I'm going to call Bullshit on Ibuprofen.

Ibuprofen is the generic name and can be manufactured by any company.

True. But drug manufacturing and actual patents/license shit is very nuanced. They probably own a lot of the actual manufacturing capacity anyways. A lot of industries are like this.

Beers of competing brands are often brewed in the same place. Generic brands of all sorts of consumables are often made in tje same facility. You should see how fucked dog food is. Most brands are owned by a few companies and those are all made in tje same facilities anyways.

That’s the coated one and it does cut down on stomach breakdown because ibuprofen is an acidic drug it will tear a hole in your stomach.

They stopped the daily aspirin because more old people die of stomach bleeds than most other things.

You have to take ibuprofen with food. My mother popped two in her mouth then had a code and she left them in her mouth for a few minutes and had an ulcer in her mouth.

Older ppl shouldn’t take this or aspirin very much and even young ppl should take on a full stomach

While i can accept that it is not a good thing to take ibuprofen on an empty stomach, saying it is an acidic drug is not the whole story. A main component of stomach gastric juices is hydrochloric acid, to the point where the pH is about 2. We live with that as a normal requirement of digestion.

Most APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients. Ie ibuprofen) are made in China and India. Indian generic companies have full capability to synthesize and purify their own drugs, though it may not be the most efficient pathway.

As far as I can tell, Pfizer’s ibuprofen is called Advil. The patent doesn’t seem to be owned by Pfizer though I could have very well missed something

My Girl noticed this about Chapstick a few months back. She used to LOVE her chapstick but now she does not trust it. She got "Burts bees" and some other type of lib balm now that is not full of weird chemicals and junk. All natural stuff and she is loving it. She is using all the chapstick she had as emergency fire starter goop. Haha

Burt's Bees actually works better for me. I don't feel the need to keep slathering it on which I used to do with Chapstick for some reason. Also it has a great scent.

That bee stuff is mostly a fraud. I ordered some of that stuff (not the lip balm) from QVC many years ago. It didn't do a thing for us. QVC actually sent me a letter apologizing for ever having it presented on the air.

Advil is the name brand of Ibuprofen. I use the Costco stuff. Ibuprofen is the only thing I’ve found that will get rid of my headaches.

Ibuprofen works well, but it's hell on your kidneys. My doctor told me to quit taking that. I was at Stage 3 kidney disease, but I'm fine now.

I also had to cut out bananas a few years ago. When the nurse called me to tell me about the bananas, I was actually eating a banana sandwich at the time. Amazing. I haven't touched one since.

permalink parent save report block reply

The potassium in bananas can be a problem for your kidneys.

Other foods contain potassium, but bananas are the biggest problem apparently.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– GDZeus 3 points 4 years ago +3 / -0

Thanks for this, had no idea about feverfew. I get migraines and take sumatriptan. I may have to give this a try.

Aside from treating migraines, feverfew may have other potential health benefits:

Anticancer effects: Test-tube studies show that compounds in feverfew may inhibit certain cancer cells

Pain relief: Anti-inflammatory properties of feverfew may help relieve pain

Elevated mood: In studies in mice, feverfew helped reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. However, human studies on this topic are unavailable

Treating rosacea: Topical creams containing parthenolide-free feverfew extract may help treat acne rosacea by reducing inflammation. Parthenolide can irritate skin, which is why it’s removed from topical creams

Thank you. I used to have a book about various herbs and what benefits these herbs offer. I also know chickweed is great for weight loss. Lol, my kids used to hate it when I was using it. It makes you not crave sweets.

For rosacea, "Chang Sheng Herbal Rejuvenating Beauty Soap" (from Amazon) worked for someone I know, but I also saw JIMR's comments on Ivermectin at:

https://rosacea-support.org/just-how-do-you-kill-demodex-mites.html/comment-page-43

so it's also included.

Very interesting. I will check it out.

I recently got my hands on a document going back a couple hundred years which includes information about my ancestry and cures for diseases back then.

Some research suggests that feverfew may help prevent migraine headaches, but results have been mixed. Some research suggests it may reduce migraine headache frequency, as well as some symptoms, such as pain, nausea/vomiting, and light sensitivity. I know it really helped me.

Not sure why the downvotes.

In context of covid - most everyone wouldn't need freakin IVM if they just had a proper functioning immune system (high vitamin D).

It's like... HOW much freaking medicine is being injected/ingested/patched/snorted/sublingualised in the US? And one guy decided to downvote. People need to fucking wake up and stop with all the medication and start living healthy instead. Most of the meds are just hiding your symptoms, but not fixing the root cause.

Sure sure, there are a few things that are very helpful - but this abuse of medication is just totally overboard. Most meds are taken because of life-style diseases. Stop the madness.

I don't use any of them. As a matter of fact, Chapstick is "addictive." You use it for dry lips so you put some on, but it dries out your lips, so you put more on, but it dries out your lips, and on and on and on. I use Bert's Bees lip balm with pomegranate oil.

permalink save report block reply
▲ 9 ▼
– Lasoukia 9 points 4 years ago +9 / -0

It's designed that way. Enough moisture to give the user relief but wears away after a while to reapply. Most people don't catch on that it's the product causing the dry lips. Soft Lips was the worst and red pilled my young teenage mind on how companies fool consumers.

I had dozens of different brands of lip balm and threw them all out for favour of La Roche-Posay's cicaplast lip balm. Only one I use now.

It's not but I use less, lasts long and my lips are healthier. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me. When you think you're out, just cut the tube as lots of the product will still be in there.

Ibuprofen is generic, it can be made by anyone. Dimetap and Robitussin are cough medicines formulated from generic active ingredients, just buy the generic form. Advil is just branded ibuprofen. Pfizer doesn't make shit on anything but patented medications, that's why they are skirting regulations any way they can. When only the bottom line matters, everything else is just an obsiicle to keeping your company afloat while enriching upper management.
