Asia Times is Chinese (Hong Kong)... but MBFC Credibility Rating: HIGH CREDIBILITY History Asia Times is an English-language publication launched in 1995. In 2016, the Board of Directors named veteran editor and economist Uwe Parpart as Editor. Read our Country profile on Hong Kong.
Lends credibility to the theory Clandestine posted though.
Proceed with caution and look for a secondary source. 24 Hour rule might should apply.
Do you have a link for the publishing? I went through the thread and I’m not seeing any links I could be blind but I could really use hard proof for that theory. My husband is putting up resistance to that narrative.
Okay so, update: So far as I can tell Pepe Escobar has not provided source confirmation of his claim. Does anyone know a credible journo who might be inclined to query the guy on twitter or do a kind of peer to peer thing? I don't know anybody. Will keep watching his posts and look for articles, but nothing as of this morning.
In an attempt to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine, propagandists claimed the attack was focused on secret U.S. biolabs there.
Well, if all of us on the interwebs are discussing these 'secret laboratories', then they are no longer secret. Snopes, via logical analysis of the statement, is correct in stating that secret laboratories were not attacked, because they were publicly known laboratories that were even documented on a US Embassy website.
In this case, the rumors are a distortion of the fact that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Department of Defense of the United States of America entered into an agreement in 2005, while Republican U.S. President George W. Bush was in office, to “stem the threat of bio-terrorism by placing safeguards on deadly pathogens dating from a Soviet-era biological weapons program,”
Lol. Not only do they just admit that the US is co-funding and co-operating bio labs in Ukraine (thereby negating much of the rest of the argument) but they throw George Bush’s name in there as though THAT will convince us that this is a good thing.
I absolutely LOVE it when anyone tries to invoke George Bush or any other GOP politician in attempt to trip us up, as though we’re all just die hard partisan Republicans with cult like allegiance.
Makes proving how stupid they are that much easier.
Are these guys at snopes overworked? That fact check was terrible! My favorite part was when they said that according to some random dude with a PhD it's impossible for humans to create a new virus in a lab. But really the whole thing was quite funny. I give it give stars
See, that's just it. I've never heard of this guy, don't know his credentials, and don't believe anything any journalist posts without being able to verify it myself. Which, is what we're taught to do in high school journalism class, probably the one class I took that actually taught me something about research that I didn't already know before my 11th grade year.
So, until I see a source, I can't just blindly follow along. Savvy?
Look dude, I'm not trying to sell something to you. I just ran down someone who claims to have confirmed and reconfirmed that Ukrainian bio labs were targeted which would support the theory Clandestine floated.
If you wanted to know his credentials it's easy as fuck. Muck Rack and other sites have a lot on him.
Want me to change your nappy while I'm at it? Okay, here ya go:
Pepe Escobar VERIFIED
Journalist, Asia Times
Middle East, Southeast Asia
As seen in: Asia Times, HuffPost, RT, Sputnik, Al Jazeera, Salon, South China Morning Post, Brasil 247, InfoWars, Mother Jones, The Nation, Zero Hedge, AlterNet, teleSUR, Le Monde Diplomatique, Daily Times, CounterPunch, Rebelion, Mint Press News, Truthdig, OpEdNews, RealClear Markets, Russia Insider, Strategic Culture, Dissident Voice, The Arab American News, New Age (Bangladesh), Iskra, USA News, Presse-toi à gauche, Yerepouni Daily News
Sure, my comment is a bit flippant, but a journalist should know better to make such an explosive claim without any proof. It would be impossible to say the man himself doesn't have a biased history, despite his often accurate accredited work. Asking for evidence, is not out of line.
Not flippant at all. Point taken. I watched the twitter feed and to my knowledge Escobar has not provided source info even though a boatload of people were pelting him with requests for it. So nothing to add. If or when anything is published it would be worth watching for.
So now we trust journalists because they're saying something we want to be and think it's happening? With no other concrete proof at the moment, it is "trust this random tweet, bro" yet probably worse cuz it's a journalist.
I did find another article (2 but one was a reprint of an article) that claimed, "At least 7 of the 11 biolabs have been destroyed by Russian advances according to some sources." - but no sources given and it was a dubious/sus original media company (Free West Media, Author FWMSTAFF) meaning unidentifiable author and it was not credible for those reasons.
Please read putins address to the nation regarding the military operation he said it was because of continued nato expansion and them breaking promises and old deals that they had and not giving a damn about russias wishes for how they want to operate. He didn’t mention a single thing about natural gas…. Also said it was b.s that they are using the propaganda machine to make Russia out to look like an evil country and he doesn’t want Russia to be remembered like that in history
🤣🤦🏻♀️ Oh my, but maybe that will come true🤞
I’ve never liked twitter. I made an account years ago to keep up with certain country artist. IDK why but some celebrities only post “news” on Twitter.
I never used it, my daughter would tell about post. I deleted after Trump was kicked to the curb.
When I got on here and people were posting twitter post I made a new account.
I’m too damn noisy! I want to see replies to good tweets. I have an account with a photo & that’s it. I never post and don’t intend to. Account is locked down, no followers, messages or notifications.
😹 I’m a Twitter troll.
I’m happy to help you guys in jail with links.
The kenetic energy of a missle going Mach 20 is that of a small nuclear explosion. Those labs were vaporozed by those missles. I hope those labs went up with the staff inside.
They won't risk their own lives with something airborne I don't think. That's a genie they can't put back in the bottle. Unless they already have a cure for themselves anyway.
They don't provide these Snopes-style alternative explanations because they expect anyone to believe them. It's so if they are asked directly by a reporter then they have a response at the ready and don't have to look embarassed
Sadly yeah, no replies this morning that I could see of Escobar indicating source info of his tweet/post. Haven't looked around news/media yet to see if there's any articles. Will be doing that over the next few days.
Here's how I play the game. The biolab subplot now has my interest. A journalist I've heard of positively tweets that the biolab guess has been confirmed and by whom.
To me the tweet is like a trailer alerting me to coming events. I will now watch for/look for the confirmations from the sources he mentioned. Once they're available Ill vet them.

Pepe Escobar is a geopolitical analyst for the Asia Times (Hong Kong). The twitter post is all there is at this time. The direct link is the same as the click through the Post title here: https://twitter.com/RealPepeEscobar/status/1498032226012909571?cxt=HHwWhsCy2eyXisopAAAA
Is his name really Pepe? Did you find a pepe in the wild?
He's Brazilian and yup a Pepe but when you take a look at who he writes for, well, let's say he's not a conservative or fan of the US.
48
Maybe longer... situation's still hot, propaganda flying around all over... if it's legit will it be published at all?
Will be watching the guy's twitter and his Muck Rack bio... but it is what it is and if it pans out it substantiates Clandestine's bio lab theory.
Okay so, update: So far as I can tell Pepe Escobar has not provided source confirmation of his claim. Thanks for the update, as it were. Appreciate the diligence. Watching.
Last piece Escobar did in Asia Times was an Op/Ed in December. Need a journo to reach out to the guy like a peer to peer thing.
Doesn't matter. I dont trust them
From a reply on Twitter: It can’t be true! Snopes confirmed 🙄 https://www.snopes.com/news/2022/02/24/us-biolabs-ukraine-russia/
The fact check was on the 24th I believe and the tweet was today.
👏 If they would only research who rules the fact checkers!

And these people are stupid.
Are these guys at snopes overworked? That fact check was terrible! My favorite part was when they said that according to some random dude with a PhD it's impossible for humans to create a new virus in a lab. But really the whole thing was quite funny. I give it give stars
Link to story, please?
Source: Trust the random Twitter bro.
If the guy wasn't a credentialed veteran journo I wouldn't have posted it bro. Not a rando... though no source revealed at this time. Eh?
See, that's just it. I've never heard of this guy, don't know his credentials, and don't believe anything any journalist posts without being able to verify it myself. Still better to post a source or at the very least some credibility posts from previous reporting.
Sure, my comment is a bit flippant, but a journalist should know better to make such an explosive claim without any proof. It would be impossible to say the man himself doesn't have a biased history, despite his often accurate accredited work. Asking for evidence, is not out of line.

It is what it is. It was out there, it was being retweeted and yeah I jumped on it while it was easy to find the origin of the tweet.
It's just the tweet (as I indicated in a comment above) - so be looking for secondary conformation. 24 hour rule applies.
Agreed... source info needed.
Natural gas?????

If they imagine Russia invaded over natural gas and are adamant about their fantasy then they are not awake at all. At best, they're sleep walking.

You don't need a twitter account to read tweets or comments. You only need an account if you want to add a comment.
"What did the nine iskander say to the fauci? Slap!"
Charlie Murphy!
The kenetic energy of a missle going Mach 20 is that of a small nuclear explosion. Those labs were vaporozed by those missles. I hope those labs went up with the staff inside.
Good news if true. Just hope they didn't release a deadly pathogen into the atmosphere.
A user in the comments said They used Thermobaric munitions which are effective for this type of target.
Just now looking at the comments - they're pelting the hell out of Escobar for source(s). No reply so far.
Yeah that was a commenter, commenting on the tweet, also with no source. Although the Iskander system is compatible with thermobaric munitions.
They won't risk their own lives with something airborne I don't think. That's a genie they can't put back in the bottle. Unless they already have a cure for themselves anyway.

Anyone know this language? Reply of this tweet & video of an explosion.
https://twitter.com/ivan_8848/status/1498043485898907649
The language in the video is Russian. Comments to the video are saying it’s fake or that it was some type of ammunition storage target
Thanks
Confirmed yet zero proof.
Sadly yeah, no replies this morning that I could see of Escobar indicating source info of his tweet/post. Haven't looked around news/media yet to see if there's any articles. Will be doing that over the next few days.
Two more to go and then something tells me operations cease and talks begin.
This might not be a biolab but it's definitely some Iskander footage
https://t.me/s/anna_news/22339
Amen
This isn't confirmation. Sorry. It's just more reporting that we can't trust. Not sure whoni will trust to explain it.
