Most Christians are in full on faith mode and cognitive dissonance along with catholics. Just look at this site and threads created and responses. Its the motivation behind the Vaticans opposition to birth control in general. Kind of hard to separate Vatican agenda from actual Church, but just looking at what they stand on versus the Bible gives a good idea of what morality vs corruption has been up to.
One thing I have changed my mind on in my old age is that this might actually be one thing the Catholic Church was correct on. Maybe not so far as to say it's a sin, but it should be discouraged. Europe and North America would be stronger today if protestants didn't use so much birth control.

I’ve been to Rome and the Vatican. It’s stunning how everything is overlayed with gold. Then we went to Greece where there’s still a heavy Catholic influence. Everything there is overlayed with lead. IMO, the gold look at the Vatican flies in the face of the humble god fearing Christian. I don’t think the 12 disciples would approve.

Learning what I have over the past 4 years, it's important to somehow preserve history for future generations. I'm not sure how well lead or gold would hold up over "civil unrest" periods to teach future generations about true history when the peasants finally get fed up and bad things happen. Apparently granite statues and other "hard to get rid of" items have their place in displaying history for everyone to see.

I came across a comment on the web that stated that after Jesus was crucified and rose, the priests/"upper management responsible" couldn't kill off enough Christians quick enough to keep it from spreading. So they of course co-opted it, and moved themselves up into the positions of power and went from there. Lets face it, you can take about any large entity, whether a spin-off religion like Lutheran, Islam (?), Protestant or similar, or even a home-grown company that went past the original owners into corporation, and see the same pattern of takeover.
Long and short of it, the "power hungry-don't give an F about their fellow man" types seem to congregate and work together to eventually turn anything into a monster. As soon as they start twisting the truth, it appears to go downhill from there.

After the 1st century Jews killed Christ, they protested the early Christian Church's use of the the Apocrypha. 77 years after they killed Christ, the Jewish scholars at Jabneh (c. A.D. 90) decided that they would no longer accept the Apocrypha as part of the divinely inspired Jewish canon. How convinient! 🤣
So question is very simple: why do protestants side with the people who killed Christ vs. the early church who followed him?

The number of denominations is a feature, not a bug. It's like blockchain of faith... Decentralized worship. And we are free to study and accept the Apocrypha if we believe them to be true. Nobody rules over the protestant denominations, so we can use our God given brains and the Holy Spirit to figure things out for ourselves.
When talking about “the Jewish scholars at Jabneh”, most of the early Christians both were, and considered themselves, Jewish/Hebrews. It wasn’t until the Bar Kochba revolt that there came to be a split.
I’m with you on not removing the apocrypha, but worse than that, imo, is asserting that the Old Testament is basically just a collection of stories + the Ten Commandments now, which Catholics and Protestant mostly all do (not sure about Orthodox).
The gap isn’t on “I am a member of this corporation-enshrined formal organization”, but on where different groups of people have gone off the narrow path on their acceptance and interpretations of scripture and added dogmas.
