Any business advertising in Spanish on tv or otherwise needs to be raided by ICE. Make English great again. That is all. Have a thunderous Thursday.

People who only speak Spanish in the United States should be deported. They don't respect our culture, they don't belong here.
I agree and businesses are the biggest enabler of this-begin fining any business that does not preach English only or at least English primary. I understand having second and third language as backup-sure. But that's what it should be-secondary.
"Press 2 for English".
I agree. We have made it too easy for people by providing their language and interpreters for life. Learn the English language and culture or go back from whence you came.
Can't tell you how many people visit our healthcare facilities and don't speak English, all different languages though the most common is Spanish. Some are on medicaid or medicare or both. Why isn't it law that in order to receive any public benefits you need to speak fluent English? I know the answer but it's frustrating as this ads to the cost of our healthcare.
Assimilate dammit
I've been complaining since Spanish has been on the ATMs.
The Spanish option might save a few mins, but it doesn't incentivize him to learn English.
The business's priority is usually not in the best interests of the society.
If businesses had their way, all of our white-collar jobs would be outsourced to Indians and Chinese willing to work $1 per hour. And all of our blue-collar jobs would be given to illegals willing to work well under minimum wage.
But hey, at least we won't be wasting seconds pushing buttons at ATMs because we wouldn't have any income to take out.
I've spent 16 years outside of the US, primarily Europe. Spent many months in rural Thailand. From my experience, there are very few people in the world who don't speak at least basic English. The only ones who don't speak English just have no interest in English-speaking countries. Applying for US visas takes a long time for third worlders, thus giving them time to learn basic English.
Either Hispanics really don't have the incentive to learn English, the willingness to learn English, or they're just really stupid.
America is the master of the world, and English is the world's lingua franca. Realistically speaking, Hungarians know that the rest of the world can't understand their language.
Border towns are like this. Most businesses are majority English but 90% of the town operates in Spanish. Lots of schools, services catering to the anchor baby population. Local Hispanics often detest the illegals because the actually do steal jobs. The only way to have, for example, a tile company is to hire illegals to do the work and pay them under the table or else you get outbid every time.
I volunteer at a church pantry doing intakes. We fill out a form every time a client comes in. First time client interviews are more thorough requiring financial and household composition. I refuse to do the Spanish only ones although I'm proficient in that language. And there are a lot. Instead I hand them info on learning English and give them to a native speaking volunteer.
It actually is......
Helping a thief steal is not a good deed. Thou shalt not covet anything that is your neighbor's.
It is. One woman improved her English enough to get a decent job and her green card. When I first met her she had a baby and unwell elderly mom. No clue where the child's father was. She was in dire straits and was about to be evicted. I paid 3 months of her rent when St Vincent de Paul dropped the ball. That was enough stability for her to move ahead with her life.
Teach a man to fish and all....
I am from El Salvador and proud of being a US citizen for decades. What it bothers me the most is all these Spanish commercials, WHY? This has to stop. If you don't know English, learn, if you don't like it go back to your country. Oviously if you don't speak English you are not legal in this country. When I call any business services they play the if you want Spanih press this number....Now days even the ctitizeship test is in other languages. This is insane. Why do we have to accommodate other languages? MAKE ENGLISH GREAT AGAIN God Love YOU!

The EO seems mostly symbolic but I think there has been some legislation passed since. I'd have to dig a little.
I used to shop the one hometown hardware store till they were run out of town. Where I live is nowhere near a boarder town however every time I walk into my local Lowes I have to hear Spanish advertising over the sound system. I have now started driving out of town and going to the all American small business 2 towns over and paying more money because I refuse to give Lowes another dollar of my hard earned money. Screw all the big box stores that promote and/or advertise this way.
Next, have the FCC begin removing Spanish Language radio stations.
Or require a special license and a minimum amount of English learning programming
Taco Tuesday programming allowed.
Hmmm...I did not consider that.
I believe it should be permissible to play music from other countries, but spoken words must be in English.
It would be cruel to deny people hearing "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion in the original French.
Fren. I support this message.
I'm frustrated by job postings requiring Spanish fluency those places need to raided to.
Give em the same language test as the truckers.....
I don't get my panties in a twist over Spanish. We share a border with a Spanish speaking population. Melding is going to happen. Creole, Cajun, and native American languages is even ok.
What I do get my panties in twist over is Swahili, Finnish, Iranian, German, Thai, Chinese, Tibetan, Burmese, Indonesian, Somali, Yoruba, Bengali, Urdu, Arabic, Atlantian, Martian, and every damned language that shares no border with us. Okay, maybe an argument could be made for Atlantian when it comes to bordering countries lol. In many cases (ie, Germany, Finland, Indonesia, Nigeria) they are taught English in their schools any ways.
The only actual awake comment here.
Also how often are anons watching Univision or Telemundo?
How many are listening to Spanish
radio?
Imagine being so racist the idea that there's two TV channels in Spanish and 3 Spanish radio stations in your city triggers you
Frankly living in Houston the only part of the city I like is Chinatown. I would be pretty damn sad if some people got their way and everything was just "White"
These are American languages and need to be preserved. Etoufee is at stake.
No- I am talking about a regular old station like TBS, TNT, and similar airing SPANISH COMMERCIALS in between the regular old English ones- it makes NO SENSE
I've never seen that when watching USA network for wrestling in the past. Might be where you live? When I go to San Antonio I will check the hotel TVs to see if I get Spanish ads on English cable channels.
Just saw one-all in Spanish DirecTV TBS (Watching Friends rerun) 915am PST
Law Offices of Harold D Carr Haroldcarrattorney.com 888.207.7110
Seattle area- directv via streaming- I am going to jot a note down next time: station and item advertised
Props to you for holding it down in enemy territory. I love cities but I don't think I could handle Seattle
There are patriots here- we are just few and far between. We would leave if we could :-(
A lot of households are bilingual. That is, they do speak English and Spanish. It does make sense that marketing... which is generally targeted at a different level of consciousness than your average TV Show or Movie... is Spanish.
At any rate, how much do you really pay attention to commercials? And, what is your particular fear of learning Spanish? Do what most of America does when it comes to commercials anyways... go use the toilet, grab a drink from the fridge, a cookie from the cookie jar, wink at your kid, step on a lego and do some minor parenting, and don't forget to tell your dog to stop chewing on the table leg.
Stop whining. Your life is a lot better than you are willing to recognize.

"Bilingual" does not mean English and Spanish. It means two languages. The assumption that the only other language one may speak is Spanish does not instill fear in me; it instills annoyance.

A very great deal. They are very influential and therefor very expensive.
It's like I tell people here...white people aren't all conservative Christian good hearted people. Not just the liberal whites but plenty of lower domain whites are not on board with the actual Maga message or what Jesus wants.
In my state they give ballots in English, Spanish, Chinese, and even Hindi. Nobody who can't read English well enough to fill in a ballot should be able to vote and nobody wants to answer "if these people are not voting illegally then how did they become a citizen if they can't read English?"
Great idea!!! However, all cultures need to assimilate to ours!!! No more of this USA are oppressors, stolen land garbage of the past 20 years,
Oppressive stolen land that everyone keeps wanting to move to for some reason.
They get very angry when told that we bought that land, AND kept the receipts. Wanna see 'em? I've got copies of Louisiana, Alaska, and Mexico right here!
Crazy, right?!!!
There is no excuse for not learning English. Free phone apps a few minutes every day, and you can have basic mastery in weeks. Just effin lazy. I had 6 years of Spanish.
Exactly! And they get a certificate at the end.
This!!!!!
Saw an Ashley furniture ad in complete spanish, print and voice both on a tv channel.
Hell yes. I hate seeing Spanish-language commercials on American TV stations. I've seen them for Walgreen's, and Jeep, and other well known products, on TLC and I believe the Sy-Fy channel. Ridiculous.
I have noticed national channels throwing in Spanish commercials---WHY? I'm pissed
Yes, happened to me for the first time the other day. Anyone/company doing that will never get my business. If they want to advertise on Spanish only channels, fine, but not on English channels. We are Americans and we speak English as a country.
Yes. A thousand times, yes!
Nice bait thread. Boomies out in full force. Spanish television programming isn't causing any problems. Hell, id like for there to be many more language options. This is not the way OP and you know it
In Londonistan, UK, people speak English in the gov callcenters but you still can’t understand what they’re saying.
¡Sí! 👍
Like the Chinese parents would say, "We came all da way from CHYNA and you got B PRUS IN ENGRISH?? A MINUS IN MATH? NOT A PRUS?" takes out belt
LOLOL
*Except businesses advertising in Cajun/ Creole / Cajun French. These businesses need to be raided by ICE and fed Jambalaya, Etouffée, or Gumbo. ICE is required to pay for their lunch, tip well and thank Memaw Thibidoux on the way out. Purchase of to-go boxes optional.
Bueno!
How long have we been hearing "for Spanish press 2"? Every time I hear that I'm like "This is some Bravo Sierra". Why not French, German, Japanese, etc, etc.?
Should be: "for Spanish get the fuck out of our country"
First question on ATM this morning—“What language do you speak? English or Spanish” Fucking retarded.
