As an adopted person myself ( my sister, middle child is adopted too ), most of us grow up believing that the people who had you, wanted you to have a good life even though they knew they couldn't care for you. They could have made another choice.
You get adopted ( both of us at birth, almost 5 years apart, we're not related otherwise ) by a really good family who gives you all the things you need to be successful in life and that's that.
It isn't until you get to junior high ( middle school ) and high school that you start learning that you and your sister, while not rare by any means, were two of the lucky ones. You find out that fates like this, happen to adopted kids every day ; some people adopt kids specifically so they can abuse them.
Absolutely hits home a little more, for me, when I hear pieces of shit abusing / hurting adopted children.
God bless your parents, you and your sister. Thank you, God, for not letting them experience hell.
