Twitter was created for bots to spread disinformation. That was its mission from day 1. And it has performed brilliantly.
But its broke now. Most people have become aware of its nature just as they have with fake news. Twitter is mostly bots talking to bots these days. Real people avoid Twitter. I dont know one person personally or professionally that does Twitter.

I realized this around a year ago. Once you spot the patterns, it's stunning. Some of the major "thought leaders" of the Left have almost all of their engagement done by bots.
By "thought leaders" I'm talking about the type of people that typically get 3-5k likes for a tweet. When you start reading the replies (and if you know what to look for), you realize that 19 out of 20 replies are AI. This is not an exaggeration. I performed a rather scientific analysis for around a month and my data showed only about 5% of actual Leftist engagement on Twatter is legitimate. Twitter is a literal fantasy land for Leftists.
While the social engineering goal is an obvious one, I think these leftist bot swarms have now become absolutely necessary. If it was only genuine Leftists on Twatter, they'd be dramatically outnumbered by sane people and there'd be a mass realization that we're part of an enormous majority.
Point of clarification: I'm not talking about the obvious bots where there's no avatar photo and the person has 8 followers. The bot swarms are getting much more sophisticated than that. These are people with typically 200 to 2000 followers, a photo, and a twatter feed that passes muster to a casual glance until you realize that almost everything on their feed is a retweet.
Rush talked about this they found that 80% of Twitter users are bots. I couldn't find a. source on my research I found the same numbers were true for reddit. most of the bot up traffic comes from California and NYC. I had the research posted on voat. I mostly stay out of the comments due to the high bot activity
