Both are awesome. I’ve been watching Dr. Berg’s videos on YT. Amazing how our family practitioners only peddle for big Pharma.

Re: Type 1 Clinical benefits of reducing carbohydrate in Type 1 Diabetes

Turton J, Brinkworth G, Parker H, Rush A, Johnson R, Rooney K. (2022). Clinical Application of Reduced-Carbohydrate Diets for Type 1 Diabetes Management: A Retrospective Case Series. Current Research in Diabetes and Obesity Journal. 15(4)

Improved energy and mental clarity No more cravings, reduced 'thoughts about food' • Weight loss/maintenance- it can do both! • Improved lipid profiles •Reduced post-prandial blood glucose fluctuations • Improved HbAic •Decreased insulin/medication requirements •Decreased error margins in dose calculations • Fewer hypoglycaemic events

Good Luck to your friend.

fasting

Is it type 1 or type 2? Big difference.

Type 2 can be cured quickly with a fast and all liquid diet. This was discovered by accident by observing patients after surgeries that required this type of aftercare, and it jived with all the keto observations/research that had been ongoing. It can be cured (reversed) gradually with diet, as noted by many other commenters.

If it's type 1, there is no commonly accepted cure. But Dr Faustman has been crowdfunding her research over decades despite resistance and hit pieces by most official sources. She has conclusively proven that it is causally linked to the tuberculosis vaccine. She has successfully reversed it in a few patients and is expanding the approved studies to determine best dosing, etc. Lots of info on her website faustmanlab.org, including scientific papers that are actually easy to read and understand. Look at the papers published around March 2020.

Fasting - go to Amazon and search for this book: Complete Guide To Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting by Dr. Jason Fung and Jimmy Moore

HERE IS ONE OF THE REVIEWS FROM AMAZON ABOUT THE BOOK

We've Been LIED To!

  1. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day (no scientific proof)
  2. You have to eat all the time so you don't get too hungry. WHAT A LIE. I fell for this. Almonds were my go to... But it turns out EVERYTHING you eat (aside from pure butter) will generate an INSULIN response.
  3. Diet Soda / Zero Calorie Drinks are like drinking water... They don't affect you blood sugar. Well, my glucose meter disagrees. They certainly have affects, and they are NOT positive
  4. If you don't eat, your blood sugar will drop dangerously low. (Why aren't all the Survivor Show people dead?)

In a nutshell, we have an INSULIN problem. We are eating SO OFTEN and SO MUCH in refined carbs, that our insulin is always being produced. And like ANYTHING... We begin to tolerate this level of INSULIN, and need a higher level. That's Insulin Resistance or Acclimation...

How do you UNDO Acclimation. STOP USING the substance. Let your tolerance go down.

And guess what FASTING Does... It stops causing High Insulin levels all the time.

GOOD LUCK TO YOUR FRIEND!

DOCTORS do not want to heal us they want to prolong the cash cows misery by helping mask the symptoms. Ask your self this implement question: If the medication worked why would you need to keep getting refills? Answer do “they” can make more money. Money is not in the cure .

I have not cured my T2 Diabetes of 13 years, but have discovered making a tincture using bay leaf and fig leaf which I use 2-4 x daily has brought my blood glucose levels down to the point of eliminating one drug entirely (Januvia) and reducing the other by 25% (Metformin). I also use Berberine, Bitter Melon and Cinnamon as adjuvants. Intermittent fasting (14:10 or 16:8) is beneficial as well. The research is out there.

Indeed, it has many possible, undesirable side-effects, not least of which is the need to supplement with B1 and another (B12?) or suffer the consequences of dangerously low levels.

Anything that increases insulin sensitivity like keto (or even more effectively intermittent fasting) with very careful supervision by a professional. I know there are some clinics using these methods, especially intermittent fasting) to effectively reverse type two diabetes!

I completely eliminated my Type II, by going on the Ketogenic diet. Not gonna lie, it was hard to give up certain carbs, and I used to bake bread as a hobby. Worth it though. Lost 40 pounds, and blood sugar is back to normal, and no more neuropathy. A few years later, there are now products in stores, as well as lots of recipes, for making low or no carb substitutes for our favorite treats. I found zero carb bread at my local rural market, of all things. It's good.

I heard a cure is possible through intermittent fasting, autophagy and keto diet, but it’s more like a remission of the illness than a definitive cure. You won’t depend on meds that exacerbate the problem even more and will lose some serious weight easily compared to other regular diets, but keep in mind it’s more like a lifestyle and diet habits change for the rest of your life not a one time solution. Follow Dr Berg, Fung, Sten Ekberg, Mindy Peltz ( specially for women). There are many more serious doctors and personal trainers that support keto and IF on YouTube, the list is big.

Eat real foods and keep track of calories (don't overeat). No fast food or nothing that comes in a box or can. No sodas, alcohol, or processed sugar. Keto is ok, but for me it was too high in calories. Keeping track of how much I was eating was the key for me to lose weight.

Type 2 has a lot of success with cutting out sugar/carbs and focusing on eating clean eating with an eating window 16 hours/8 hours, or 18 hours/6 hours and some fasting. There are many drs with great youtube videos that explain how to get started. As rooftoptendie suggested, Dr Berg and Dr Fung are two good ones as well as Dr Berry, Dr Gundy, Dr Cywes to name a few. There are many youtubers that have lost a lot of weight that have channels too. Great recipes too. Love watching the keto twins, 2krazyketos, maria emmerich (the one who created the great keto bread recipe and others put their spin on it.), indigo neli and the list goes on and on.

No sugar no white stuff (white flour prod, rice, potatoes). A great way to start. Stevia in moderation is a great sugar substitute. Real butter. Olive oil. Lots of good water w pinch of salt added. Cottage cheese. Keto carnivore. I know several pre-diabetics who turned their whole situation around and had weight melt off without even trying. And they started walking gradually builr uo to a mile 3x per week.

Yes, quite easily. All the establishment has to do is change the numbers, but they won't do that because Type 2 is the gateway disease for Big Pharma and their army of medical pushers (doctors and nurses) to get you on more drugs because you are at higher rise of XYZ. The only symptom of Type 2 diabetes is a doctor visit. Well, you cannot argue with numbers. Who controls the bogie numbers? How crafty they are.

It can be cured with nutrition. Nutritional therapy practitioners have protocols to reverse it, especially if the person has not had it for a long time.
