Hey Canada! Do you see how easy it is to stop the tarrifs? All you have to do is put 10,000 Mounties on the boarder and stop the flow of drugs and dregs.
In the case of Canada it's not the border itself which is way too wild and big to really protect, it's that they let these people fly in with no visa and disappear. They need to stop them at the airports and turn them around.
And I guarantee you U.S. military will track how the cartel responds. Good intel for when they take out the mexican cartel in the future.

This is not the deal I wanted to see, but hopefully it gets there soon (or it has been reached but is being kept quiet).
I don't care about Mexican soldiers on the border for this. They are likely to just be window dressing. They will still be afraid and/or beholden to the cartels.
I want a deal made that allows our special forces and some air support to go in and wipe out all of the cartels. Unless and until that happens, the tariffs should stay - and go up. I hope they are just keeping it secret until the action starts.
Perhaps the Mexican soldiers were only in our way for taking out the cartels ourselves. Keep them busy at the border while we do the dirty work.
You could be right. I imagine their President and our President don't want a bunch of Mexican soldiers killed by US soldiers. That would cause a huge shitstorm with civilians in both countries. The cartels bribe/threaten/employ govt officials, police, and military for various reasons so it is absolutely possible.
Our special forces would be head and shoulders above anything Mexico could field. I bet Mexico would like to be rid of the cartels as much as we would. Prolly why their president decided to play ball. It benefits both sides.
