Yeah it seems well intentioned, but it ignores the things sacrifice pointed out under the old law: You have to keep doing it over and over. Why? Because we aren't perfect and cannot live perfectly to be in the presence of a perfect being. This was not to trifle with our feelings, but reveal our imperfection and need for perfection. And the sound of the shot is DEFINITELY a high powered rifle which from behind would have had a MASSIVE exit wound, not what we got. And if the shot is from behind, who is on the roof with a rifle in a towel jumping off it? The only thing that checks every box is a shot from the front from the spot that he was in. That being said the only question is why no exit wound. But if its frangible then there wouldn't be one.
