I'm not sure I'm arrogant enough to assume that I am a member of the 1%
No one should be that arrogant. I've caught some negativity for expressing a similar sentiment. I don't believe any of us are truly ready for what we're going to learn, but we at least understand we have to learn it.
Plus some of them are so irrational that they'll assault young children in public because they aren't wearing the team they like's jersey.

I've spent a lot of time trying, fren. A lot of time listening, being patient, and speaking the truth when asked for my input. As a result I've lost most of the friends I used to see in person.
The wedge that seemed to really drive us apart was the seriousness of crimes against children. They took the "not my kid, not my problem stance" and I didn't.
In my experience, whatever they say after "HOW?" regardless of how weak a defence it is, they've convinced themselves it's rock solid.
After that they go right into their -ists and -phobes and claims of all sorts of bigotry.
Hmm... weird to let them know you're coming, unless the point is to flush some less insulated or generally flighty people out of hiding.
