I'm a laissez faire libertarian, so for me personally i think working for the government is always a waste of talent. Governments don't produce anything they just take away. People are quick to cheer because everyone that 19 year old interviews probably needs to be fired anyway. I don't know the exact situation, but if I wanted to eliminate an entire division of people, like the entire department of education, why not hire a 19 yr old to do the interview and just tell him to fire everyone. I have no illusions; mistakes will be made in this process. Advantages will be taken. Good people will be hurt. Bad people will profit. I think in the short term it will hurt the economy. But it's still a huge net win for America and the middle class. I've worked in government. They are mostly worthless. It's the most inefficient system ever created. Maybe 5% of the employees even care about their responsibilities. Most of the responsibilities shouldn't even exist. The system rewards failure with more money. It rewards incompetence and breeds corruption and graft. Good riddance to most of it even if some good people lost their jobs. You can't reform a system without collateral damage.
