Prayers Needed Hurricane Beryl
π§Mental/Physical Health ππΌββοΈ
FRENS~! First off, I Miss being on here~!~!
Second, I need prayers for the people that are still without power, water and food. I have been able to hook up to my truck with two extension cords and hook up my refrigerator and fan. I am able to get on the internet when I unplug the fan.
The Electric companies have said that it will be a week or two before we will get our electricity turned back on. I am not sure about water. The gas stations are running out of gas and some out of food.
Please pray for those that are without.
Thank you, Kingslea, Fren, Frog
Dear Lord, please protect those who are without shelter, electricity, gas, food, & water because of the hurricane. Send the people & resources they need to recover. Build community among the neighbors that they come out of this more connected than before. Strengthen everyone with your presence, draw them to your promise of salvation through Christ Jesus, & fill them with your Spirit, love, & peace. Thank you for those who are working to restore power & those who are bringing assistance. Block the scammers & looters, help each family with whatever needs they have. I ask this in Jesus' Mighty name. Amen.
I join you in this prayer. Amen
Amen
Amen!
Add my prayers to this also
Amen
Amen.
My situation is not as dire..but prayers needed as well. Power has been out and we have been awake 24 hours
ππ
I'm over 200 miles north of Houston and even we had power outages. Mine lasted 6 hours and we didn't get near the wind they got in Houston and on the coast. I didn't lose any trees or large branches this time either. We got lucky.
The windstorm we had a few weeks ago toppled 2 of my trees (one blocked the road), snapped large branches, and I still can't effectively mow because I'm not finished raking up all the sticks. There are also still huge trees that are down in my neighborhood that haven't been cut and hauled away because they will require heavy equipment.
Prayers and hugs ax! ππ
Praying for all those in need during this storm. God provides.π
Very much so.
Lord, please help the poor people who have suffered the devastation of Hurricane Beryl to recover quickly. Give them strength and energy to heal and spare them from affliction. Amen.
Amen.
I'm here with you in prayer and in the area! Galveston county. We are without power and hearing the same message from centerpoint energy. Hoping my gas company doesn't run out of propane though. I have about 7 days of generator power on a full tank. Day 2 of 7 complete!
I will drive some to you if you need!
I'd try to get refilled now if possible. EVERYONE will be wanting the same thing.
Yeah, I'm going to call and schedule ahead since I just checked and its still quite full. But great idea
Be safe πI don't know if you have any type of fresh water close to where you are - river, creek, lake - but we were stranded where we lived when Katrina hit, so the first several days before we could get out, we'd go to the river everyday to wash out clothes, bathe and clean dishes. Still used those anti bacterial wipes after the dishes dried then a lil bottled water to rinse that off. It was helpful being able to rinse off the sweat and sticky and cool down every day.
710ft well! I live in the rural area with no city services available. We are only dependent on the electric company to keep going. With a generator as backup specifically for the current situation. Alicia and Ike convinced me to get the generac!
Yep! We having one installed this week. π₯°
Thank goodness for our generac! Best thing ever!
I thought about getting one of those, but if things got really bad, I figure I don't want to be the only guy on the block with a house all lit up, and a noisy generator running that can be heard for 1/4 mile. I have two little 6000 Kva generators, each of which will run all my 110 outlets for as long as I have gas to put in them. I have it rigged to plug into dryer outlet to supply distribution panel.
I want to get a battery solar generator to run at night, if things get really bad so know one will be able to tell I have power. I also have been putting down a shallow well that I intend to put a pitcher pump on it for emergency water. I do have a well, and not city water, so would only need if I ran out of generator fuel to run well pump.
I just got the second generator for free. A guy down the street bought it. Ran it one time, and didn't run the gas out of carb when done, so it clogged up the carb. I just took the carb off, cleaned the needle valve and bowl, put it back together and it cranked on first pull.
Funny, this neighbor bought another brand new generator, did same thing with it. It's sitting out in his yard, and has only ran once. Then he bought another third generator and by this time, learned to turn gas off and let if run out before storing it for season.
One of these days I'm gonna bite the bullet and get solar with 2 or 3 Tesla Powerwalls. Our power sucks - brownouts, blackouts, and the power seems dirty. I work from home and have 3 UPSs to save my servers and storage, and I hear them click on several times every day to protect my systems from bad power. I lost a NAS a couple of years ago because the power flickered on and off 6 times quickly as the power company was restoring service. Cost me over $2500.
The powerwalls will keep the power inside clean and I won't have to worry about propane if I had a generac. I wish they were cheaper though. If you haven't seen or heard of them: https://www.tesla.com/powerwall
I know! Hubby wants one!
Yeah, we got an automated phone call telling us that we will be several days without power.
Many in Texas emptied out their fridges and started using their outdoor grills to cook their food and share with neighbors...ππ
That's the ticket!!! We did that after Katrina. Local dollar store gave out all its refrigerated/frozen food (free) to pass out to the community. I lived in a very rural area of Louisiana at the time.
You are so right Shalimar! This is the way! God bless the dollar store! π
fellow Texan (Lubbock) praying for you fren
So many frogs live in Texas! π
Praying for relief and quick hookup of your utilities, fren.
Praying Kingslea! We are on the Texas Coast and thankfully ok, but many family and friends are without power, etc.
Praying for Texans! π
We survived the floods of Hurricane Florence here in the Coastal Plains of SE NC in 2018.
It took a year to rebuild our home. We were rescued by boat and ended up in a shelter at a Baptist Church for three days with our four cats and a dog. We stayed in multiple hotels and other places until we could find an apartment to rent for a year.
We were smart enough to move both our cars to higher ground right before we were hit with river flooding. (3 days after the Flo rolled through). We couldnβt leave our home due to all the trees down and inland flooding blocked our exit to the north .
I know the stress youβre going through with no food or water or electricity. It sounds as if your home is still intact. Be thankful for that. When we left to get our cars I was thankful we still had those wheels. Many of our neighbors had lost both their homes and cars.
Fren stay safe. Hoping you will get power on sooner than later. My prayers going out for you and all those affected by.Hurricane Beryl.
It's true swimkin...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but its rough. So thankful you and your fur babies were rescued!!
Only drink bottled water unless you can boil it. I'm sending prayers - lived thru eye of Katrina - aftermath was dreadful!!! I hate no AC lol - can deal with the rest.
Father, we ask that you rapidly send assistance, electricity, gasoline, medical aid, clean water, and good food to those who have been affected by Hurricane Beryl. We ask that you send aid by those who have good will. We ask that there be federal and government assistance asap, and that those who go to assist have the best of intentions for the people. We ask that anyone who has medical needs get treated rapidly, and that rescue is given to anyone who is in harm's way. We ask that neighbors be friendly and kind to each other, and that the area and communities affected by this recover rapidly and are strengthened through this hardship through love and good will to each other. We ask that your good will be done here on Earth as it is in Heaven. I pray the protection over all who are your servants, God, and I know you will provide, even when it seems very dark and desolate. Thank you, Father, for taking good care of the people there. In your Son's holy name, Yeshua, I all ask this. Amen.
Stay safe, and make sure you stay out of the sun as much as possible. If you are in or near Houston it's gonna be hot and humid. I know when that winter storm hit I spent a fair amount of time in my car with the heater on whenever I ran out of firewood. Fortunately when my wife sent out a message to the neighborhood fakebook group asking to buy firewood several people just started dropping logs off in our driveway. However - it is easier to get warm than to get cool.
I will pray for you and all the rest of us Texans that are going through all sorts of related problems (flooding, heat, shelter, food - hurricanes don't discriminate).
I will add you to my prayer list.
God Bless you folks out there.
Agreed.
Take care.
Praying for you, your family, friends and others affected by Beryl. I kind of know what you're going through. A couple of yrs. ago, we had to run our generator for 3 months following Hurricane Ida because it took that long for the electric company to get things repaired. Now is not the time but after things settle, maybe you could set up a hurricane closet. We keep one stocked every year with batteries, water, and non perishable food, just in case.
Hopefully it doesn't take that long! Having been in many power outages over the years, they are always awful. It's never during a time where the weather is anything less than brutal up here too, and the costs associated with it by people is just not good.
Prayers up π
I have family and friends there. I join you in prayer. We serve an amazing God may his protection and blessing be upon them. π π Amen
Prayers on the way fren.
You don't need to run the fridge full time I bet. If you want to save gas.
Lifting you up in prayer, Fren!
If your generator has enough Kva to drive most 110 circuits in home, get a dryer outlet three prong plug. Cut the end off of your generator 220 line and wire in the dryer plug. Then cut off all circuit breakers. Plug the newly wired core into the dryer outlet, and the other end into 208 twist lock port on generator. Crank up the generator, and flip on the breaker that controls the dryer plug. This breaker will now be your main breaker to the distribution panel, that when engaged will supply 208/220 v power to breaker box. Next flip on only 110 breakers that you want to run, that generator can handle.
This is the way to supply power to you distribution panel so you can run all your 110 stuff at same time, or as you choice.
Probably need to turn off main breaker on power panel to prevent back feed which could harm power workers on others down line.
Yup, technically All Breakers includes main breaker, but I should have specified that just in case not known.
Hour 53 for me with out power . Had work crew here yesterday but not seen them today. Out of gas and not sure any places around me have some. Hopefully I can get out and find some later today.
Prayers fren. Stay safe.
Have been in more than a few power outage situations. All but one, as an adult, I have been lucky enough to have a generator, and as I instructed in other comment, knew how to wire it to main power distribution panel.
The one time I lost power for five days, I did not have generator. Stove was natural gas so I could cook, and was on city water so did not lose water. It was winter in North Florida, but I had large fireplace.
For the first couple days, we thought it was really nice. We found it romantic to live like our ancestors did before electricity. But after that wore off, it sucked. I was so glad when we finally got power back, and could create some hot water for shower.
I have a video where I interviewed my parents about their lives. They both tell that neither of them had electricity, or indoor plumbing growing up. There was no power in the city at all. My mom said that they would put a big tub in front of the fireplace, and all the girls would take a tub.
