I have a question friends. My 66 yo dad was diagnosed with diabetes and im curious if its curable. I dont trust medical.
š§ Research Wanted š¤
Some diabetes medications seem to do more harm than good. He is otherwise healthy. He did get 2 jabs and lost some weight after he stopped driking liquor. Os there anything he can do besides entering the medical world to treat/cure and getting on those scary meds? Thanks agead of time. I know this isnt the place but i yrust yall more than anywhere else. Thats crazy in and of itself š¤£
Yes,, type 2 diabetes is reversible with the proper human diet. Here is one video, but Dr. Ken Berry, and others have many. Basically a low or no carb diet. Oh, and all these regulatory health agencies are total BS.

Get off the carbohydrates hardcore. New life of high fat and protein natural foods; basically steak and salad.
My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. On ALL the drugs. We switched over to a ketogenic diet and that solved it. No more drugs. Iām not sure itās necessary to go fully Keto, but I do fully believe that it is completely curable through diet.
I am 63, was diagnosed last year with T2 and put on Metformin. I did some research, found Dr. Ken Berry on YT. In under 3 months I was able to reverse it and taken off the meds. I lost 48 pounds so far and still going strong. Stop eating all carbs and sugars. Research carefully everyone is different. Good luck.
I too have been diagnosed, stay away from the pharmacy medication. Watching your sugar and your carbs are the answer! I went from sugar in the 300's to 125 in just a month and also the other numbers from 13.8 to 8, still working out my diet, you just have to read labels. It is best to eat fresh vegetables and watch your fruit and what time to eat them! Never eat fruit in the evening! Berries are the best! Banans and oranges are a no ,no! Carrots are also bad! lots of water and really diet sugars are a no and frozen dinners and frozen vegetables too much sodium. It is hard to change but, it is worth it ! Stay away from bread and flour products !
A strict diet may cure his Type 2 diabetes. I am not a doctor, but my husband was on 5 diabetes medications (oral) because he refused insulin, and then had stage IV renal disease. By watching his potassium, cutting out carbs (except those in berries and vegetables, he lost 30# and got off the insulin they put him on. He only takes 5mg of glipizide and if he went back to cutting out pasta, bread and sweets entirely, which he reverted back to while maintaining his weight, he would be able to quit that one med. He isnāt willing to do it though. I am not a doctor, but diet plays a big part in all diseases. We never eat fast food anymore (not that we did before) and rarely eat out. Fast foods are high in bad fats, as are commercial eggs. Try to eat organic free range eggs and cut corn oils. Do NOT follow the food pyramid which advocates a great number of grain servings. In the U.S. GMO grains are the death of us. His A1C went from 6.8-7 to 4.5-5.0. Fasting blood sugar 90-135 when he was upper 200-350 before. Ideally your fasting blood sugar should be below 110, preferably 100. Usually when you have a fasting blood sugar of 151 or greater, you need insulin.
Explore using the herb Berberine. One of it's benefits (among others) is blood sugar control. https://www.theburningplatform.com/2023/02/22/well-being-berberine/#more-295032 and then https://www.healthydirections.com/articles/blood-sugar/what-is-berberine-research-and-benefits For sure, diet and exercise are important, also
Don't know if "cured" is the right word, but it can definitely be reversed through a rigid, disciplined regimen of proper diet, exercise, no alcohol and no smoking, and getting good sleep at night. There are also many natural supplements that can help, so do your due diligence and research the HELL out of the subject. Best of luck, fren.
I was diagnosed with it 6 years ago. Since I have a marrow deep distrust of the medical establishment, I dug deep to research it. I decided to try the Keto diet, and eliminate all carbohydrates from my diet. The first week or two can be rough. Anyway, I lost 40 pounds in 3 months, and my blood sugar levels went back to normal. So yes, it is easily reversible.
Either start of with a keto diet, or hardcore carnivore just meat, salt (pink/Himalayan) and water. Ive been strictly keto for about 5 months, and recently started beef only (carnivore) and the weight has flown off, 40lbs in that time and feel fitter, sleep better, more mobile and things like gum disease has gone!
You have a choice between a Carnivore diet that Dr. Ken Berry adheres to or a Ketogenic diet that Dr. Eric Berg advocates for, both on YouTube. Dive into their videos and see which direction is right for you. Either approach will curb your husbands Type 2 diabetes and it is not painful. Personally I like the carnivore diet because I'm a big meat eater. It's up to you and your husband to want to feel better, the method is out there and it is not too hard once you get past the sugar cravings. God bless.
Found this article a couple days ago.
https://www.naturalnews.com/2024-02-09-vitamin-k-helps-prevent-treat-diabetes-2.html
Vitamin K also regulates calcium in soft tissues and is responsible for getting it out of places like arteries and back into bone. One minor nitpick on the article above- most insulin production falls off because of sky high insulin levels required when cells in the body become insulin resistant. Diabetes manifests when the insulin resistance is high enough to damage the beta cells in the pancreas.
Thank you for sharing this.
Lots of good advice. I was diagnosed with corn, wheat, and soy allergies so I've had to follow a fairly strict diet. Everybody is different. I did keto and then reintroduced foods based on how I felt. I'm ok with the right fruit and vegetables but my primary source of calories is protein based. Ironically, European sourced wheat I'm totally fine with. Look into getting a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and then he can see exactly what is affecting him. Also take probiotics since his gut microbiome is probably trashed.
Converting to a keto or carnivore diet is the only way to make an impact without taking more insulin. Insulin resistance drives the disease. On a side note, keto causes pretty drastic weight loss. I switched over in November after a gall bladder attack to a keto diet and have lost 20 pounds in 10 weeks. Body aches are going away, glucose fasting dropped from 99 to 80 even before I lost very many pounds. It took about 7 weeks or so for my energy levels to return at the gym as my body was used to burning sugars and not fats. I am not diabetic, but I've seen several friends who are diabetic who were either able to curtail or eliminate their dependence on insulin.
I'm 72, I've had diabetes since I was 58. Soda did it to me, 6 a day, 32 grams of sugar in EACH can. I was educated about this AFTER my diagnosis. Of course
I stopped eating anything with sugar, went on a diet, lost 80 lbs. But for me, (EVERYONE is different, no truer words) I was too far gone for that to bring me back to normal. I am on only 2 drugs for this, insulin, Lantus time release pen, one shot a day. Ozempic pen, one shot a week.
I started Ozempic when it first came out. My insulin went from 44 units a day to 10 units a day, so it has worked great for me.
(Side note... Yes, I lost 14 lbs when I started Ozempic, better still I lost my desire to snake on something crunchy! *After about a year both of those benefits were gone, but it still works for insulin reduction.)
There have been type 1 reversals, albeit rare. Chloride dioxide, diet and anti-parasite drugs may be of help. Type 2, simple dietary changes. Type 1 - the pancreas doesn't make enough insulin, type 2 is metabolic, the body no longer is sensitive to insulin so the insulin levels in the blood rise and so does blood sugar. Both cause complications.
Diabetes that is newly diagnosed is curable through proper nutrition. '
Any suggestions if you also have heart issues? My dad is Type 2 and also has some cholesterol and artery issues. His heart doc says less red meat and his sugar doc says more red meat. Completely contradictory.
I think he needs to ignore the heart guy and eat meat, dairy and eggs more. But I am nervous that will cause his heart to have more issues.
Thoughts?
This is a great question i wish this post could get seen again. The contradictory information on shit like this is insane. Its almost like its this way intentionally
Feels that way.
My friend reversed his type 2 by going keto. No sugar. And no chem filled diet drinks!!! You want sweetness use stevia. No sucralose or dextrose, you get the stevia with erythritol. No fake butter. Lots of meat, butter, eggs. Bacon. Cottage cheese. Other cheese just not a whole block of it at once. Lol.You can get cream and drink a little if you feel you'll die without milk. Cream has less sugars. It's not fats to be scared of it's bread carbs and pasta and potato carbs to avoid. Drink alot of water but put little pinch of real sea salt in the water. Sea salt is your friend. Friend's weight went down and so did his blood sugar.
this is fairly recent. this is what i know. my dad is very stubborn so bear with me here. He was thinking he was having uti and hadnt been to a dr in 30 years before the 2 jabs well the pain wasnt going away so he went to urgent care and they did a urine sample and found out he has glucose in his urine that is causing him some type of pain and his blood sugar was 200. since then he watched 2 netflix shows and is basically trying to figure out all of this on his own and still putting off making a primary care appt. so ive conviced him i think to at least get a monitor so we can go from there. im gonna assume its type 2 because his parents both had it, but metformin did some really nasty things to his mother, so i understand him being scared. to be honest im a little exasperated.
im worried hes gonna try to manage this himself with extremely limited answers, so if possible i would like to know how to best help nudge him along. sorry this is also me slightly venting. i care about my dad a whole fing lot as im sure yall understand. i know this isnt much to go on so thanks for replying guys, seriously. i dont know what to trust anymore in an area like this because i dont trust medical much anymore, and ive been witness to what metformin can do, and so has he
There is some good advice above. Transitioning to a keto / carnivore diet will help immensely. Some people even need to fast to Kickstart the weight loss. Which will really help get the insulin resistance under control. Some light and steady exercise will also help the body lose some insulin resistance. People that lose excess weight are much more likely to have lower insulin resistance, thus helping a person keep from taxing their pancreas too much. Dr. Edberg and Dr. Berg on YouTube are fantactic resources. The real benefit to a low carb diet is that eventually you lose the craving for bad foods! And hunger pangs seem to be much more manageable. That is because the body recognizes its fat stores as fuel and doesn't compel you to eat so urgently.
Depends on how high your sugar is mine jumped to over 500 in short period of time Pancreas acted up after COVID Iām now starting to reduce my medicines
Yeah eat healthy. Anyone with diabetes can get rid of it by eating the proper food and staying away from the processed garbage and pop etc.
Diet exercise rest. Examine and Adjust as needed.
Carnivor diet! (For type 2)
Type 2? Yes. Type 1? Only with a transplant, and even then for only like ten years.
No. Diabetes is not curable at this time. You can reverse the effects to a point, but it will always be there. It is a progressive disease, and it will continue to progress no matter what you do. However, by diet and exercise (and in some cases medication) you can slow the progression down enough to live a long and hopefully happy life.
NOT treating type 2 diabetes can lead to Type 1 diabetes and a lifelong dependency on insulin.
I have been dealing with type 2 diabetes for over twenty years now.
One thing I would like to ask is what method did they use to determine he was diabetic?
Not treating type 2 diabetes doesn't cause type 1, it just gets treated like type 1.
I didn't say cause. I said it can lead to type one. Once the beta cells of the pancreas are destroyed, the body can no longer produce insulin, which is basically what type 1 diabetes is.
The islet cells in the pancreas are rendered useless by an autoimmune cause in type 1. Type 2 diabetics still produce insulin but the body develops an inability to utilize the insulin. Type 1 diabetics can actually acquire insulin resistance like type 2, but I have never heard of a type 2 diabetic becoming type 1 unless they were misdiagnosed.
Stop all carbs immediately. Your body makes what it needs. Type 2 arrested in 30 days off carbs from what I've researched.
