When I tried it earlier from the DOJ site it appeared to work but after looking at downloaded Dataset 7 and 8 haven't had any joy.

Same. I pulled a random PDF from dataset 8 and the redactions are not copyable. I was using Adobe Acrobat and also tried with Edge.

I've used a different but similar way on redacted PDF docs before. Maybe some of you have seen the feature where acrobat (or whichever PDF reader has the feature) will read the doc to you? If the author didn't do the redactions properly it will read you the same redacted text that you can copy and paste using the method 4chan is talking about.

Not the first time they have done something like this, I forget which files they were but the redacted words could be read very well in a text editor. This was around 2018 time.
