Your friend has bought in to the moral superiority of the vaccine, and its value for the greater good. If the vax was effective and risk-free, that might be a logical position. The fact is, your friend likely thinks the vax is both these things (brainwashed). You know that the vax is neither effective nor risk-free. I have learned that once people have taken the vax under assumed effectiveness and safety, mere facts will not change their mind. To do so, they would need to face up to the fact that they are not safe (and not morally superior). I have multiple friends with many advanced degrees who are convinced they will be attending my funeral, and that I am the deluded one. They are scared to be in my unvaxxed presence (if the vax worked, shouldn't they be safe regardless of my vax status?). I have decided to not push it. We've been friends for 30+ years. When all this resolves, I am hopeful we'll be friends again. But I can't change their minds.
84% in favor of the jab. Need to get in there!
