Well, I'm from South Africa and I haven't heard anything about this ...As for Area's being segregated by colour...This is NOT True.... There is No discrimination against Blacks, However, there are policies in place which benefit Blacks....and policies that discriminate against Whites...It's Apartheid in reverse.... But found that the blacks weren't happy there at all and they didn't feel at all comfortable staying there. Many areas were segregated between color.

SA is home to tens of millions of blacks from numerous tribes, cultures, languages, beliefs. Plus millions more black migrants from across Africa. SA has super rich blacks and super poor blacks. Same for Indians, whites, coloured. Opinions vary widely from group to group.

You can get a general feel for the mood of a population by spending a little time among them and interacting with a number of them in a relatively short time. So they may be accurate in their assessment.
