Plus the blades have a shelf life. They get retired to a blade junk yard. Not sure if they r fiberglass of what material.
I saw a program once where they said they are made of so many composite materials, they are practically impossible to recycle.
they try and "repurpose" them (bike shelters and such) but I can't imagine that is too common.
I live by a plant that made (they're closed now and moved to China) these blades and I know people who worked their and they told me that amount of toxic shit they used to make them was mind boggling. The disposal of the toxic sludge costs MORE than than blades and that's why they moved to China! There are no rules in China and they will just bury that shit in a school yard and call it a day, oh and there is ZERO recycle-ability of the blades, they just cut them up and bury them.
I bet lots of solvents/VOCs. All to atmosphere. (No containment or scrubber). There is no honest cost benefit to the planet just money grubbing whores like the pharma whores and the military complex whores.
It makes sense if you live in 1940's soviet russia
Most of the windmills here in central OR don't even kick power to the grid full time. It's very strange. The farmers get huge subsidies for them so they welcome them. But there's a strange system of how and when the power flows into the grid. Literally most of them are spinning for nothing.
NOTE: I learned this from an electrical engineer up here. He works on large data centers. I wish I could better articulate what he was explaining to me.
My guess is that there is limited capability to store the power they generate. So any electricity that they generate when there is already excess on the grid is just thrown away.
Sorry, I realize you're just describing it in common terms, but the amount of 'storage' the grid can hold is gone in about 1/60th of a second. Any excess power supplied to the grid is just lost.
Storage systems like UPS will kick in when the power drops, but that's not feeding back to the grid.
Yes, there are multiple 'cutoffs', below X mph wind it might spin but won't generate power. Above Y mph and they shut off.
That would be an accurate assessment if the whole thing is connected to a central transformer that ties into the grid, the grid managers determine when it can supply the grid, how much power and for how long. I'm somewhat aware of that sequence, but no direct experience in that level. One detail I did learn was that, for solar at least, if they say they produce 150 MW and when it's time to connect they only have 100 MW, they gotta ramp a diesel generator to supply the difference.
Epoxy
I read something about them being recycled and used as stand up paddle boards / kite surfing boards. Not sure if progress was made on it though.
🚩🌬️💨You are correct, fren!

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Don't forget all the site preparation, the massive concrete foundations, the asphalt or concrete roads to get to the pads, the massive amount of steel used to construct power transmission towers etc.
Then to top it all off, the windmills are the greatest killers of endangered birds; eagles, hawks, owls, etc.
Such a feel good green project--for the idiots who are easily brainwashed. This is another giant money transfer scheme under the guise of "SAVING THE PLANET".
Half the time they sit idle
They sit idle when there is no wind, and when there is too much wind. What at great design.
NO They are broken and in need of repairs half the time...
I'll see half a dozen turning. The rest stopped? Wind wasn't too high for the half dozen, why not run them all?
Yes, excellent question! If the goal is to use the wind to produce power, then why aren’t they all spinning all the time whenever there is wind.
Not to mention the 80 gallons of gearbox oil per turbine that needs to be changed yearly.
https://www.webnews21.org/how-much-oil-does-a-wind-turbine-use/
Absolutely correct fren. Those eyesores have decimated bird populations in Ca as well as other places, Now it seems no one wants to talk about it. Environmental laws to protect endangered species impacted businesses and private land owners for decades. Windmill farms and other green energy endeavors somehow get a pass and environmental concerns are ignored and the projects are fast tracked.
These projects get huge infusions of cash to get up and running - mostly subsidized with taxpayer money. But, very little money is there for maintenance. So, there are farms in disrepair with broken and idle windmills - which is good news for the birds. Windmills require upkeep. But, these geniuses grossly underestimated those costs. The average costs for maintenance can be just shy of $50K per year, per windmill. I wonder how many of those parts have to come from China? Then there is the cost of decommissioning a windmill once it reaches the end of its life. The costs of decommissioning a windmill can range from $250K to $500K each. Now do the math with an entire farm and you can easily see why there are farms with non functioning windmills that litter the landscape. Talk about being sold a load of bull crap.
Europe has had to face that reality recently because many of their windmills have hit their expiration much earlier than the 20 to 25 years that was first predicted. This reality is hitting them in the face while in the midst of economic challenges and fuel shortages. I wonder how many of the draconian measures that parts of Europe are trying to implement are simply due to the fact that they screwed up.
The green Nazis here in the States are trying to push us into the same situation - not only with wind, but also solar. The efficiency of the Chinese solar panels starts to drop off much quicker than what people were told. As with wind, solar also shows consistently that over time, the reality does not line up with the expectations. All of the cost/benefit calculations at that point are useless. There are municipalities and private enterprises, that after spending millions to go green, have had to go back onto the grid because the efficiency of their green energy production has decreased within a couple of years. They try to sue the green energy companies only to find out they no longer exist. What a racket.
You NAILED IT!
People's inability to see what is right in front of their faces astounds me. Even with just a couple of functioning brain cells, it is apparent that all this green energy crap is a scam, and at worse, a religious cult. But because people are generally lazy and don't want to take the time to do ANY homework, they would much rather live the matrix and virtue signal in order to belong to the cult. It may sound horrible, but sometimes I wonder if the vaxxine holocaust in the end may actually be a blessing in disguise when you consider who the vaxxinated are.
The Great Awakening is supposed to wake up those who have been spoon fed what to believe for years. They are victims of the public school system, and the University System who all spew the same Communist ideology. There will always be the 6-8% who refuse to believe the truth when it is right in front of them. Those who have been brainwashed into taking the clotshot will be truly regretful and the most angry.
Even some of those will not see the truth - even if it kills them or someone they care about. In all honesty, I cannot completely blame the education system. When all is boiled down, we are ultimately responsible for the choices we make - and to do nothing is a choice. Many of us on GW came out of that same system and look at us. Why are we not part of the brainwashed masses? Why? Because we took the time to go look.
When the Almighty first engaged Moses and gave him his commission to go free the people, it was not until Moses stopped what he was doing to go see the sight of a burning bush that was not being consumed. It was when Moses went to go see this thing, that he came to know truth. We are all here because we stopped what we were doing long enough to seek some truth.
Dirt road here
Yes, it creates high and low pressure zones, birds that inhale high pressure and enter low pressure the air expands and pops their lungs.
Not to mention how they destroy the natural beauty of West Virginia and I'm sure other places. It makes me sick to my stomach to see miles and miles of windmills on mountain tops.
They are all over in Texas, they look just awful. Saw one on fire last week as we traveled to South Texas, black billowing smoke for miles. I assume it's not easy to put out a fire on top of one of those.
I heard they froze up too during that bad winter storm about, what 18 months ago? My co-worker told me that. Said the inside of his house was 45 degrees because they were the power source and....no power!
Curaçao comes to mind...they have wind mills on a hill that get the wind just right...and that BEAUTIFUL hill is NOW and eyesore...
following is where they are located: https://www.appropedia.org/w/images/thumb/5/52/Curacao_map.jpg/1200px-Curacao_map.jpg

Altamont Wind Resource area has killed + 20000 Golden Eagles
Hey Gretta is that OK?
Thanks for that excellent link.
Great, they’ll be endangered again because of their “green” monstrosities 😡
Excellent statistics to show to green energy believers.
You also have the case where on windless days, power is supplied to keep the blades rotating to stop damage to the bearings.
Also the incredible amount of birds killed by the blades.
This is an excellent example of one of the Cabal's brilliant scams to damage the World's economy!
Unsourced meme statistics aren’t going to convince any green energy believers. Hell, I generally agree with the sentiment and even I’m not convinced. I’ve seen so many memes like this that are verifiably wrong that I’m calling bullshit without a source.
The full quote comes from the book "Carbon Shift: How Peak Oil and the Climate Crisis Will Change Canada (and Our Lives)" and says:
The 3 years or less is what I was looking for. What classifies a location as being a good wind site? (Probably lots of open space) Why would there ever be windmills built on poor wind sites, if it takes so long to even pay off the cost of the construction/installation of the windmill itself?
Not an attractive return on investment in my mind at all, many businesses wouldn’t bother investing in something with a 3 year return like this
I spent an entire week learning about wind energy this year. Watching videos and reading articles and just deep diving into it.
It's a complete and total government scam.
All of it. It's far worse for the environment than simply digging and burning coal in every way imaginable, except for maybe air pollution... which modern coal plants are very good at reducing.
Nuclear. Nuclear is the way to go. It's the safest, cleanest energy available on earth and the government fear mongers it like crazy because they don't want us to have tons of cheap, clean energy.
And no I didn't know and thank for the post, time for me to shove this info down my liberal sister's trap
Truth. All of it is a distraction from real free energy
Great Prager U videos telling the truth about wind and solar. https://www.prageru.com/video/whats-wrong-with-wind-and-solar https://www.prageru.com/video/how-much-energy-will-the-world-need
Windmills are stupid and bad
Ah yes, but are my friends getting rich and enriching me under the table? 🤔🤔
In Australia, we call these "wind turbines", used to generate electricity. We use "wind mills" to refer to the smaller contraptions which are used on farms to pump water from bores
Yes turbine is the correct term in USA as well, but a lot of the time I just call them windmills since it’s one less syllable
They forgot all the oil, someone said 700 gal every 9 months.
In addition China is the country producing these, as far as I know. Do they use the same weak steal used in our naval destroyers?
The first time my husband and I saw these things was probably about 1989 on a cross country road trip just before we married. I can't remember what state we first saw them in, maybe Utah? We didn't know wtf they were and we didn't all have google in our pockets back then. It was years before we figured out what they were.
Coking coal?
It really should be geothermal wherever possible.
1-2 holes.. one to pour water down, the other to have steam come up and power a generator.
I'm sure there's tons of fake articles debunking this kek
about a thousand gallons of oil and hydraulic fluid too, which needs to be replaced on a schedule
But... But... We gotta do somethin... Da erf is dyin.
It's called Energy Return on Investment and it's the reason that countries powered by wind and solar are not capable of manufacturing wind and solar.
Sounds more like an expensive scam
Not surprised in the least. And who made gazillions off them? Not the goyim, that's for sure.
Hahaha
This is fake shit. If it was made of metal they would be recycled instead of buried in the desert. They are made of mostly composite resin systems that won't ever break down and are light and durable. Please don't post random gotcha images without looking into it yourself for like 2 mins
https://www.metacrawler.com/serp?qc=images&q=burying+windmill+blades
Blades are made of composite resin, sure. Which suffers from stress and develops cracks so that the blades need replacing periodically.
The towers, foundation, and generator are made using steel.
See: Rupert Darwall “Green Tyranny”
Hitler was a wind power enthusiast, but it didn’t work for them either.
