the people they love, yet be honest about the hurt theyāve cost others. God doesnāt expect us to be perfect, just to be in His light & ask for guidance. I see that in your posts. Thank you for your live for Christina & the kindness youāve shown me & my beautiful daughter, Becky! God bless, Julie
Wow, I don't think I saw your post last year, but this is a very touching story and I have a lot of respect for you in being able to share it. Even though I'm sure your family has had unbearable stress over the past year it appears there will be a good ending. Christina is very fortunate to have you as such a supportive parent and I am confident she will have many more sober bdays to come. Hang in there and know that your frens here on GAW will continue to pray for you and your family.
I will be praying for the Lord above doesnāt give us what we deserve. Jesus paid the price. It seems you like me have learned to trust God completely because without Him we would not make it. Blessings!
God bless you and your family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Iām sure itās been a long year for all of you. But you have a silver lining from your grief. Your son in law is now saved. There is a chance at your daughters hearing the judge will see the progress she has made and will allow her to stay with her children and supportive family to continue to heal
Having worked in nursing homes in the past I know how emotionally it affected my life when I lost a patient. I canāt imagine working in a hospice program where all your patients are dying. Although I never turned to drugs or alcohol to get through my emotions I can see where someone else might
I will pray your daughter stays sober the rest of her life and lives as a Christian example for your two grandchildren under her care
There is a reason for every season in our lives and perhaps the uplifting atmosphere of Chick-fil-A will be a balm to her spirit and help her find happiness in her daily work life...
Thank you, dear Abba Father, for using this near-tragedy to draw Christina and her family closer to you. Thank you for your faithfulness and lovingkindness toward the injured people, and thank you for causing your healing to continue for all involved and for their loved ones. Hallelujah. Amen.
So glad to hear that the people she had the accident with didn't get seriously hurt, and that your daughter has had such a great turn-around in her life! I will pray that the judge is merciful and will see that prison would not do anyone any good in this situation!
First of all, I appreciate and respect you (tweety51A) as one of the consistent Christian voices here on GA. Your faith in the Lord is unwavering and is truly an inspiration to all of us that love our Lord Jesus.
While we don't understand many of the things that come our way in life, I can tell you (from personal experience) that trusting and obeying the Lord is the way to go no matter what. He loves us all and wants us only to accept Him and follow Him.
It is great to hear that Christina's husband has accepted the Lord - it will strengthen him for the road ahead (whatever that entails).
I join you in prayer that the Lord's will be done with respect to Christina's legal matters. My He see fit to spare her from time in prison so she can look after her young children at home. But whatever the outcome is, that she may continue a life of sobriety and be an good example of what a Christian mother is for the sake of her two kids.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Please surround this family with Your love and mercy. Strengthen them in faith in their hour of need. May Your will be accomplished in their lives and may Your name be praised. Bless also the injured couple, heal their broken bodies and let them see the love of Jesus Christ even in the midst of this terrible situation.
Bless tweety51A - may she feel an extra measure of Your lovingkindness as she goes forward to serve You in 2024.
We thank you for loving us in spite of our failures. Strengthen and guide us through this life until we meet You face to face. Praise Your wonderful name.
Amen.
Just so you are aware. This post can easily allow others to figure out who you are having used her name & being able to look up scheduled felony hearings.
Inam so glad that she is recovering & it is a lifelong recovery, or a lifelong daily choice to remain sober. You & your family will remain in our prayers my friend & I pray God walks with your entire family & keeps them safe & close to him.
Iām so happy for you and your family, and God showed up! He showed up big time.
So Heavenly Father we ask you to show up one more time in a big way. We ask that you go before Christina and fight her battles here on this earth, and help her to move forward with the life that she is showing that she has been repentant from - and help her to move forward with her family and her children and her husband. We beg for your mercy, Lord - and are expecting a full report from Tweety, in the near future. In Jesus name amen.
Not only is this the year that is the anniversary of your original post, itās the year anniversary where we became friends. So much more will come out of this turn of events. I am grateful. ššš
u/tweety51A you have shared such an important message. After reading your post, I am so grateful that your daughter and the others involved in the accident are alive. While it was a tragedy for sure, God's first blessing was survival.
The other thing that sticks out to me is how life comes at us hard and fast out of nowhere sometimes. The entire covid plandemic, vaxx bioweapon, and social fabric disruption was nothing I ever could have expected. At least, I couldn't expect to know the death and loss of loved ones due to these events, the way I feel them now having personal experiences like so many others.
The most important message you delivered, and reminded me of, is your expression of the most important form of Love.
I thought I knew what love was at a very young age. The first girl that made eyes at me? I loved her for sure. My first girlfriend? Oh, I loved her for sure. I told her all the time. When I found the one? Oh, I definitely knew what love was then. I got down on a knee for her! I even bought her a ring!
Yes, I knew what love was. I had it all figured out.
And then, it happened. We had our first child. We've been blessed with four.
It was at this precise moment that I found a whole new love I never new before.
What love was this?
UNCONDITIONAL Love.
I knew at the moment of my first child's birth that I would do anything and everything the rest of my life to love them no matter what. There would be absolutely NOTHING that could stop my love. My children could fail miserably and I would never stop loving them. They can succeed wildly and that will not make me love them more, I already love them completely, there is no more room for more love, the cup overflows already.
I never knew this love before children. I thought I knew what love was all my life. But when you have children, you gain a full and complete understanding of Unconditional Love.
You know who else has Unconditional Love for us?
The Lord does.
God loves us so much he gave his only son to die for us. Imagine giving up your child? He did this to guarantee eternal life for all of us who believe.
What's better than Uncondtional Love? Nothing, except one thing.
Eternal Unconditional Love.
Eternal Unconditional Love is the most powerful and longest lasting. It is the perfect love of all loves. This love comes naturally as a parent for our children, but we can CHOOSE to have this love with our loved ones as well. There is no other love so powerful.
Whether any of us chooses to share this Unconditional love to others is our choice. You clearly have this Unconditional Love for your daughter. God Bless You for this understanding and generosity.
For those without children, or for those who do not yet know Unconditional Love, please know that if you put your Faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he will relentlessly hunt you down with his love for you.
No matter what you've done, no matter what you do, there is nothing you can do to run or hide from the Lord's love for you. Whether you are lost or found, whether you have your act together or you are completely broken down, the Lord has you. He wants you. He is pursuing you. He will never give in, He will never give up. There is nothing you can do, good or bad, to stop the Lord from loving you. The Lord Our God holds the ultimate NCSWIC. If you choose to Believe, He is coming after YOU.
Luke 15: 4-7
And Jesus said...
What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, āRejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!ā I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
I hope every single person reading this comment pauses life to listen to this song. For those of faith, I hope it strengthens you. For those who are lost, I hope this message finds you. For those filled with hate, sadness, or anger, I hope it extinguishes your pain.
At some point in life, every one of us is the lost sheep.
Those 12 steps changed and shaped my life. My heartfelt prayers and love coming your way. 14 years now for me. Tell her to NEVER give up and never give in...GIVE EVERYTHING TO GOD and stay humble and grateful and life is so good because I'm sane. ššššā¤ā¤ā¤ā¤ā¤
I hope God continues to bless and those blessings help your family get past this. I am sure many more blessing for you and your family awaits. in Jesus name, Amen.
Prayer works and God is faithful. When the answer is "yes" we rejoice and sing praises to Him. Sometimes the answer is "no" and we wonder why but God sees the end from the beginning and we don't know what lies in the future for us. It could be a worse outcome! Thankfully yours was answered YES!
You have no idea how much this testimonial means to me as I am about to embark on my own adventure into sobriety at 57yo, first time since I was 18yo. I have made a plan for success. I hope to have some praying for me along the way, too. I am both scared and excited. Also very nervous. But above all, I have gathered my strength in God and will be praying mightily that His will be done.
I will add your family to my prayers. May God bless us all.
