I live in one of the whitest states in the country, Vermont. There are plenty of SNAP recepients. 66,500 of them according to the most recent stats. Our population is 648,493, which means 10 percent of the entire state. Most of them go to single parents, out of which 75 percent have some kind of employment, usually part time. The state government approved financing all of their benefit till mid month. The food pantries have been in overdrive and many many people and churches and towns are sponsering community dinners, so if you have a car, it is possible to go to these free meal events 4 days out of the week. I dont see any rioting happening in my state, the people who collect have kids, the seniors who collect are folks whose bodies caved in before retirement. Not old enough to collect unemployment, but bad backs, poor health etc cannot return them to their previous physical labor jobs. They are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, as a rule, high school drop outs, babies born to soon to young mothers who expect to be taken care of, etc. Most of the immigrants are on work visas for the farms and the builders, there are many who are undocumented, but ICE has taken care of them, we are a border state and since Trump took over, there has been a huge drop in people sneaking in from Canada. Until society returns to morality, until it once again becomes a huge stigma to have children out of wedlock, there is always going to be hungry children who are not cared for properly. Until that happens, I hate to see kids be deprived because they were born into a world, by irresponsible parents who cannot even take care of a dog, let alone a child. I follow my moral code as I understand God meant it to be. I do donate to pantries and community meals and volunteer when I can. I do not support a welfare state, but I do know that there are kids who need someone to step up for them. Here we are in 2025, 65 years since birth control was introduced, with more poor mouths to feed than ever there were when I grew up. I don't know what the solution is. It seems that there needs to be some government control regarding what is morally sustainable and what is not. Clearly, societal downfall is correlated to moral decline, as plain as the nose on your face. A housecleaning of large proportions can and will change this up,, but in the meanwhile, there are the kids. As a mother and Christian, I choose compassion for the innocents.
Hey, I agree, we should expect to be free of government in our personal lives, as long as we follow the law and don't cause problems for other people. But the moral decline has gone to the point that society if left alone, or what is left of society, will leach off of the rest of us. I do not see us returning to enormous institutional orphanages, or poor farms, although you have to admit those conditions did lead to less issues of baby mommas and baby daddys. Words that were not even in the lexicon back in the day. We allow people freedoms, without the responsibility of adulthood, and then we are expected to supplement their lives. Third generation welfare families around here, all white, nobodies formally married, filling state supplemented day cares and public schools, young womens future planned on having more babies they cannot afford, because at least the guvment will help them out. I don't know what the answer is, but they way it is going, Godless survival, leaves divine intervention the greatest alternative. God have mercy on the children.
You cannot deny that this is a very real possibility with the NG being placed in 4 major cities and President Trump just stated that small groups of NG will be sent out to more cities ahead of the Snap benefits ending. Mid terms on Tuesday and everything lining up with the Q board. On top of that Obama was called out for election rigging, Hillary’s mental instability, Comey, Brennan, Wray…. Everything we’ve waited for is being introduced to the public. It will be what it will be. We’ve been on this journey for more than 8 years. But as an observer I’d say this weekend into the next could very well be the start.
