My mom was electro shocked @ the Hinsdale Hospital in Illinois in the 50s and early 60s. She ended up walking into traffic when I was 3. It's real shit that destroys families.
She was a matron in a children's hospital before having a breakdown. After teh treatment she never worked again and my grandfather gave up a top career to care for her. She was vague and had memory issues.
She died of Alzheimers in the 90s. I expect it was related to the brain damage.
