Just imagine if there was no 22nd Amendment. We’d still have Obama now due to the obvious voter fraud. I’m not sure about totally removing it. But it could be Amended to allow another term if a person doesn’t have two consecutive terms, or if fraud was indeed found to have kept them from running consecutive terms. I’d be open to it being amended in this way not that a precedent will be set for it, once all 2020 investigations are complete.
1:15pm Edit: I’d certainly support adding ALL, and I mean ALL Local, County, State, and Federal Elected Officials are also held to 2-3 terms MAX period. I’d also love to see Federal bureaucratic Directors, and Managers be held to some sort of similar standard on how long they can hold head office positions. Or give President Cabinet Secretaries the power to put their own people in those positions while their candidate/s are in executive office.
Id like to see President be one 10 year term with the means of removing the incompetent through some mechanism of no confidence. I think perhaps a vote of no confidence from 60 Senators (after the 17th Amendment is removed) could send it to a national referendum with the People having the final say. Popular? Electoral? That would have to be debated.
If this was done there would also have to be a maximum age you could begin a presidential run at. Couldnt have an 80 year old beginning a 10 year term.
I think it can be established that the 2020 election was fraudulent. Therefore, the entire period of Joe Biden should be erased, all orders by him eliminated, etc. It can also be established that Trump's first term was hindered by deep state criminals conspiring behind his back, slow walking legislation, purposely giving him erroneous information (think Covid 19 and jab) that he should be allowed a total of 6 more years as President, 2 years from his first term and a full second term of 4 years. I think that would be a fair way of dealing with it. Also, he should be re-imbursed for all legal fees and for his time testifying and being deposed, etc.
Keep in mind that it takes a very long time, and an arduous procedure, to amend the Constitution. As it should be, otherwise we would have amendments every 6 months. An amendment has to be passed when 2/3's of Congress or the States propose an amendment, and then it takes 3/4's of the States to ratify that amendment before it can be added to the Constitution. The Founders made it that way to avoid frivolous and hasty amendments to what they (and I) considered a nearly perfect document.
So by the end of Trump's next term, 2028, such an amendment might still not have made it through the amending process.
Good point, but there could be momentum to amend the Constitution to repeal the 22nd. But the same rules will likely apply to Donald Trump which would prohibit a third term, but he would be the last President subject to term limits. Meanwhile Harry Truman was allowed to run for a third term, if he wished because the amendment was only ratified during his 2nd term.
No politicians should get a third term. We have 300 + million legal Americans, there is enough good ones to go forever and if you get a bad one, its only max two terms each. I vote no third terms for anyone,
I've been waiting for someone else to bring this up. It is our right under the original documents to revise the rules as we see fit. I am all for it.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to elected leaders.
If it is broke, fix it or replace it applies too. The key is to recognize which is which.
I agree with what has been espoused here in these replies...HOWEVER, BEFORE President Trump takes OFFICE on 6 Jan...the ENTIRE US GOVERNMENT MUST BE CLEANED OUT--- LIKE SPIC & SPAN CLEAN.
On the first day in office, that will provide the direction in which he will go...and I am quite sure that the laundry list he has is quite lengthy...
HIS #1 job is to re-align the government so that the people have a say so, bottom-up instead of top-down. Any agency that has failed it's fiduciary duty or abused US Citizens (FBI/CIA)...CUT IT OFF AT THE ANKLES!!!!!
Just some random thoughts that I have been thinking for awhile...Good Points though by everyone!!!
Trump is great. But absolute power is corrupting to anyone. I dont think its a good idea at all to do something like that. There will be plenty of non corrupt people as america enters its next golden age and trump is celebrated for saving the country. I know we joke about geotus but its just sinply not a good idea to give him unlimited power for a multitude of reasons.
It might be a good thing for Trump to have as many terms as he can stand, I'm just worried about his age. We all know some older folks never have physical and mental decline, so I hope Trump can evaluate himself and make a prudent and realistic decision to NOT run if his health is in decline....for his third or fourth term.
Two things. 1. Vivek is foreign born, but he can be a governor in New York. 2. I rather there be a primary in 2028 and a new leader emerges from that race.
US Independent until IRS/Fed Reserve and DC were set up. After that it is another and different country. If we go back to a post slave era it will be a different country resembling something closer to what we were before the slave traders took power.
Slave traders == Central bank/IRS.
So, 3 wins from FED RESERVE USA, 1 win in 2028 from FREE USA.
Instead of repealing the amendment limiting a man from serving two terms, they should pass an amendment limiting the number of terms of members of Congress AND set up a IG review board that examines how federal judges conduct themselves with an annual report on each judge and magistrate. Those whose actions clearly violate the Constitution or a judicial code of conduct can be removed by a majority vote of the House.
Assuming he's elected in 2024 (and I believe he will be), the man deserves some sort of leisure in his later years. He'll have four years during his next term to help find and groom the next president.
Do not repeal that. It is there for a purpose. We need age limits and term limits on all of them. I would say whoever Trump picks as VP would be the one to vote for.

Just a thought. A lot to debate there.

That would also erase everything Congress has done from 2021 to the present.
And once people find out about what Obama really did in office and who he really is…. His legacy should be erased too

If we return to the 1779 constitution, there is NO 22nd Amendment.

No. It needs to be expanded for members of congress.
I think they might allow him to run again because of previous election interference. Nothing like it has ever been exposed before.

Even I can admit that in 2028 he'd be too old for another 4 years.

This will be his first term under the Constitution from what I understand.
DJT 2028 and 2032
Eric 2036 and 2040
Vivek (after GEOTUS "educates" him) 2044 and 2048
Barron 2052 and 2056
Let's have 30 years of real leaders!
Two things. 1. Vivek is foreign born, but he can be a governor in New York. 2. I rather there be a primary in 2028 and a new leader emerges from that race.
It won't be the same country so he can run.

The problem is that we already have that process. It is called impeachment.
The Constitution says we don’t have to impeach judges to remove them. They are only there for a time of “good behavior”.
He is the last President. He will transition us into AI. That's why elections will be secure from here on.
Assuming he's elected in 2024 (and I believe he will be), the man deserves some sort of leisure in his later years. He'll have four years during his next term to help find and groom the next president.

I think I will wait and see who floats to the top, like cream. First the sorting, then the harvest.
It could be anyone. Recently Mike Rowe has gone on record saying that politics is the ultimate dirty job.
