I hope all the voters in NC are paying attention. Probably not.
The areas most affected are still lacking power and phone service. The White House doesn't care about WNC other than maybe Asheville, because other than Asheville (leftist stronghold), we were never going to vote for Kameltoe Harris anyway. Besides, what's the harm in sacrificing one minor city (Asheville) when they can do nothing and leave most of the country folk who would be voting for Trump high and dry? They still have Charlotte and Raleigh they can count on.
We're still waiting to see what the Catawba does. More run off coming. RAL unaffected.

I'm old enough to remember how much they played up Katrina. Used it to politically attack repubs and Bush at the time. When it can't be used for political gain they do not care. When will people learn
I'm about 125 miles NE of Ashville and we got NOTHING compared to that, I can't believe what I'm seeing because we only got about 1" of rain from the storm here in Pilot Mountain.
I just saw an X post by In2ThinAir about a huge lithium deposit that sits below Asheville. I guess we now know why they used this storm to target that area. Kind of like Lahaina, to buy up all of the properties after the people are dead and property completely destroyed.

There's no way Helene wasn't geo-engineered. Damn near the whole FL Gulf Coast is wrecked, Southern GA is wrecked, and this storm caused massive flooding in NC and parts of TN, too??!! All while 5G GWEN towers were lighting up the S.E. U.S. like a birthday cake?
The real conspiracy is them calling it a "tropical storm", when it got here, when it was a CAT 2, at least.

I was watching this storm closely all night, because the eye was "predicted" to head right over my house (north of Atlanta), with wind gusts 60+ mph. We have 100 foot trees all around my house so I was terrified. The NHC and all weather stations that listen to them kept showing the eye and cone of uncertainty going up towards Atlanta. When Helene hit Valdosta, she was already outside the cone, but the NHC didn't update anything. While the eastern side of a hurricane is always worse, places like Augusta (150 miles from me) were supposed to only get some milder wind gusts. Same with SC. At 5 am, when the storm was supposed to be on top of us, we didn't even have a breeze (just rain), and Augusta was getting hit with the eye. Still, the NHC stubbornly clung to their modeling that it was going to now make a sharp west turn and still hit Atlanta. Augusta was totally unprepared. SC too. NC wasn't expecting as direct of a hit as they got. Greenville NWS was the only one trying to tell everyone what was coming. All the other hurricane models apparently showed the storm hitting further east, but the NHC ignored all these other models' data and kept pushing their inaccurate one, even well after the storm was clearly on another path. NC/TN was expecting rain and some winds, but nothing like what they got. Mount Mitchell registered 106 mph gusts. It was so much worse than it was predicted to be. Add in to that the 2 days of rain in W NC and it was a recipe for disaster. I know hurricane prediction can be iffy, and it would have been bad even if people knew what was coming, but this seemed almost purposeful by the NHC to keep people from being adequately warned and prepared.
Those 2 are the most worthless POS s!! This is disgusting that they won't do anything. Now watch. Trump will go there to help. Then those guys will later show up and pretend to care.

The affected NC mountain areas got between 10 and 30 inches of rain. Add in the funneling effect of mountains and valleys - no need for a dam to burst.
I've been thinking a lot lately about how blessed my wife and I are. We live in central NC, and everything I have to complain about is petty when compared to what everyone in western NC is dealing with.

What's worse, there is another disturbance forming in the Gulf that will likely follow the same path as Helene. Predictions are it would make landfall next weekend.
