Stopped taking statins 2 months ago because of side effects, following the above routine, and feel much better.

My brother had an MI last fall. One stent. He had a high lipid panel and has for a long time. He hated the statins b/c of the side effects. He pivoted hard in his diet and lost 30 lbs. His lipids are all now normal.

Nonetheless, they still keep pushing it under the guise of "protocol." He has challenged them on it and has held firm. Proud of him.

Do you think brands matter? See some of the vitamins C ones, lots of brands I’m unfamiliar with. Think it matters?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– JohnTitor17 4 points 1 year ago +4 / -0

There's no specific brand I recommend per se. The type of vitamin C is debatable but I would not use buffered or slow release vitamin C. Try to avoid anything from Chyna.

Liposomal vitamin C might be the best as others have pointed out.

Please read the post linked above for specific instructions because different foods compete with vitamin C and lysine respectively.
Without the competition, your blood level of these supplements spikes dramatically and magic happens.

Ty much. I did copy the info as well as your post linked above for more detail. Awesome stuff your doing. We appreciate it.

I fast and won't eat at all for most of the day. Can you take the vit c and the lysine at the same time if you're not going to eat for a while? Or do they have to be separate?

The truth is that I don't know.
But if you look at the linked GAW post above, I list the exact protocol that worked for my father-in-law 2 separate times, 3 years apart.

Two separate heart stent procedures canceled literally in the middle of the procedure when they could not find any blockages even though they saw near-total blockages on scans just weeks prior. His blood pressure, ejection fraction, and ability to exercise all returned to normal.

If your life depends on it, I would do it the only way I can personally attest works.

John, do you think this will help lower my blood pressure also?

I need to do this. I am currently on 80 mg of Atorvastin daily (highest dosage) mostly bc my LDL was off the charts without it. Even on this highest dosage my LDLs are still slightly above normal.

I actually have a lot of good cholesterol in spite of the higher LDL (bad stuff) And my Triglycerides have been normal. Just have really high LDL’s.

I want to go off these statins. They are causing me to have a lot of joint pains. I’ve been wanting to tell my doctor next month I’m going off them. So I will be trying out your protocol.

Where do you get your Lysine from? Does it matter?

I already buy my Liposomal Vitamin C from Dr Mercola’s website. Been taking 2000 mg of that daily. That may be why my HDL’s are high.

If you choose to continue to take the Atorvastatin, you may want to add CoQ10 to relieve the aches.

Thanks for the tip but I’m already on Ubiquinal (coQ10 made easier to absorb)

Yep Qunol is the better absorbed brand formulation. Ubiquinol is the supplement name, just commonly called coq10.

“Getting your cholesterol down” should not ever be a goal.

Cholesterol will go to an area of damaged (by crappy diet) arteries hence, higher cholesterol. It is a sign to change your diet NOT stop the body from trying to help.

Once the damage has been going long enough the arteries do clog. The protocol will save your life short term but probably NOT fix your arteries unless you change your diet.

This is like blaming firemen for a fire because there are firemen everytime there is a fire.

Don’t get rid of the firemen. Figure out what caused the fire.

I think statins do something to the pre-frontal cortex. Those folks won't see it if you draw them a picture.

Cholesterol is needed for brain function.

Blocking cholesterol causes brain issues.

My Dad is on them and while still young I swear it has negatively impacted his memory. He forgets things constantly now and we have zero dementia in our lineage.

Both of my parents took statins. Both ended up with dementia. Is it related? You be the judge.

You may want to investigate coconut oil for dementia. I've read that it helps with the brain fog caused by statins.

I read that if you stop taking statins, it might stop the memory loss, because it's a side effect of the drug. Can't remember where I read that though.

Went Keto [3 years now] and dropped 30 lbs, lost brain fog, and felt 20 years younger. Got blood test cholesterol 387 - doctor freaked out- started talking statins etc- long story short had a coronary CT Scan and everything clear. There are good videos out there Dr Mason low carb down under is a good source for people who don't like to read ;)

Last time I went to the doctor was last yr (first time seeing doc in like 3 yrs before that) only because I needed a new prescription of bp med and I was going out of town & needed a refill, but she wouldn't give me one without coming in to see her and taking blood panel. Well, everything was normal except they acted like my cholesterol was super high, which it wasn't. Said both combined was "almost" 300 and that I needed to get on statins right away. My LDL was "high" by about 82 mg/dl and my HDL was low 60's. Of course, never went back for anything, I'm not going on statins. They can kiss my grits!

I watched a video awhile back with 2 doctors saying that high cholesterol isn't a bad thing, matter of fact they both looked healthy (not overweight) and they both said their LDL was well over 200.

I know I need to get off my bp med, it's the only prescription I'm on, can't seem to lower bp without it yet. I'm trying to lower it with beetroot & cinnamon (along with my bp med) and it helps some but not enough to get off the bp med. I'm going by the old bp numbers of 140/90. As a matter of fact, I watch a video by one doctor that said when he went into medicine it was 150/90.

I threw away mine and my husband's statins months ago. And we've both told our doctors we're not interested in going back on them. I've noticed a huge improvement in the brain fog I was experiencing.

Here it is in a nutshell: Never take statins, cholesterol comprises part of almost every cell in your body; if you don't eat cholesterol, your body will make more of it; women, as they age, should expect higher levels of cholesterol; don't worry about cholesterol; high triglyceride levels are produced by SUGAR consumption. Eat less sugar.

This is a good one. My parents have allegedly had high cholesterol for decades. Been on meds for it. Assuming it’s a statin.

Dad died a few years ago as a result of bad protocol and Alzheimer’s/dementia.

Side effect of statins? Alzheimer’s/dementia

Fucking medical industrial complex.

Sorry for your loss Henry. I quit my 10 mg of statins 18 months ago and felt less achy. I started the Vitamin C and Lysine about 2 months ago and 95% of all my chest tightness is gone when I exert myself.

My Aunt is skinny as a rail, 78 years old and has Alzheimer's. I've tried to inform my cousin how to help treat her mom but as a Nurses Aid, she's convinced that she's already an expert and knows everything.

I've been on a low dose statin for years. A lot of bad side effects from the first one I was on and no side effects on the second. 3 years ago I still wound up with 2 stents for a blocked right coronal artery. MAde some major diet changes and dropped 35 pounds to the point I'm bordering skinny. All my cholesterol values are normal as of last 2 years (and the weight loss). I cut back on cheese, cured meats, red meats, and butter. I've since started adding them back with no change to my cholesterol values. So now I stopped the statins as of 2 months ago and started taking nattokinase and read rice yeast and am going to get a blood test next month. What I don't know is my cardiologist said the statins act as a lube for the stents - preventing plaque from building up. I need to find out if taking them for that reason is important, or just keeping the bad cholesterol down is more important. We shall see...

Good luck with finding a path to good health. I'm convinced we've been lied to about cause and effect by most of the health care industry to push toxic prescription drugs.

When ever you go to see a doctor if you are older most of them are required by the hospital they use for their patients to ask if you would consider a statin. It is a Medicare rule they must follow, and the hospitals enforce it on the doctors.

I have always said no, and let my doc know exactly what I thought about them. My last visit after the mandated question, and the firm no. The doc told me there had been studies done that showed taking 4000 mg of fish oil had proven just as effective at reducing cholesterol as a statin, and not liver damage.

I had already been taking 2000 mg, and adding a couple more a day was no issue although I doubt I needed it since I have never had high cholesterol.
